I have been taking my dog here for over 5 years. My dog is very energetic and can be reactive, but they work with her and her specific needs.

Each day they take the dogs for a walk in groups of 5, 1 hour nap time, play time outside in the yard, indoor play time and a daily training focus, such as 10 minute sit stay, confidence building, find the treat, agility etc.

The owner loves dogs, but is also business minded, so her priorities are on the care of the dogs and customer service.

Recently, they built an outdoor fenced off agility/play area, which the dogs love.

I have found that many other doggy day care facilities in the city have based their program structure on the Clever Canines model.

Clever Canines also has a facility where they train dogs to smell cancer. This further compliments their ability and dedication toward the dogs in their care.

We recently took the clever canines pup start class. It was online which we were skeptical about, however the class turned to be a total success for us. When we needed one on one we were able to meet at clever canines with the instructor (Tracie) and she was able to help us and navigate our questions and concerns. We have a large breed dog so we wanted to ensure we stayed on top of training for various reasons. A few pro's of the online classes is you never had to be out in bad weather and you were able to sit at home and hear everyone's questions about their own dogs. Tracie always took her time with the whole class online to answers questions and even followed up with emails with extra information. Videos were also sent out so when you had to practice with your pup you had a visual to look back on.
I don't feel we missed out on having a face to face class except that it would have been great to see the other puppies in person and pet them all.
Clever canines did an incredible job at catering to all of us individually and really took the time to adjust their class to make it work for everyone online. I highly suggest signing up if you have a new puppy because ours gained the confidence she needed as did we as owners.
Thanks clever canines!

We have been going to Clever Canines day school 3 x per week for 1 month and are very very impressed with how our 7 month old pup has progressed. Before day school nobody wanted to walk her because it was a tug o war, hugely frustrating. After 1 month she is now walking beside us , at our pace, and everyone is enjoying the outing (including her). Additionally she is calming herself with minimal effort from us (we ask her to sit and stay and she actually does). We loved our dog before Clever Canines but now we actually like her too :)
Can't say enough about how professional , clean and engaging the facility is. Finally the staff is outstanding and truly passionate about their job. Highly Highly recommend!

We have taken our dogs through a few different clever canines programs, the staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Definitely a Paws-itive place for you and your dog to learn!

In an ideal world, on-site training is best, but Tracie and Joe have successfully adapted their Pupstart course for Covid-19 with a combination of virtual classes, day school for pups to learn good social skills and one on one assistance, if necessary (socially distanced, of course). A great beginning for my puppy, and she continues to love day school long after the course has ended.

We took our dog Gus to both Pup Start and Jump Start. Wonderful trainers and would recommend Clever Canines to anybody looking for training for their dogs. Fun, friendly environment and highly recommended.

Our experience with Clever Canines has been exceptional. We have gone from having a dog that we were ready to give up to having a great member of our family!
The Core teaching via Zoom was very well done. Joe has a tremendous skill to be able to watch remotely and make quick corrections/ adjustments for the dog and owner.
The Day School staff and experience has been exceptional and our dog looks forward to going everyday!
I would highly recommend Clever Canines!

I have just taken my third dog through training at Clever Canines and I have enjoyed every class. The difference between your dog before training and after is pretty amazing. There is knowledgeable staff that can answer all of your questions and reassure you that nothing your puppy is doing is unique. I would, and have, recommended the training to anyone with a puppy or even an adult dog that could use a refresher.

We completed the Hybrid Pupstart where we did classes 2x a week on zoom and also some in-person. This fit our lifestyle perfectly as we could join Clever Canines after work from out laptops. I was originally concerned about Sophie not having the socialization, and not getting the hands on attention from the pros but, we found the online learning environment worked better for us for two reasons: 1) our dog wasn't distracted by the other dogs and 2) I could write things down and keep working with her after the training was over. We also brought Sophie to Dayschool a few times where all the training is reinforced and she had amble socialization.

Clever Canine did an amazing job coaching us through video (Tracie didn't miss much!!!) and they are incredibly responsive and supportive. Any questions were addressed either online, offline or in the parking lot :)
We would choose hybrid classes again. they are the best value.

I have never underestimated the responsibility that owners have in raising a well-mannered dog. In turn, the commitment is a big one. It took our family years to get here, and when we did Clever Canines was there to share the responsibility. They have lead us, guided us, supported us and modeled for us what raising a dog needs to look like. Our relationship with Clever Canines goes way beyond a couple of training classes, it is genuinely an invitation into a community of like minded, pupper loving people. I get compliments on how well behaved our 8 month old puppy is all the time, and I know that we didn't get here alone. It takes a village. A pupper loving village.

This July my dog Piper and myself completed The Core dog training program with Clever Canines. I thought in these difficult times Joe did a exceptional job presenting the information through zoom. I quite enjoyed the format, and I was skeptical heading into the class. I would highly recommend the virtual class.

