I had the misfortune of recently dealing with Vanessa Swann in her capacity as Chief Executive of Cockpit Arts. She gave the impression she is unreasonable and lacks integrity, hardly the type of person who should be at the helm of an organisation with a social mission.

About Cockpit Arts

Cockpit Arts is a unique organization that provides support and guidance to makers, designers, and artists in the UK. The company was founded in 1986 with the aim of helping talented individuals turn their passion for craft into successful businesses. Today, Cockpit Arts is home to over 140 makers who work across a range of disciplines including ceramics, textiles, jewelry, furniture, and more.

One of the key features that sets Cockpit Arts apart from other organizations is its focus on providing practical support to its members. This includes access to affordable studio space in central London as well as business development services such as mentoring, training workshops, and networking opportunities. By providing these resources, Cockpit Arts helps its members build sustainable businesses that can thrive in today's competitive marketplace.

Another important aspect of Cockpit Arts' mission is its commitment to promoting the value of craft within society. The organization believes that handmade objects have a unique power to connect people with their environment and each other. As such, it works hard to raise awareness about the importance of craft through exhibitions and events that showcase the work of its members.

One example of this is Cockpit Arts' annual Open Studios event which takes place twice a year in May and November. During this time visitors are invited into the studios where they can meet makers face-to-face and learn about their creative processes first-hand. This event has become one of London's most popular cultural attractions attracting thousands of visitors each year.

In addition to supporting individual makers through practical assistance and promotion opportunities like Open Studios events; Cockpit Arts also plays an important role in shaping policy around craft education at both national & local levels by working closely with government bodies like Creative Industries Federation (CIF) & Crafts Council UK (CCUK).

Overall,Cockpit Arts has established itself as an essential resource for anyone looking to pursue a career in craft or design. The organization's commitment towards nurturing talent while promoting traditional crafts makes it stand out from others.Cockpits Art’s dedication towards creating sustainable businesses for artists while raising awareness about handmade objects’ value makes it an ideal platform for aspiring artists who want recognition for their work. Its efforts towards shaping policies around crafts education make it an influential player within government circles too.So if you're looking for inspiration or support on your own creative journey,Cockpits Art should be your go-to destination!
