Chips were lovely, but the wait was a tad excessive for 1 portion of chips.
Open until 9pm on a Sunday, great fish and chips.... Worth a visit
Charming little fish and chip shop on the island run by lovely local staff.
Never a bad experience and great fish and chips
Roast lamb dinner just didn't quite deliver... Lamb could've been much juicier, roast were a little tasteless although we're real potatoes, and gravy seemed like it was bisto. Other veg was nice and the portion size was fair
Good fish and chips, we always go here when we visit Hayling. Never eaten in, we walk across the road to sit on the beach.
Amazing, quick and very safe all at a good price love it x
We had cod n chips with mushy peas as was our want to enjoy this award winning chippy on our trip around uk from nz. Quaint and idiosyncratic as is maybe but the meal was delicious,
Wonderful food. Worth making a B line to visit time and time again.
Excellent freshly cooked fish and chips. Very good service. Wot more could you ask for by the seaside.
Good location, good service, efficient in times of 'social distancing', nice fish and chips (better than many, not quite as good as some) and reasonable prices.
Good socially distanced queuing system, and good food!
The food is lovely and the service is excellent. The staff are so friendly. Prices are reasonable.
Very nice food, fish & chips were lovely, staff friendly and helpful
Very good fish is cooked after you order it and a nice restaurant to eat in and pleasant staff
The best fish and chip restaurant I've ever been in. Staff so friendly, great portions and lovely atmosphere.
Pleasant place excellant cod an chips and very efficient staff.
Not a good experience not a good service at all what in their waited for service table in front of us was clear table behind it was cleared still no service after 10 minutes appalling not good at all I don't recommend this place at all
She let me do my own vinegar. That's important. Fresh fish. Freshly cooked fish. Don't take Scottish money, they hate it.
Very good fish and chips, just across the road from the beach
Great welcome and the fish and chips have to be some of the best we've had. If you are in Hayling Island and near this place please give it a try.
Fresh fish, proper mushy peas, good chips and friendly staff.
Very well cooked tasty Fish and Chips. Service with a smike and very polite staff. Shame that the Fish portion was quite small! Infact about 1/2 size of what is served by Rock and Roe in Egham. Which is just as well cooked and served as that from the Coastguard Cafe.
Best take away fish and chips on the island !! Impressed they use locally sourced potatoes too.
Good food, good prices, good setting and most of all good service. Even better on a cold wet, windy winters day / night for a warm up and a nice welcome.
Expensive brekfeast for what you got and very dirty inside I had put napkins across table
You won t get better cod and chips than here, friendly service from their young staff as well
Great chips, however fish was quite oily and heavy. Overall nice and not bad value for money.
Good food but fish much smaller then previous years
Can't say I was too impressed with the Coastguard Cafe, after all the positive reviews I was expecting better. The fish was overcooked and chewy and my chips were greasy and didn't taste of much. They also messed up my girlfriend's order, which to be fair they did sort out quickly. I don't know if it was because they were just super busy but I definitely think improvements could be made.
Been here quite a few times when visiting family , but today was the last. The cream on my wife's dessert was off and tasted off to three of us at table. The staff wouldn't accept it was off and insisted we paid for it even thou it was untouched.
Very good chippy with all the usual menu, and right across the road from the beach which is a great setting to sit down and eat.
Horrible and rude staff, forgot items on our order and careless about customers. Good chips though.
Had fish cake and chips, chip probs were generous and tasty, nice one.
Lovely fish and chips, very welcome on a windy weekend. Their covid-19 measures are good and well organised. Also just opposite a seaside car park so you can park facing the sea and eat your fish and chips there.
Best fish and chips in the south, and even better service by a group of courteous and professional youngsters. Always happy to reserve a spacious table for our family and baby (and highchair). Always a pleasure.
Great place, as there is take away and eat in. Has lovely service and GREAT fish and chips. If you're near by it is a must to go eat there.
Popped for a quick cod & chips before sitting on the beautiful beach.
Large queue outside indicated the place is popular for a good reason.
Social distancing well maintained with only one person in shop and slalom line in front.
It took a good 20+ minutes of waiting to get food but.. the fish was perfect.
Great fish & chips. Not greasy...just right. Quick service. Would visit again ...thanks and I don't really like F&C !!!
The staff are very friendly and the chips are good
Completely unprofessional i did work here but then was fired for being seasonal staff even tho the sign for "seasonal staff wanted" went up 3 MONTHS! after i started working. Also they didn't have the common courtesy to speak to me face to face but through TEXT D:
Fantastic, best chips ever, lovely shop, friendly and welcoming
Normally great but today awfull dirty oil made the batter bitter and dark and chips tasted old. Asked for little salt on chips and had to stop the young man who obviously hadn't listened and was putting salt on fish as well... Don't really want to go back
My partner purchased large fish and chips to share today, the fish was dry and over cooked and the chips were all stringy with nothing inside the middle, worst take away food I've ever tasted
Brilliant fish and chips takeaway. Pea fritters are amazing!!
Lovely little place, sunshine in the evening, lovely
Food is always very cheap and the staff very polite and friendly
We had takeaway which is our habit and then sat in the car park overlooking the sea. Good chip shop and good service.
Amazing there may be ups and downs but in the end this place is amazing!
Nice fish and chips - caught it just as it was closing but still the food was good. Nice friendly staff who had clearly had a very busy day so hats off to them for being so bright and breezy.
Used to be a very nice place to have fish and chips but the last few times we have been there the fish has tasted horrible over cooked in old dirty oil won't be going there ever again
A good service once meal was returned as inedible
Very busy but managed the social distancing very well
Covid precautions in place, friendly efficient service, food nicely cooked. Thank you.
Ordered large fish and large chips when I opened the box found large cod and a few chips. Tasted OK but a bit put off thinking about the 4 young people work there all with longish hair so was on the lookout whilst eating. Won't be going again!
