The place is nice, the service is friendly and the food it was good.

Great place for a few drinks with friends after work. Food isn t great, but beer certainly is. And this place gets packed soon on a game night. Although what sucks is, if there s a Hartford yard goats game or something going on, they will not do happy hours.

Great atmosphere and good food! Love the funky old building and the live music was nice. Will be back soon!

(I ordered the Buddha Bowl with grilled chicken instead of tofu, delicious and a little spicy)

Beer is fine, but nothing special. The service however is terrible. Waited over an hour and a half for food and it wasn't even busy.

City Stream Brewery was an amazing place to have dinner. I had gluten free Mac and cheese which was amazing and my colleagues had burgers, which they said were equally good. The beer menu is decent and the downeast cider they have is delicious. Definitely would eat here again.

City steam, the game(pool) bar sports bar comedy bar maybe even a dance bar food is decent service that's okay and the place is a bit of a maze thought you need directions when you get inside but otherwise it's a decent place to have a good time.

Great service and the light beer was pretty good. Prices are decent at $8-15 range, more or less. I ordered the nachos with melted cheese and they were a bit cold, but it was good overall. It's a quick and decent place, nothing to fancy. I wouldn't bring a first or second time date there though.

Great draft beer. Very welcoming servers. Have a pool table and arena area for private parties.

My server was amazing and fast, unfortunately when I had an issue with my beverage being too strong I had it remade, when doing so they put red pepper into my drink. This ruined the experience and the meal.

Great food, helpful staff members, always awesome character. They charge convenient pricing and the food quality is great. Fantastic work.

The Mrs and I seated ourselves on a Friday afternoon and it took 15 minutes to get a waitress and another 10 to get water and an additional 5 to receive our pitcher of beer. poor waitress with a s poor attitude with less aptitude. the first conflict unfolded when I let her know we would like some water please. she then proceeded to tell me that "we usually don't serve water". right them I knew I should have gotten up and ate elsewhere. our meals were good: fish n chips for me and the Mrs ordered the chicken tacos. so minutes pass and the server asks: "how is everything"?? I paid her no mind and allowed the Mrs to respond in kind. however, her tone revealed her interest in gaining "a rise" from me. sorry. My aptitude is far more superior to her attitude. simply an unwelcoming feeling overall and certainly not worth my time and money to ever patron this watering hole ever again. Get some customer relation skills for this uppitey waitress. I would've preferred Denny's.

Great beers and pub food. But the comedy show is the best.

My visit started off pleasant. My drink and appetizer were delivered in a timely manner. Unfortunately I waited about an hour before a different server asked if I needed my waitress. She must of noticed the empty glasses and dishes that were still there, after passing me several times herself. (I would say the place was not even up to 25% capacity at the time of my visit.)
Later I had to get up and look for my server to ask for a box. (I don't wish to use her name on Social media, I think it is rude). My side dish was never received so when my bill came (that I had to wait some time for, as well)I had to ask for the side dish to be removed.
Now I had to wait for the return of my credit card. There was a clear view of my server and another engaging in conversation while spucing up their ponytails as I waited yet again. Almost two hour lunch. I'm so glad I wasn't due anywhere soon.
On a normal dining experience I would typically leave about a 20% tip. But also I am becoming annoyed with tipping for bad service. I hate to admit but I did leave her a sad tip. Only because she was friendly just not very attentive. Otherwise I think I may have left nothing. Which is VERY unlike me being in customer service industry myself.
As far as the meal itself, not bad. When I first arrived there were advertisement for comedy club show tonight, but now I think we'll pass.

The place looked cool to hangout in and the beer was pretty good. Unfortunately, the food kinda sucked. Started with kids grilled cheese... i know, weird to complain about, but if your paying $7 for grilled cheese it should at least be grilled. The cheese was still cold in the center. Loaded tots were funny tasting with generic store bought pulled pork(like the stuff you get from costco or sams) sloshed on top. The cheese dip with the pretzels had seperated some and was clumpy. Would not visit again

Great beer but they do lack vegan options....the bean burger was ok...but very mushy making it difficult eating on a bun. However, we had great service and the atmosphere was fun and lively.....i will be back!

OMG. I love the new look. We had Burgers and humongous nachos that were both awesome. Hysterical server was incredible and attentive. We will definitely be back. I highly recommend checking out this Hartford landmark eatery you won t regret it.

I had the Thai Chicken skewers and the Knuckle-buster steak sandwich which was pretty awesome. I've had a couple of the beers on tap at other places in West Hartford but wasn't really into them, but here at the Brewery I had the Flowers of Edinburgh and Czars & Girls both of which are awesome and I would highly recommend.

Ignored by server all night, food was garbage. Am currently sitting waiting 20+ minutes waiting to pay my check while I'm trying to go home, and another server told us it was last call.

