The location of the hotel is perfect right next to the beach. Rooms are nice except when we checked into our room we found a sweatshirt and old linen on the pull out couch for my kids. The housekeeper was quick to change the sheets though and the rest of our stay and service was amazing!
As a tourist I felt like they were not trying to just do their job there. It felt more like it was a family run business and everyone WANTED to be at work. The love and care they put into their job showed immensely and If I ever go back to the middle of nowhere California, I am staying here for sure. The view is surreal. I wish I could upload a picture to show you. p.s. I am not a warm weather person, but I did find myself enjoying the poolside view of "the cliffs". Even the children in the pool area seemed to be well behaved. I know that was coincidence, but usually that is not the case, especially in the summer months at resorts.
Went for brunch! Got the buffet, mom got eggs Benedict. The gentleman manning the omelet bar and waffle iron was great. Pastries were good, fruit offerings were subpar (green bananas, generic grocery store apples and oranges, but good watermelon). Orange juice is an overly sweet concentrate. Service was great.
Very nice, exquisite hotel, right on the cliffs above the ocean. Friendly staff.
Little pricey for what the hotel is. Seems to be refurbished but still the rooms are a little dated and doors don't shut well. Thin walls and can hear the neighbors easily. The continental breakfast was $22 or 2 for $30 at the restaurant next door. Also a $28 per night facility fee. Watchout for all the extra charges!
We went for dinner at Marisol. We made the reservation ahead of time and were seated early with a beautiful view of the ocean. It was almost sunset. Not too cold, but I'm glad we were sitting inside because I get cold easily and once the sun went down it got a little chilly. The menu was wonderful, and the waiter was super helpful with our special dietary needs. Everything looked wonderful on the menu. My husband is the one on the limited diet, but I got one of the specials, the beef Wellington. It was tender and perfectly cooked. The wait staff was attentive and our night was very nice!
Really nice place with rooms that have back doors straight to the beach. Dog friendly as well! Good restaurants nearby!
Not happy that Banquet staff did not/could not locate a jacket left on chair within 15 minutes after leaving it there. Management only sympathized. desk clerk on duty was not helpful at all.
One of our all time favorite spots. Gorgeous grounds over looking the ocean with beach access. Awesome pool area. Dog/kid friendly. Comfy beds. Great happy hour appetizer selections. Only downfall that has been consistent over the years is sloooow restaurant service, but we go for the view and the experience. The food is good, however I am so sad they took my favorite salad (chopped cob) off the menu. For these reasons, I rated 4
Great staff....close to good restaurants... surroundings are amazing for walking..
Wonderful place to stay and warm and friendly staff. It's also located in a nice scenic area next to the coast.
Been at their restaurant (Marisol) several times (for both happy hour at the bar and dinner at the restaurant) and always loved it. Food is great and the atmosphere is beautiful being right on the coast. Sunsets here are hard to beat. They were a bit short staffed when I was last there, but service was still pretty quick and very friendly. Definitely recommend is you're nearby.
Beautiful ocean front hotel! The staff was helpful and welcoming! Pet friendly and worth every penny!
Our room is definitely worth a 5 star rating, but dinner at their Marisol Restaurant gets a 3 or below.. :(
Gorgeous resort! The ocean view from my room was breathtaking. The service at the resort and restaurant Marisol great. Everyone was super nice and helpful. Already planned my next stay!
Situated atop Pacific Ocean cliffs with sparkling water views and direct beach access for surfers or general sightseeing. Property is well maintained with attractive landscaping set behind scenic path along cliff's edge. Happy hour each evening and buffet breakfast with more ocean views add to the desirability of this hotel. Nice market and deli with wide selection of wines is a five minute walk for stocking hotel room refrigerators. Close to Pismo Beach and Shell beach with many additional restaurants and shops. Friendly staff. Virtually guaranteed to be a relaxing experience.
Our company used the hotel for an event. The room was really well put together, the food was good, and the servers were amazing. They really helped us put on an amazing event.
Nice location, clean room, awesome valet staff. Pool and hot tub are not working. Cannot watch demand movie in room because we are not even check in. Concierge offered free movie for pool situation, but we could not get the movie.
I went to a wedding there of my cousin. The food was delicious.
Very relaxing and welcoming spa. Great massage therapists and estheticians!!
