I was referred by my primary care physician to Dr. Pankhaniya and promised a 25% discount. He spent maybe five minutes with me and was typing loudly on a computer keyboard along with dictating into his micro recorder, the whole time.
After my visit, in the billing department and I was charged $247. They claimed it was a discounted price due to their relationship with my primary care office and because I was a self-pay patient.
In calling around after I got back to my office it was determined that $165 was the average price for an initial consultation with a nephrologist in our area. Frankly, I believe I was fleeced and would recommend anyone considering becoming a patient here, do their homework, self-pay or otherwise.
It seemed like they were a mill churning patients in and out as quickly as possible. I was uncomfortable and it was unprofessional. This is my health we are talking about and should be of the utmost importance to them because it certainly is to me.