Both experiences I've had here have been pretty poor. The service is slow and the food is pretty tasteless. I probably will not be returning

Great brew pub, food was awesome, beer was fantastic.

I just ordered my first burger from city steam through grubhub and even after the 5 mile ride my burger was great! It was totally at room temperature and I still thought it was excellent, it was juicy, and cooked to a perfect medium.

Food was good, prices reasonable but the carrot cake was phenomenal!!! And HUGE

Cool historic building, good food, great beer. Service was a tad slow but very friendly.

We drive from NC to Maine to visit family and stay at the Residence Inn in Hartford. This was our 2nd time for dinner. Beers are great...I normally don't like craft beers. The food is good with good sized portions. Service has been great both times.

Stopped in for a quick bite, love the new smaller menu - keep it simple and do it right. Burgers and nachos were great! I like that they are sourcing local products as well such as Adolph's and Bliss Farms. Took a growler to go so we can enjoy the beer at home.

Decent food, nice atmosphere and great beer selection. Go here frequently with coworkers and has never been a bad time. Food is not amazing but above average for bar food. There is plenty of seating and a large bar making it a good place to grab a pint with a sizable group.

Beers are good. Safe but good. Food was good to except for the street corn. Clearly the corn was frozen ( can t expect fresh corn in May). Problem was it was still cold when I got it. Server didn t really get it and charged me anyway. I tipped what I thought was then appropriate. (I would have tipped as if charged if it was deleted. Oh well)

Cool spot with a nice atmosphere. Lots of seating to eat outside of the bar area if you're looking to relax. Food is good and service has been great. Lots of their craft beer options. Naughty Nurse is a popular and tasty beer you can't go wrong with.

Very poor service. The waiter would take a long time to come around for a large rable; and got the orders wrong. Drinks were okay but over priced. Didn't order food since we were there for drinks and a band, which was off tune and really bad. Overall not a good experience.

Best, fresh burgers in the valley. Quick, friendly service. Someone is always cleaning and it definitely shows. Right off the freeway.

I have had the same friendly experience and GREAT food and Handcrafted Brews all 4 times that I have dined at the City Steam. They will gladly let you taste each of the brews on tap till you find your own personal favorite, and you will. They have an excellent taste and the variety.
Don't drink and drive! I suggest you try the local Uber drivers. Also always worth it.

Had a great time the band that was playing was awesome. playingAcoustic marshpit. Gotta go when they r . Would have been boring if they weren t there. Nice place very spacious with nooks all over. Multiple floors. And a historic place. On the national register of historic landmarks.

Great atmosphere and a very interesting space and architecture. It took a while to get greeted, but service was decent after that. The french onion soup was delicious. Definitely suggest trying a Naughty Nurse beer, which is made there.

Slightly funky pub ambiance definitely adds to the downtown Hartford options. The mac and cheese was delicious, the vegetarian wrap less inspired. Very friendly service.

The worst restaurant with the worst service. We waited 20 minutes after being seated before seeing our waiter. We then waited another 20 minutes for the beers we ordered. We then waited another 30 minutes for the appetizer we ordered at the same time as the beers. 25 minutes later our meals arrived which were both cold. The waiter never came back around to check on our food or to ask if we wanted refills on our drinks. Couldn t pay the bill and leave fast enough.

I came here not too long ago after a friend talked this place up to being the best ever. The bison burger was ok
The beer was not good at all. It has a slight infected taste. I dont know if its the water they use or maybe the brew extract.
I was upset with the beer and the fact that no one cleaned up. It was the summer and there was food sitting around and flies all over the place.
If you want to have a good beer there are many other places to try

Excellent beers brewed here, many more than you'll find in the package stores.

Best menu items are the street tacos and the burgers, although be aware that if you're in a hurry, consider sticking with the street tacos (or the wraps and salads).

Bison burger was good. Beer refreshing after a long day of work. Good place to unwind and watch San Francisco throw a no hitter

City Steam is a definite must for beer and pub style food when visiting downtown Hartford. It is also an excellent stop prior to attending an event at the Hartford Civic Center (XL Center), especially a CT Whale hockey game. The beer is everything you would expect from a craft brewer. Unique flavors and many styles to choose from. The ambiance is also spectacular, being set in an open floor style complete with woodwork and tin ceilings in the turn of the century, Brown, Thompson & Co. building. They have seating that is in the open, as well as quieter areas in the upper levels. The bar is a great place to grab a drink and an appetizer. The food is pub style for the most part, sandwiches, salads, etc. though they do offer dinner entrees and specials. There is a comedy club in the basement, which I have not attended. Check this place out ASAP if you haven't.

4 stars soley for there local beer on sight. They have a daily "express lunch" that is only $7 which includes a rotating sandwich, chips and cup of soap..this is all guaranteed to be in your mouth in 10 minutes once put in.

