Excellent fresh fish and chips. Reasonable price but needs a proper coffee machine.
Clean tidy place good food and Drink friendly staff
Service was terrible, chips were under cooked the sausage in batter was sodden in fat had to spit it out because sausage was cold in the middle a very under cook. Avoid this place people like the plague
Portions good but the batter was horrible and cooked in old oil
The best fish and chips I've had for a long time. Crisp and tasty and of course fresh!
Perfect chips and the best battered sausages I've ever had.
Great as usual especially the fish. Not greasy at all.
Travelled over 50 miles for Mothers day lunch....Best fish and chips you can get
Visited the Coastguard Cafe with my partner and grand kids. There was a queue out the door which was a good sign. I had cod and chips which was very reasonably priced. The service was fast, efficient and very friendly. We took our meals on to the beach to eat. The cod was amazing as were the chips. Very healthy portions. You could sit outside the cafe, or sit down in thr cafe. Ill definitely be going there again, very nice.
I'm not normally a fish and chips kinda girl but I really enjoy them from The Coastguard Cafe. Best on Hayling!
Sent to the takeaway. Lovely cod and chips. Recommended.
Was expecting great things, but cod was flavourless
Good food, nice friendly staff and reasonable prices.
The best chips around, excellent chicken nuggets too!!
Great food, friendly staff and a cosy feel to the place - small but works well.
Best Fish and chips ever.
Try to beat them
Tiny portion of fish and chips for the money!
I waited in a queue for absolutely ages to be served the tiniest piece of fish I have ever seen (with the exception of Minehead), with the strangest looking batter, put on top of a tiny portion of Luke warm chip bits!
What has happened to this chip shop, as last year when I went there, the food was great, maybe they have new owners, as the girl cooking the fish looked like she is still of school age??
Please get some more competent maturer staff who know how to cook, or just sell the place to somebody who wants to make the business work, as its close to the beach and has a restaurant attached, so it has potential in the right hands of people who want their customers to be happy with the food quality, and the service, as this was not good value for money, you can achieve better if you put your mind to it!
Brill food as always, covid secure measures were great!
Being a "holiday" island, there are many cafes and restaurants on Hayling. I consider the Coastguard Cafe to be the best. Cosy, warm, nicely decorated and very clean, you can be sure of a warm welcome from the lovely staff who will do everything to ensure you have an enjoyable visit. The food is excellent, well priced, and served quickly and with a smile. I particularly like their "build your own breakfast" feature, choosing individually priced items from the menu to suit your own taste. All this and a seafront view on top! Perfect!!
Nice fish and chips, good prices. Across the road from the beach and a sand park so perfect place to enjoy lunch. Only irritation was the serving staff were more interested in their phones and going to chat with the boys out back that they got the order wrong and overcharged!
Very tasty fish and chips. Expect a queue on a Friday evening. Cash only was only letdown.
It's been a while since we sat in to eat because we like to sit on the beach with our food. Always stop here for takeaway though when we are on the Island. Great food, great staff.
Food was great service was terrible had to wait 10 minutes before they cleared the table took our order and still didn t clear the table food came out still hadn t even gave us our cutlery but was quick to take our money. Would I go again yes I would and hope it was a one off with the service hence only 3 stars.
Excellent location, very tasty food, good service cosy seats. Price are reasonable.
Is just opposite to a huge carpark (pay&display) with public toilet, but if you park front of the pub is free. The little train stars from there too. They do have restaurant and take away too. The take away is a bit creeper. They have sitting area outside in the summer.
Really nice fish and chips. Service courteous but a bit slow - but people were queueing outside to get in!
Poor effort!! Batterd cod was so soggy it stuck to the paper and fell apart! "Large" chips?? Pha!! Award winning fish and chips??.... must of been a FIX!! Or standards have took a nose dive during the winter period!... 100% Nobbies fish and chips everytime!!
Excellent meal. Very friendly staff. Would definitely recommend
Went to a chippy on the seafront ?didn't look at the name staff where nice fish and chips I've had better but it was ok
The chips were great I have ibs and they didn't make me bad well done
Love the coastguard cafe. Often busy but worth the wait. There's nothing quite like having fish and chips on the beach!
Great fish and chips with good service and good with a small child
Lovely quick stop her with the missus for a sandwich and pot of tea
Lovely food, right on the sea front, good prices, decent portions
Omg, amazing food although rather small portions of fish for the price
Lovely service and great food! The only thing I would change is to have more gluten and lactose free meals so my friend can chose a safe meal and drink for herself
Went down to Hayling Island today had a great time with the family by the beach and stuff. Everything was going so well until we decided to get a late lunch at the Coastguard Cafe on Hayling Island seafront. We'll I ordered three lots of large cod and chips from the lady behind the counter. And what we got back was a small bit of fish and dried up chips in all packets. Sadly we had already left this place and where on our way upto the marina so didn't complain. But anyone who does intend using this cafe, don't don't don't its overpriced and the food is far to small and dried up. I've visited a few chippies on Hayling but this one really takes the p... And as I earlier mentioned don't do it go to another chippy on the island. By the way I created this account in my name just to voice my opinion on this overpriced, downsized fish and dried up chips chippy.
Pleasant staff. The girl waiting was on her own & remained calm & friendly throughout being busy..
Had a great meal lovely welcome and warm amosphere!! Thankyou!
Cosy with a very warm welcome, lovely fresh food with plenty of vegetables, I had the homemade fish pie with cheesey mash topping and my husband had the gammon, chips, egg and pineapple with peas plus a big pot of tea and a Pepsi for a More