I am now a member of the 360 club and am quite enjoying continuing on with Clever Canines.

Thanks again Joe

We have now completed the Pup Start and Core programs at Clever Canines and are very impressed with the experiences we have had, the knowledge we have gained, and the excellent instructors and wonderful fellow clients and dogs we have met. What a great idea to do our training at a variety of parks and venues around the city! It has certainly opened up a whole new world of places to visit in addition to our usual off-leash parks. In particular, we really enjoyed being downtown, which isn t a place one would normally think of going with a dog, and experiencing stairs, elevators, parkades, traffic noises, sitting/standing on different surfaces, balancing, and going on the C-train. Going up and down an escalator and across a pedestrian bridge were also things we never would have thought of doing with our pup, and we may never do again, but it certainly helped to build our dog s confidence, trust and relationship with us. We also found the seminars very helpful in terms of learning about dog-human communication. The instruction provided by the knowledgeable, enthusiastic and dog-loving staff and owners was top notch. We have recently had the opportunity to call and ask about behavioural issues, and had a very thorough and helpful discussion with Joe. We truly feel like we are not merely former clients, but rather clients for life. We would highly recommend Clever Canines!

We made a big decision to get 2 litter mates, and knew right away we would need some help. After calling a few places, and eventually talking to Joe; we immediately felt the right vibe to try out Clever Canines. We enrolled in their PupStart program with the intent of getting the dogs trained, but what we got was even better. We learned how to keep things exciting, and how to work towards getting the dogs that we want in our lives. We enjoyed doing the PupStart program so much, that we enrolled into their next level of Core classes.

Even through the COVID19 situation, they had a really well executed online course, that has been great for leaving at home, while staying safe. They also have a wonderful day school program that has been a tremendous help with getting them to: meet other dogs, get more hands on training then they would just being at home, and help us to work more closely, one on one with each individual dog.

The entire team has a dedication to quality that is seldom rivaled in most industries, of all types. Highly recommended!

Highly recommend using Clever Canines for the fur babies. Clever Canines was recommended to us by our breeder. As it was 20 years since we've owned a dog - we thought a refresher course would be a great idea. We completed Jumpstart and were surprised that a dog could be trained without a clicker or a treat! . Izzy responded so well to this - we enrolled her in Core. Yes it is a huge commitment - but so is owning a dog. We learned so much and had fun with the group - the time flew by. The leaders, Alex and Bobby are wonderful. They are there to support and answer any questions. At the end of the 10 weeks - the difference in our dog was remarkable! Our dog also attends dayschool and has so much fun with her buddies.

I recently completed Jumpstart with my one year old rescue dog. He is much better on leash and if I continue to be consistent with what I was taught he will be perfect! I also took advantage of the day school that was offered with Jumpstart. When he got home he was the calmest I have ever seen. I am still working hard to ensure I apply the skills I learnt and I often call the office to get more advice which has helped me so much! Thanks for taking my calls Clever Caines!!!

I've been a client of Clever Canines for just over two years, our first puppy, Nimbus, completed PupStart and Core in 2018/2019 and our second puppy, Bernard, completed PupStart and the online format of Core in 2020. The online format of Core was perfect for us during a very busy and difficult time. Classes were engaging and well put together for such a short turnaround and we learned more than we did during the original core because of the additional teaching time. I would recommend Clever Canines to anyone who has a dog or will be getting one and wants to learn to train them to be the best companion you could ask for. If I could give them more than 5 stars I would!

We recently completed the Pupstart program at CleverCanines. Because of COVID-19, the course had been adapted to an online format. We were curious to see if this would work and if we would learn as much as we might in person. Looking back, we believe that the online format was extremely effective - it was easy for our kids to participate, the integration of videos and demonstrations were very well done, and there were less distractions for our puppy in our living room than there would have been in person. We took so much away from the experience and would highly recommend Pupstart.
Thank you to Tracie and the rest of the team for running such a friendly, professional, flexible, and informative class. We loved the experience - it has been amazing for our family!

We had tried 2 other methods of training with our extremely energetic and strong willed chocolate lab with absolutely no signs of improvement. A friend told us about Clever Canines so we gave the jumpstart classes a shot. We put the time and work in and began to see results within weeks. Our lab is now 4 years old and our lab behaves better than we could have ever imagined which gives us the confidence to take her anywhere!

I've taken 3 of there programs now, Pupstart, Jumpstart and Core. I have only positive things to say. My dogs learned so much but what's more is I learned a lot about why my dogs were doing things, dog psychology, dog behavior, why my dog would always bark at people when on leash ect!! Great company, dedicated staff!