Also if your a beer person check out the mug club. To many bonuses to list but its $55 a year with larger mug thats yours (stays on sight) you pay regualr pint price and 20% of all food.

Great Beer and a great atmosphere. Their trivia night on Thursdays is always a fun. It especially good because they have a "Pint Night" on Thursdays which means your first beer is $5 with every beer after that being $3 AND you get a City Steam pint glass to take home. The only downside being if it gets busy you may have to wait a little longer than you want to for service.

Food was horrible. Burger was undercooked, sweet potatoes fries were Luke warm and some were cold. They have only obscure hipster salads. Would not try again. Parking is $2 per half hour if you choose a garage.

We might have been in on an off day, but when the place isn't even full at 4:30 PM and the kitchen staff are yelling at (2) hostesses to get their game together, something isn't right. Neither hostess greeted or acknowledged we wanted to eat there, and made it seem like we were bothering them while they tried to figure out which tables were seated, which tables had left, who's working, etc. Again, the place was quiet. On the plus side, food and craft beers are usually pretty good here.

Walked out because the bartender ignored us while sitting at the bar waiting for service, just walked past without so much as a hello...must have something much more important to attend to than customers wanting to eat.

City Steam has been the home to many of my favorite moments over the last few years. Great beer, great service, pretty-darn-good food and an excellent atmosphere. Something for everyone: pool tables, darts, private rooms, booth, stools, couches, low tables, regular tables, high tables, round tables and square tables. And the comedy club downstairs? AMAZING! Stand-up comedy Thursday-Saturday nights and improv comedy by Sea Tea Improv once a month on Sunday nights! I love City Steam!

This place always delivers. They have excellent dishes for reasonable rates, there no long wait even when they are busy.

This place is really cool. Great and unique food and drinks. They also have some bar games at the back area to chill/ hang out. Also staff is very friendly and attentive.

Good except they refused to accommodate our party of 9 so we just sat at two tables next to each other without asking.

Gabby was our sever, and was wonderful, we just ordered a bunch if appetizers and split them. Great if you like fried food! I was able to order some steamed veggie dumplings foea little healthier alternative and some chips and guac.
Desserts were out of this world! They were delicious and huuuuge!
We loved the place we were able to visit with each other and play pool!

Great social environment for after work. You can also almost get a secluded table if you want based on the unique setup. Lots of nooks. It is rather noisy though. Decent beer selection and good food.

Went to see a comedy show and were very entertained. Beer and bar food were good. Had live music in the bar afterward, great atmosphere and a fun place for a night out with friends.

Was here for a friend's birthday. The burgers were awesome. We tasted flights of 10 beers. Everything was great except the ginger snap, which no one really cared for. My particular favourites were careless love and Norwegian wood.

No lettuce, tomato on a burger? Ordered side of fries and got salad. Got my fries and they were hard as rocks. They are to lazy to update the beer menu with the current beer. Waitress didn't have a clue what hops were in the IPA she was serving (wasn't on the menu). Not the best experience.

Went here for brunch on a Sunday morning. I had been for brunch in the past and had a great breakfast. This time, the place was quiet and despite the lack of customers, service was pretty slow. The food wasn't bad-not the best either, I had huevos rancheros and the portion was surprisingly small compared to the meals my friends opted for. The blueberry pancakes had hardly any blueberries in them. Just lackluster all around. Their menu has been scaled down significantly since my last visit which was disappointing. The food offerings are quite basic, though they do have boozy coffees and drink specials which are tasty. The restaurant was chilly and we all ate with jackets on. We'll stick to burgers and beer from now on.

Coming from a craft brew state like Michigan, it was a pleasant surprise to find a place with lots of great original beers and local flare. It SHOULD take a few trips here before you try all the beer they have to offer. I cannot comment on the food but service was fast and friendly.

Nothing to write home about as far as the food goes but the beer and atmosphere are great. Sit in one of the upper levels to take full advantage. Bar is a good happy hour spot after work.

First of all our waiter looked like he was on some drugs. Second I waited for my coffee and straws about 15 min... I ordered an omellett with sausages and the grease was all over my food, very runny. Over all the food was ok. I also had a mimosas which where very small and tastes more like orange juice.

Don t bother going during UConn game. Waited 45 minutes for one beer

Ordered through Uber Eats worst experience of my life! Mozzarella sticks were huge globs of bread crumbs, cheese and lots of grease, chicken Philly was put onto stale bread, quesadilla was a kids portion, extremely disappointed. Overall dissatisfied will never order from here again.

We're from out of town and we're looking for a good local place to eat and drink. We definitely struck gold. The food is to die for! Best burger I've had in a long time. I had home style chips, and my husband had fries. I still can't decide which were better. The beer is incredible and the service was even better. I highly recommend this place!

One of my favorite Hartford spots, and favorite restaurant in general! Between the fantastic menu, spectacular beer and basement comedy club, there's not much that City Steam doesn't do right.
