Hotel is basically clean but the rooms are very basic. It feels a bit like being at the hostel. Rooms are pretty empty. No. Iron and no minibar. Staff is friendly, but unfortunately the main part of the hotel bar is smoking area, that does not work. Non-smokers must sit outside the bar area in a space which is accordingly uncomfortable.

An honest and very good kitchen and a fantastic wine list. Service very friendly ... A very good address in Zug.

Ok hotel in the old part of Zug and by the lake. It has old world charm which is why I picked it. Single room is very basic with limited toiletries. Room was stuffy without window being opened all night but above the restaurant with outdoor seating so bring earplugs. Also it covers the church bells which ring every hour. Breakfast was small with limited selection but the fresh breads were amazing.

A very normal hotel with a too good location. You do not have to do much here, the guests come either way.

My first stay was in 1962 and since then I have been fortunate enough to have stayed over 100 times. Always a delight with a great staff, great location,great breakfast and great memories of Zug, hiking The Zugerberg, the lake and proximity to the best of Switzerland.Staying here is a must as a holiday or even if you have business in Zurich or Luzern.

The staff at reception were all very nice & helpful. However, my room was awfully below the standards I expected from a so called 4 star hotel, at a rate of 220 CHF/night!! Uncomfortable bed, unpractical layout of the room, black & red marks on the walls, no view, & to top it off an awful loud noise from the air con, which made sleep impossible!!! When I reported the affair, no offer of any kind of compensation..nor an email of excuse!! Welcome to Switzerland 4 star indeed!! I am quite furious.....

Wonderful location overlooking Lake Zug (depending on the room). The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. Food excellent :)

While we arrived without a reservation, we were made to feel welcome at reception. We received 2 beautiful rooms (parents + teenager). The hotel is ideally located in the city center but despite everything calm, no noise at night. We are 2 steps from the lake in an old building renovated with great taste. The boss Mr. Hegglin speaks very good French (also the staff) and the atmosphere is family, friendly and warm. We ate at the restaurant in a beautiful room with a menu level "gastro" where the superb presentation of the plates was at the level of the excellence of the dishes served (veal fillet with morels). The cheese platter is worth the detour, cheeses chosen by the boss from producers, in Switzerland and abroad. There is an impressive wine cellar with very fair prices. The breakfast buffet is very complete and all the staff are very attentive. Really an address to recommend without reservation and where we will gladly return.

Au Premier is simply the finest dining experience you can have in Zug.

As a hotel it would be ok, but the soft factors leave a lot to be desired. One could increase the basic attitude towards service readiness from personal experience and descriptions from guests.

Well located hotel with large, nicely furnished and clean rooms. Pleasant atmosphere. Friendly, courteous, helpful and competent staff, be it at the reception or in the breakfast room. Good breakfast buffet with high quality goods. It was fun. Would stay in Zug again

Historical renovated amazing hotel in the middle of Zug old town. Waking distance to Zugersee. Regardless of the current regulations service was outstanding. They will offer half pension over eastern and I think we want to have also that experience.

Also the own restaurant is of perfect quality, if you do not like to go out.

We wanted to test the projector and the sound / volume before the event. The staff was very helpful. At the event itself, everything was perfectly prepared and you could concentrate fully on the event. There were absolutely no problems. Many thanks for the great team at the ox!

Great hotel. Stellar staff and amazing location in old town. Old-world charm combined with modern updates. The staff provides superior service, all around; Emmanuel's friendly professionalism made our stay especially enjoyable. Cannot wait to stay again and will recommend to friends and colleagues.

Very delicious food and a perfect service! Absolutely recommendable!

This hotel is located in the very center of city Zug facing the town hall and at a step from the lake. The location is comfortable but just a little old fashioned.
The room was well sized and comfortable. It had a very complete set of soaps, cream and all the rest. A large bottle of water was offered by the hotel.
The inside restaurant was nice and the staff was kind and available. Price for the food was quite high for an average European restaurant. I paid 80 approx for a soup and a piece of lamb. No wine nor beer because of the limited budget I had. Ingredients were for sure of highest quality but the overall taste not in line with my expectations.
Price for one night was around 190 .
Breakfast was nice, English breakfast but not complete. No beans nor mushrooms, just bacon and eggs. Additional sweet part, a mention for the croissant, very buttery.
Overall score for me is 3*. Not bad, not excellent, average.

Something loud at night. The church clock strikes every hour and is right in front of the hotel. Heating knocked. Amenities were clean, functional, basic, okay.

Worth visiting it because of the location, food and kindness of the staff. The hotel itself is in more etno than modern style and because of this, for me, it is more expensive than it is commodious.

Comfortable place, good breakfast, right there is a restaurant. The rooms are clean but in places already too old

High standard of service and food. The cook made a free of charge starter, which was a pleasent added touch.

The rooms are big and tidy. You can smell the old wood a bit but that may be so, this makes the charm.

Traditional and luxurious. A little 'expensive drinks in the restaurant.