The support and knowledge I received from the Clever Canines instructors was amazing. I just finished the CORE program, and though it is time consuming it is worth every penny and what a great way to meet new friends - furry and two legged!!! I now have the confidence and handling skills to walk with my very reactive bull dog which has made our walks so much more enjoyable while I continue to work on lessening his reactivity. Thanks so much Gerry, Andrea and Darren!!

The best training classes EVER. All instructors are fantastic at clever canines, both during class, between classes and even after you've finished your courses. You can simply call them and they try to help over the phone too. The methods they use all make logical sense, are easy to follow through on and teach you how to follow through on the commands you are giving your dog. We did Pupstart in person last fall and CORE this spring. Due to COVID, our classes were all online. They did a fantastic job at this. All instructors explain things clearly and simply. They add videos to demonstrate the skill and give you time to practice it. I still feel like I gained a ton from the online classes. I'd recommend them to anyone and everyone! Should they do a hybrid, some in person and some online, this would also be a fantastic option...in fact quite possibly the best option. Online is great, because you don't have to leave your house and you can practice with great focus on new skills in your dogs comfortable environment. In person is great to add the distraction of other dogs and people.
If you are wondering if the cost is worth it. IT IS. Sign up now. If you put the effort in, you won't regret it!

I took their puppy class and it was absolutely fenomenal. I learned so many tools, I felt really empowered to have a good relationship with my puppy. I also take my puppy to their puppy school, he was shy at the beginning and now he loves it. I can tell he is learning so much there and I get a brake. I feel that they care for him and actually love him. Everyone in clever canine is always super helpful in answering my many questions.

While we had registered for a more traditional in-person dog training experience, this was not possible given Covid 19. As we had some concerns regarding our puppy's behaviour, a decision was made to try the on-line classes. The core principles and content were excellent and provided a good starting point to training our dog. The videos provided a visual for what we were trying to achieve. While it was somewhat difficult to practice in the "den" where the computer was, we practiced outdoors between classes. Joe tried hard to adapt to the new circumstances. He was good at answering questions. There were a couple of opportunities to meet in-dog or in-person so that the dogs could practice their new skills with the distraction of other dogs being present. I am not the most tech savvy person and I was able to navigate the on-line format. While our dog still has a ways to go I no longer refer to her as the puppy terrorist.

We had an amazing experience with Clever Canines. This is an extremely well run business. The staff was great and eager to answer any questions during and after class. We would highly recommend the Core class anyone. We definitely have one of the best trained dogs on our block now.

Our experience with Clever Canines changed our puppy. He is a great dog now due in large part to Tracie's commitment to us in class and beyond. She is responsive and remained invested long after the classes were over. Cannot recommend enough

We highly recommend Clever Canines. We found the 10 week program comprehensive and well considered. It provided us with practical tools to help face a variety of situations and scenarios ie. negotiating dog to dog greetings, riding on elevators, escalators and the c-train, etc. We have a reactive dog and although she is still a work in progress after our 10 weeks, we have made huge strides with the strategies we learned. We also really appreciate the continued support provided through their 360 program where we now have access to a community of dog trainers and other dog owners for tips, fun and shared experiences.

As someone who had never owned a dog (and was a bit nervous around dogs), Clever Canines was the perfect spot for us. They helped us understand not only our dog's behaviour, but the significant impact our own behaviours had on our ability to train our dog Ronnie. Plenty of hands-on opportunity to learn in person with very clear instructions for dog owners to consistently use on their own at home. Over the course of a few months, our dog's behaviour went from fairly unmanageable to largely controllable. With more time post-training with Clever Canines, Ronnie continues to make improvements, as does her owners!

I went to next door to get my oil changed and while I was there heard pups crying the hole time I was curious and took a peek and I saw other dogs caged up and crying with no one there. I have a small dog if I knew that my pup was caged up like this, I would press charges.
This isn't right.
For all you people that are taking your pups to this kind of training places and think That it's proper for your pup to be caged up all day and crying the hole time, rethink about it would you want your child to be caged up all day long!?

My golden doodle needs more than a room to run around with other dogs for 8 hours. The structure of day school has her exhausted mentally and physically. They know their dogs well and care about them. Her monthly report cards always have me smiling about what she gets up to. We also completed pup start with clever canines and were very happy.

I learned a lot from the classes and I was excited to try out there doggy daycare. The first thing I saw when I came in was a Rottweiler tied up the the wall with a muzzle. NOT a good first impression. I was a bit concerned but the staff ensured me that he could not hurt my dog
but I still confused why a dog who has obviously been agressive in the past is still allowed to come? I thought doggy daycare's would tell you not to bring your aggressive dog, right? Do the dog's owners know that he is tied up all day?Luckily I had a free credit so it didnt cost me... I know I do not want to pay these prices just to have my dog tied up all day...