!Great Wedding Venue! After looking around pretty extensively, we chose the Cliff s for our October wedding and now that it is all finally said and done I can say that was one of the best things we did. Anna Fergus, their in-house wedding manager, is simply amazing. I cannot imagine a more kind, upbeat, professional, competent and understanding person who helped us every step of the way and knew just how to pull of the perfect event. We initially steered away from the Cliffs as we thought it would be out of budget, but after adding up the costs of other venues I reached out to Anna to put together a budget, and it wound up being great value. The venue is stunning; getting married on the water is pretty hard to beat. I cannot recommend Anna and her team at the Cliffs enough, she is wonderful!
Nice place but not at all like the way you may see it online via their website.
Excellent hotel! Views from every room! Beds are comfortable and staff is very nice! We will be back when in the CC again!
Great view!!! Was here for a job conference, will probably come back with the wife
Incredibly friendly staff, great hotel and a wonderful location right on the cliffs above the beach. The pool is popular but they also have steps down to the beach with sand to the right or tide pools to the left. The restaurant serves a great breakfast and the bar at night is a perfect spot to watch the sun set.
Friendly, helpful staff. Nice rooms. Well cared for property. I attended a conference and the meeting rooms and meals were very good.
Really a glorified best western. Very pricey. Extremely clean and friendly. The pool is much smaller than the pictures. That was a disappointment. Great location for sure. Restaurant is just ok. Drinks are really strong.
This is the second time we have stayed at The Cliffs. Our first visit, we missed out on going to the spa, which is why we came back. Kylie, the spa/gift shop manager was great to work with. We wanted a couples massage, but booking with just a few weeks advance, they only had two appointments left, back to back. We booked it since this visit was a special one, to celebrate my husband's birthday! A few days before our appointment, Kylie was thoughtful enough to call us because a cancellation made a couples massage available earlier in the day. I really appreciated her effort to reach out! Unfortunately, we wouldn't have been in Pismo in time. Alas, we had a wonderfully relaxing spa session. Tatiana was great! I knocked off 1 star because of an unfortunate situation upon arrival. Walking up to our room, we found a bloodied towel on the floor in front of our door. I understand that this wasn't intentional, and it was likely left by a guest, but I didn't feel like the response to the situation was enough.
clean spacious rooms. beautiful pool. happy hour and snacks in the lobby. friendly staff. can access the beach from a trail in the back as well
We were at the cliffs July 24-27 2016 and we were there last yr as well.Everything was great last yr,this yr was really BAD We ate dinner the frist nigth at there restaurant abd got so sick dinner came back up Thought it was the long drive so we ate breakfast and did the same thing.we will not eat there again.Tje spa was great the views wonderful the drinks good.We also had the dog with us he is a little white fluffy thing he went under the bed and came out gray the dust6 was bad.Don't if we will return even with the free night we have.I think we will try the Dolfen or spyglass.we ate at both of them and the were very good.I woulg give tje Cliffs 2 stars for the views and the spa
The resort was beautiful. It was easily the best price to luxury value on the beach.
Absolutely wonderful resort! It s located between LA and SF, in Pismo Beach. The views are stunning all around. We had a very nice room and also were impressed with the restaurant and pool. Would definitely recommend staying here if you are visiting the area!
I love this hotel and the restaurant! The only place I stay when I come into San Luis Obispo area!
I arrived in the room and the toilet wasn't flushed. The phone wasn't working and it was frustrating. Other than that, it's a nice place.
We went for brunch around 11 a.m., the food was a good quality however there was not much selection. The price was about $45 which was in line with other resorts on the beach Overall I would return however I would suggest to add a few more breakfast items during the brunch.
We had our honeymoon here in 2005. Best week ever. Room was great with a perfect view. We're moving back to California this summer and can't wait to get back to this wonderful memory.
Enjoyed outdoor concert on cliffs overlooking ocean; beautiful! Drinks were expensive though strong making up for free admission.
This place was amazing. Spend the extra money and get the suite with ocean view. The food was exceptional as well.
I cannot say enough good things about this resort. Best massage I've ever had at their spa on site and the views are amazing. The bar is great except for one very rude bartender. The others were great! Pool area is nice and the restaurant had some of the best food I've had. Good options too. During Thursday Night Football they have theme pizzas at the bar for free.
Used to be fantastic. We got married there. Came back for 5 year wedding anniversary, and got charged a smoking fee when I didn t smoke, got the anniversary card I prepaid on the wrong day, and when it arrived it 2 days late it said happy birthday. Other services I prepaid were never received. When I reached out to rectify my bill, the took off about 1/4 of the erroneous charges, then the exchange soured and they ultimately accused me of smoking in the room even though I did not. This place does not deserve your money. I paid over 2k to be insulted and have a special weekend ruined.