Bottom line, classes are really helpful day care is not what they say it is

We took our dog to Clever Canines when she was just 10 weeks old and she completed their pup start, jump start as well as their core program. There pup start and jump start programs are great, informative, quick and fun, great for puppies plus we met some life long friends in class.

I would highly suggest doing the core program if you can. I know many people who have not done it due to the time commitment however I think it's key to invest the time if you want the tools to be able to train your dog for years to come. Our dog did fairly well in core class however certainly wasn't top of her class. That being said she left the course with the tools and knowledge we needed to keep up on her training and now she is very well trained and socialized. We get comments all the time on how sweet and well mannered our dog is. Plus the classes are a great way to get outside and see a number of dog parks and get to know other dog owners.

For training I would recommend Clever Canines.

We have also used their daycare services a number of times and if your dog is social and does well in groups this service can be handy as well.

Overall happy with our time there and the staff.

We cannot say enough about Clever Canines. We did ...

We cannot say enough about Clever Canines. We did a ton of research before getting our first dog, watched a million training videos on YouTube, and carefully considered what breed would match our active lifestyle.

Some might say that we took a big gamble when decided on a border collie, and at that, ended up with a very high-drive working dog from a sheep farm.

We knew from the beginning that we wanted a very well-trained dog that people would be impressed by. A friend recommended Clever Canines and we enrolled in their online puppy classes due to the pandemic. We really felt that we learned a whole system to train our dog, which was not something that snippets on YouTube were able to deliver.

A few months after finishing, we enrolled in Core class, which was conducted as combination online/in person class. This was an excellent format for our very distractible dog, as he could practice skills in the living room, we could actually listen to the lessons, and then we had a chance to practice every weekend surrounded by other dogs. Our dog really enjoyed the social opportunities at day school as well.

We have now moved to a remote coastal town in BC where most people let their untrained dogs run around freely. We get so many compliments on our little guy s behaviour. He still has so much work to do, but at 10.5 months, he s already much better behaved than 90% of the dogs we run into. We feel like we learned the tools and understanding to continue training him on our own, and have continued to see improvements with consistency.
Thanks Clever Canines!

Absolutely adore everyone here, my dog Espin had such a wonderful experience with them! I love how he got a walk report card everyday and I was always told who he played with that day! Sadly I had to take a break from the daycare but I would highly recommend anyone taking their pup here because it is truely an amazing and warm experience! Worth every penny!

We love to do everything with our dogs, including going to crossfit, craft breweries, enjoying walks, shopping and visiting friends; none of this would be possible without Clever Canines!
They taught us everything we need to know, in order to raise well behaved, respectful, canine members of society and truly enjoy freedom with our dogs The education is priceless! We recommend their training to anybody who wants to achieve the same. Oh...and it s so fun

My husband and I attended the Core course online with Joe. We were hesitant about the format at first, but that hesitation vanished after the first class. We found the online format made it easy to focus on the exercises as there were less distractions for both us and Tucker. The instruction by Joe and the videos were both great and easy to follow. We would be open to taking another online course with Clever Canines, and recommend the classes to others. Thanks for our well-behaved pup!

This is a company that knows what they are doing when it comes to dogs and training. They take training your dog to the next level. We were so impressed with the CORE program and everything we gained from it. Not only has it given us countless tools and knowledge to use while training our dog, it has given Cooper and us, a new found confidence. We learned so much about him through the 10 weeks of training, which has built a stronger bond between us.

Two reasons we selected Clever Canines over other training companies is that you train in real life scenarios from day 1. Touring parks all over the city to give you diverse situations with your dog. The other is that it wasn't treat based training, as our previous training had been. We started noticing our dog would only follow commands with a treat in hand. Their form of training allows you to build a relationship with your dog, which is invaluable. A bonus is how they bring like minded people together, and we were fortunate to make some new friends through the program.

Our instructors were so knowledgeable, encouraging, patient and engaging throughout the entire course. It was noticeable how much passion they have for dogs, and also helping the owners to succeed and achieve what they want from the training. We will never use another company to train any other dog that joins our family. This company is the real deal!!!

Thank you Clever Canines for showing us what we can do with Cooper around our beautiful city. You have changed our lifestyle and opened our eyes and we can't wait to join Club 360 and continue the journey with you!
- Mandy, Dan and Cooper

I signed my puppy up for training sessions with Clever Canines back in December 2020. With new Covid-19 restrictions put in place, we were unable to do outdoor training, but was offered online classes, or to wait. I was hesitant about doing classes online, but to my surprise was VERY glad I took them. I found it to be a better way to train with my dog, and take notes so that I can continue using those lessons during anytime I wish to further his training. I can't believe how much information and help I was given from Clever Canines during the Zoom Sessions! It was such an easy process, one that I would happily do again if need be. I highly recommend doing the online classes, because it not only allows for one on one with your dog, but is a great way to increase your bonding with it, creating an easier way to build trust for better training!!:)
Also... The day school offered is something if nothing else I would recommend you look into! Not only does it allow for socialization for your dog, but they do training during the day!! 5 Stars is not high enough to rate this company!!

Had to update my review as I originally posted from my great experiences from attending their puppy classes. I honestly can't say enough great things about Clever Canines, I looked at roughly 3+ other places to start my puppy classes and continued training and I am so thankful I ended up choosing Clever Canines. I own a Great Dane I have taken their puppy classes, core classes and also joined their Club 360 and she attends their dayschool and anytime she exhibits a new behavior they are able to explain it and if it's an undesirable behavior different methods of trying to correct it. Dayschool is amazing I know she is well looked after and at the end of each month gets a report card on each individual day she attends with remarks on her behavior and gets graded on how well she did her walk and their task for the day (ie 5 min sit). The staff there is amazing and friendly and you can tell they are truly passionate about what they are doing.

We signed up for the Core program at Clever Canines. Our dog (Myrtle) needed work around loose lease walking and bolting towards other dogs, squirrels etc. Our class timing was affected by the Covid 19 Pandemic. Instead of physical classes, we were offered on-line classes with 2 in-person classes over the course of the 10 week program. Hesitant at first, it turned out to be the perfect solution. As dog training is really dog-owner training, the convenience of Zoom meetings meant a lot less hassle of getting to a destination, plus the comfort of learning from our own home. Joe, one of the owners was able to teach, relate, and watch as we worked with Myrtle, then he could correct any errors. We have completed the program and are now using their Day School program where their staff reinforce what we (and Myrtle) learned at Core. The self-control work we did with her at home is now making the dog to dog interactions more manageable than if we had started out with the conventional program. We're lookin forward to participating in their Club 360 program for fun and interaction with more dogs (and dog owners).

I am going to write our experience with Clever Can...

I am going to write our experience with Clever Canines. Our vet recommended it and we thought it was the best place for our dog. First, they never asked us for vaccination certificate or any health records to take our dog there. We were very satisfied at the beginning with the day school services and we even took the pupstart classes.
Our dog tends to eat everything that it's in ground. It's easy to manage and you just have to ask him to drop it or leave it. It's an issue and we were aware about it. But, behind the day school at Clever Canines they have a small backyard with wood chips. Of course, our dog loved it and ate tons of it. The first time, he vomited a hand full of wood chips and we requested the staff to keep him away from it. Wood chips can be very dangerous for dogs, not only can perforate their bowels but it can be poison for some dogs. He is a puppy so it's obvious we should watch what he was eating.
After, a week attending the day school, he vomited again. We talked with staff and requested again to keep him away.
The following week, again the same issue. I emailed the owner (Tracie), never got an response or email.
The issue repeated again and we strongly talked with staff. The answer: We have 77 dogs to watch!!! The ratio of dog/ staff may be 1 staff for 20 dogs. Do they care about dogs? Of course they do, but it's impossible to watch so many of them at the same time. We just asked to keep our dog away from the backyard and they never took any responsibility.
I felt betrayed and I feel the owners may had a good intentions when they started this business but right now it's all about the money.
I will never take my dog there again and I learned to be careful about where and with who I leave my dog. I truly do not recommend this place and please keep your dog away from there.

I just completed JumpStart with my second dog. I did both JumpStart and Core with my previous dog, Daisy. It made such a significant improvement in Daisy s behaviour that I registered again when we adopted Penny. I plan on doing Core with Penny as well. Although she does not have the behaviour problems that our previous dog had, I think all dogs benefit from the consistent approach, mental stimulation and socialization that Clever Canines provides. The instructors are knowledgeable, helpful and friendly, and although the schedule is intense, the outcome is definitely worth it. Having a well behaved dog is such a pleasure!

We recently completed the Core program with Clever Canines. Our trainers Ashleigh & Karli were excellent. We really enjoyed working with our dog and watching her learn new skills. Every class is in a different environment and exposes both you and your dog to new challenges. It was fun watching the other dogs and owners in the group progress as they move through the classes.

We have 3 rescue dogs and have been through several good training programs with other trainers, but Clever Canines was by far the most comprehensive. Well worth the price!

My shepherd Buck, 3 months, took the Core with Amber and Rachel. My goal was to learn some skills to help me train my pup. The class structure of 3 times a week, the pre course work and the training sessions between classes is well thought out. The two seminars are a must for any dog owner. To witness the success and changes in my dog's behavior, how he reacts to me and how much I have learned is beyond comprehension. His walking, his sit stays, how he reacts to my commands and how he can walk at my side is amazing.

We are continuing this journey in the Club 360 and try to pick up two classes a week. The instructors are knowledgeable and supportive, class size is small and intimate. The attendees are dedicated dog owners and often I learn a great deal by watching how they interact with their dog.