Food was amazing and service was great was just little thrown off by making reservations for 8 yet they didn't have table to sit us all together
Very clean and professional, parking is all valet . Definitely coming back .
Had an amazing trip with family friends. I ve been here twice this year and will definitely be back many times after.
The food was great as well as the service! We were cold and the waitress let us move tables with no problem.
Kind staff, needs a little more attention to detail. Gym equipment is faulty, tv cable has no signal on many channels
Very nice rooms, great view, can't beat the views and literally right over the pacific ocean
My dad and (new!) step mom got married at the Cliffs on September 30th. The grounds were absolutely amazing, and the suite they stayed in superb. The staff couldn't be more helpful - from maintenance to the front desk to the wedding coordinator. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish.
My husband and I just got married here this month and I m so glad we chose this hotel!! We both couldn t be any happier with the outcome! So gorgeous with excellent staff!! Especially Anna, the head wedding coordinator! I never once stressed or worried about anything because she was on top of everything making sure our needs were met and always wore a cheerful smile! If you re looking to plan a wedding or just a vacation, this is definitely the hotel to turn to!! Thank you again!!:)
Our room was by the trail that leads to the Ebb Tide pools. Small more private beach area. Huge bed, comfortable sheets, robes that double as towels, thick towels. Didn't get to use the pool, hot tub or spa.
Absolutely love this place. One of my favorite hotels in one of my favorite towns.
The grounds are very pretty. While in the pool you could see the ocean, warm up in they're generous size Jacuzzi, or sit by a large fire pit and watch the sun go down.
We had dinner at the restaurant Marisol. My wife, daughter, and our friends with 2 kids of their own. For being a nicer restaurant they were very accommodating for how active our kids were. The server never batted an eye when they were making a fort under the table when the meal was done. As for the food we ordered the ahi tacos, carne tacos, fish and chips and their burger. The kids shared pasta with marinara and chicken fingers with fries. All the food was great and well cooked and seasoned.
My mom ordered the jumbo prawns. Out came 6 small shrimp. 20 something dollars. The food used to be great. It's a scam now.
I probably shouldn't give it 5 stars because then other people will come here but it's exactly what my family and I need.
The appitizer was okay. The poke was AMAZING, the wedge salade was delicious. But the salmon was dry and burnt. Customer service was great
I only ate some food and had a drink or three at the restaurant here but I had a great time. The food was good, the staff was ok, and the location was absolutely beautiful. I'll be back for another meal when I'm in town. Good times!
Try Marisols while there....Chessboard is the BEST!!
Really pretty pool area, access to a public beach, that's about it for the pros. WiFi is spotty, non-existent when the hotel is hosting an event. Talked up the restaurant in the hotel but it's nothing to write home about. If as much effort went into the rest of the hotel that went into decorating the pool it might have been good.
Beautiful place, delicious food, and spacious room.
If you are in town go visit the pool. That's what all the locals do. They also have free smores but get there quick, they are definitely not reserved for those staying at the hotel. Don't worry they will not ask you if you are staying there. And the towels are free too. Paid for by those paying at the hotel. Otherwise nice place.
5 days over Thanksgiving Nice beach hotel. Staff very helpful & happy
Was pretty nice. If you want to see the ocean, specify "ocean view" over "coastal view".
Great location. Great service. Very welcome staff. Very sad that we could not use the facilities due to covid-19
Marisol at the Cliffs is an enjoyable experience. The food is almost always on point and the drinks are always priced fair. You can't beat a sunset from the Cliff's bluffs, it's beautiful.
This is place is definitely a nice family resort! It was my middle point for my roadtrip from San Francisco to San Diego. I purchased 2 nights to this resort through Groupon and boy was I so glad/lucky that I did! [[ My stay here was Wed July 1st, 2015 until Friday, July 3rd, 2015 ]] Only regret is that I didn't stay longer. It is worth the upgrade to get a pool view if you have kids (if you have older kids-parents you can see your kids from the balcony!)... Or I can totally see couples wanting a beach view in case a little romance is desired. The lobby is nice and wifi is definitely stronger there than in the rooms. The wifi in our room was chopping and repeatedly disconnected more annoyingly too often However, people should come here to disconnect anyway so I was ok with not having internet. Rooms are clean, porcelain bathtubs, and updated bathrooms , valet was quick and efficient (shout out to Ryan! He was very sweet and recommended some good eats close to the area). Oh.... the pool and the view was so gorgeous! I would definitely come back.
One of the most beautiful hotels. Be sure and take a walk