I wish we had done this with our previous four dogs. Keep up the great work and thanks for all your help and encouragement as Buck and I strive for our hands free walk through downtown in the middle of Stampede.

Excellent dog training and the staff are incredible - I've been using DaySchool twice/week over the past few months and have noticed a substantial improvement in my 8 month old boxer's energy and ability to focus in our training. I'm so happy I found Clever Canines, and would highly recommend them to any dog owner.

As first time dog owners, Clever Canines has been pivotal in helping us create a safe and fun learning environment for our dog, Ellie. We completed JumpStart and Core this past year, and now Ellie can walk properly on a leash, sit (and stay) for over 40mins, and has gained so much confidence. This is such a difference from her first JumpStart class where we couldn't take 3 steps with her on a leash before she pulled us over! We are so grateful to Joe, Tracy, and the whole dayschool team!

My boyfriend and I enrolled our puppy Harvey in pupstart and core with Clever Canines, and we have taken to him at dayschool as well. The staff at Clever Canines are truly amazing with the biggest hearts, they go above and beyond with their attention to detail and care for every dog they train and help. Our puppy Harvey is very high energy, and Clever Canines has given us the tools and resources to harness his energy mentally on a positive level. Clever Canines is a life saver - all of the staff in our courses has given us exceptional advice and support. Even after training finishes, you can still contact Clever Canines with questions. I have several times, and I find that truly amazing that they care even after training is complete. Clever canines not only trains your dog, but trains you! They believe in educating you to understand your dogs signals, so you can effectively communicate with your dog and build a relationship based on trust and respect. Having the ability to pick up on my dogs signals has made life so much easier, and the training we have done through clever canines truly has given us more freedom in our lives to take Harvey anywhere. For their core program, classes are done all around the city to ensure your dog gets used to different environments, instead of being trained in the same facility. Exposing your dog to different environments is key. I have recommended Clever Canines to many of my friends and family, they are in my opinion the best training facility in Calgary and area. Go train your dog here if you are looking for an excellent training facility and daycare!

I've recently completed the online Pupstart course, and I am so glad I signed up! I got our puppy right before lockdown happened, and I was worried about not being able to socialize him properly. Having the Zoom training sessions, as well as being able to drop him off for full days at their dayschool were so worth it!

I learnt so much about dog behaviour that I feel much more confident in training. Tracie led a great class, and I loved seeing her passion and willingness to offer solutions to any question.

I also really loved the added exposure at the dayschool. I noticed such a huge difference in Louis, and how much more confident he was around new people and other dogs. Every interaction I ve had has been so great with your team, and I will 100% recommend CC to others.

Completed the online zoom pupstart program a few weeks ago and was so beneficial. Our 5 month old Bernedoodle is 50 lbs and already my kids can walk him without pulling. He is so well socialized from dayschool where he gets the chance to play with other dogs and also reinforces the training you are working on at home. I highly recommend these guys and Tracie is always quick to respond to emails and help out with any issues you may be having.

A couple of years ago I contacted Clever Canines in regards to my leash reactive dog. I told them she was large and very aggressive when leashed. They swore up and down they could help my dog with their classes. I spent a HUGE amount of money on the class and showed up to where they told me to meet them. It was the middle of downtown with hustle and bustle and many other dogs around. Naturally my dog was out of her mind. After a few attempts at getting her to settle down the people at Clever Canines asked me to work with my dog alone (yes alone, no trainer) in an alley. Once in a while they would come check on me and then leave.
After the first lesson one of them brought a spiked starmark collar for my dog. I was so insulted and upset that they wanted me to train my dog by causing pain to her. I said no. They sent me back to the alley. I continued to try their methods but at NO POINT IN TIME did they address the fact that she was leash reactive. They just sauntered around with the puppies and well behaved dogs in the main area and sent me off to an alley.
It was disgusting and horrible and every time I see the Clever Canines brand I get choked up. It was a lot of money down the drain and completely not worth it.
These people were only interested in getting my money, promising me results, then working with the well behaved dogs.
I wish I could give less than one star.

Edit: As per the response you won't have this name on file as this is not my actual last name. Yes, it was Clever Canines and I did contact you about it and you never replied. Which is why I took to Google Reviews - I will always try the civil approach first. I will try again to contact you directly.

Being a first time dog owner comes with a lot of questions and concerns, the first ones were how can I make sure my dog stays safe and is mannered in a way that ensures that? When I got recommendation to check out Clever Canines, it automatically clicked. Their programs not only helped my dog, but also helped me understand him on deeper level through the seminars they hold. Being the rambunctious dog Hugo is, that was key because he s a handful. I took him through two classes that they offer, Pupstart and Core. Let me tell you, you d barely believe it s him if you had met him previously . I highly highly recommend Clever Canines. No matter if you have the calmest dog or the most excited dog, they always have a way of helping you reach your goals and give continuous support even after your done the class.

Clever Canines is amazing! I recently finished their CORE program and it was fantastic. The instructors were fun, knowledgeable and excellent at teaching the principles and skills in the course. I continue to rely on the support of Clever Canines staff as my dog changes and discover the need to work through new challenges.

I regularly use their Dayschool and Walkabout programs as well. The trainers for both are top-notch.

I highly recommend Clever Canines to any dog lovers!

We had a very good experience with the Clever Canine online pupstart program. Despite not being able to meet in person, we felt extremely supported by Joe and Tracy. They were very professional, prepared and helpful. They were always available to answer any questions that we had during and after the online class. We are grateful for the socialization that they provided through their day school. We feel much more educated about puppies, our puppy has benefited from the program and we feel part of the Clever Canines family!

We did the Pupstart class and were very pleased with how that went. They care about the training they offer, were great to deal with, and their training approach was effective. I highly recommend their classes.

I love taking Timber to Dayschool, he comes home and just parks himself on his bed all evening. It's perfect for those days you come home from work and have other activities to go to, or just want to have a night out. I also like to keep him socializing with others dogs as he doesn't have much of an opportunity to at home.

We did Jumpstart with Mary & Bobby and I couldn t say more amazing things. We looked at a lot of places before we decided to go with Clever Canines. We heard a lot of great things about them from friends of friends and online. Instantly from the first class we felt like we were already connecting with our dog. Mary and Bobby would take the time to individually work with dogs who were having a tough time concentrating that day. After our 4 classes were done we already have noticed a difference in our dog. We ll always be working at the skills we ve learned but we feel like we know what we re doing, so we show our dog a confidence we didn t have before we started our training. We re thinking about doing another program through Clever Canines with our dog again just so we can go beyond the basic skills and to have that one on one time with her that she wouldn t normally get because we work so often. Seriously thank you so much Mary & Bobby!

Clever Canines is more than just training your dog...

Clever Canines is more than just training your dog. They emphasize how understanding our pet's behavior impacts their overall well being. While it is great our puppy knows how to sit, stay and not pull on his leash - we've learned how to watch out for cues when he is agitated, uncomfortable or stressed. By keeping our dog safe and calm, he is less prone to react aggressively.

Other training centres teach your dog to submit to your demands. Clever Canines helped us bond with our dog so that not only does he completely trust us, but wants to please us. He knows we will keep him safe and in return he listens to our commands.

I had dogs most of my life and when I got my own dogs as an adult I did the regular puppy training, but nothing more. When we adopted Carter he was already 8 months old and clearly came with some baggage and issues from his previous owners. In order for us to be the best for this pup and for him to be his best I saw we needed some really good training. I researched dog training and saw the great reviews for Clever Canines. I called right away and spoke with Joe who was so informative and supportive of what we were embarking on.
We enrolled in the Core training program and it was the best thing investment we could have made for both Carter and us. The hybrid online course and once a week in person meet up was also perfect for our busy schedule. The way the training was conducted and broken down was simple to follow and I was amazed at the progress all the dogs made. At the in person classes the individual attention was welcomed and always came at the perfect time (just when you felt like you had no chance and your dog was impossible-lol). Carter was a handful at in person sessions. His lack of any social interaction with others became very evident. I was never made to feel bad or awkward at any time. Our head instructor Joe who was fantastic also had an amazing assistant Aisha that would swoop in and with ease take Carter away and work her magic. As the sessions went on she swooped in less and less. I really feel without Clever Canines training we would have had a lot of issues with our sweet dog. Carter now has the confidence to be a great dog and we now have the tools to ensure he is successful. My family loves Carter so much. And despite his baggage that he came with I think he is the best trained and well behaved dog I have ever had! Thank you, Clever Canines.

As recent graduates of pupstart & Core, frequent Dayschool attendees and now participating in club 360; we are so happy with the level of knowledge and care the staff provides. A great balance of structure, play and practice has really helped us keep our puppy s learning on track.

Everything we invested into Clever Canines we have received back ten fold. It s so satisfying to see hard work pay off!

We took our new puppy to Jumpstart to get some basic obedience. The classes and instructors were excellent, and we found the training extremely practical, so we decided to keep the training going and enrolled in CORE. While CORE was a huge investment of time and money, it created a great foundation for us and our dog. The classes were very enjoyable and we met some new friends (both human and furry). I feel very knowledge in dog behaviour and training since completing CORE, and would highly recommend it to anyone with the puppy or a dog. We enjoyed it so much, we have now enrolled in Club360 to keep up with the training. Joe and Tracy certainly know their stuff, and I love that we are a part of the Clever Canine family.

If you want to experience true freedom with your furry friend, this is the company for you. I can without hesitation recommend Clever Canines, both the pup start class as well as the CORE class. Pup start allowed me to learn about puppies overall and my little angel, specifically. The CORE class is way more intensive than pup start (equally as fun though), and I was apprehensive about signing up for CORE initially, but the commitment and time both my pup and I invested, as well as the guided homework each lesson, really helped to develop and increase the bond my pup and I have. In addition, the tremendous amount of learning (and enjoyment from doing the homework) obtained by my pup and myself easily, and immediately, outweighed any apprehension I felt in the beginning; in fact, the classes flew by each week and now that they are done, I truly miss the learning, the camaraderie, and my instructors! Finally, a very important point about CORE was the flexibility that clever canines allowed if you couldn't make your regularly schedule class then you could make it up throughout the week - that made a tremendous difference to being able to complete this course. Thank you Clever Canines!!

Honestly, I love my dogs but was quite frustrated with some of their behaviors. Both our dogs attended the Core Program and more importantly I attended too. I learned about why they behave they way they do and that I am the main reason. I learned to be the leader, have confidence in my abilities and our relationship. Our bond has grown stronger, my level of frustration is almost gone and now I love my dogs unconditionally, the way they were meant to be loved. Thank you Clever Canines.

Highly recommend the Clever Canines pupstart program for anyone looking for puppy training - we had such a positive experience with our (then) 12 week old puppy! As one of the first online zoom classes, we felt really lucky to have Tracie as our instructor. The zoom classes were easy to access, and having access to all the demonstration videos after class (and even after the course was finished) was a fantastic resource. Tracie was always available to answer questions by email or telephone, and she even met us for a parking lot training session one day after dayschool so we could work on a few things in person. Having the dayschool sessions included in our course fees was a huge benefit since socialization during quarantine was so difficult. We still continue to send him to dayschool now since our pup loves it there so much. It's nice to know they are enforcing the same rules and training at dayschool that we're working on at home.
We made big progress during pupstart, and we now have the tools to continue training and communicating with our pup as he grows up. Having your puppy walking beside you on a loose hands-free leash is the most amazing thing!

I have been involved with Clever Canines for 4 years with my dog Quinn. We did Jumpstart when she was 6 months old and through no fault of hers, I did not follow through with her training after that. However, I decided to make a commitment and we recently completed the Core program and I would recommend it to Anyone who wants to bond with their dog, learn about canine behaviours and really make a difference in theirs and their dog's life. The instructors were amazing! Always so helpful and happy and obviously love dogs! Thank you Diana, Karen and Colleen! The 'real time' training around the city is much more helpful than being in a classroom setting. Having your dog get used to city noises, have to pay attention when all she really wants to do is eat grass and chase rabbits, made the experience more meaningful. We loved our downtown time on the C-Train, going up and down the escalators and especially sitting on the big concrete balls! I never thought my dog would do that! It is quite scary, but rewarding when you first drop the leash and realize your dog is happily trotting at your side looking to you for guidance and clues. Clever Canines understands and promotes dog behaviours and reactions.
Quinn also attends WalkAbout and it has been a life saver for us. I work long shifts and I can go to work knowing she is safe, having fun and comes home tired and happy after her walks. And because all the WalkAbout staff is also Clever Canines trained they have been supportive in her ongoing training.
We are enjoying Club360 and I hope to be able to attend more of their programs in the upcoming months. A huge thank you to Clever Canines for allowing me to enjoy my dog again!!

I am very happy with my experiences with Clever Canines. I started out with my Golden Retriever pup, Maya in PupStart. I gained valuable knowledge from the excellent instruction to get us started on the right foot. The classes were fun both both of us.

Maya attends DaySchool a few times a month. The staff in the DaySchool are awesome. They continue to work on the core principles with our dog. My husband is continually amazed by the invisible line the dogs wait behind when he comes to drop off Maya. Our pup gets to socialize in a safe setting and comes home tired not just from playing, but from thinking.

Maya is now 9 months old and we just finished CORE. It was a very worthwhile investment and worth every minute of my time. Once again, the instruction was excellent and the classes were fun. Each 1 1/2 hour lesson flew by. The instructor always made time for questions, during and after class.

I highly recommend Clever Canines!

Our Family found great success through clever canines popstar classes. During COVID-19 the classes transition to Zoom. Even though we were sceptical about continuing through Zoom we found the classes were still effective. The only downfall to not being in the facility was not having other dogs around. We put our dog into a doggy daycare at clever canines which made up for not being around dogs. We were so pleased with the classes that we are continuing with the clever canine court classes. Their methods of training worked very well for our puppy as it was not treat driven like other training classes that we have taken. There videos online where also very helpful if you miss or need to review anything.

Although the staff was pleasant and facilities were clean, I noticed that the dogs are crated at various times throughout the day. In my opinion, the reason for daycare is that my pets can play all day. If I wanted them crated I would leave them at home.
