Went to see rapid fire improve and it was amazing! Very friendly staff!
Saw the Christmas Carol at the citadel in it's 18th season. Fantastic as usual. Loved it.
A good place to attend conferences and social events.
The theater is absolutely great. The play you go to is judgement call. But this is an Edmonton gem and should be experienced.
I have seen 2 shows there recently in two different theatres and they were both great quality. Awesome acting, comfy seats, great sets and costumes. My experience at the box office is always perfect and my daughter has registered in summer camps and theatre classes and enjoyed these very much. I love going to the citadel for a quiet walk and lunch or tea in their gardens in the winter. A little oasis.
Canceling (or refusing to book) a speaker because of his views shows that the Citadel is not committed to freedom of speech or a diversity of viewpoints.
The plays are touching and the theater is amazing. Went to see A Christmas Carol yesterday. So touching
Love the Citadel, live theater, great actors, great plays.
Watched a theatre presentation for my friend's theatre school program. Nice place. Staff were helpful too :)
Always a great place to go and catch a show. Tonight's Valentine's entertainment was a great improv show by Rapid fire theater.
Just finished, "As you like it" the Beatles/Shakespeare mashup and it was awesome! The music was quite cleverly timed with the story and the performers were always entertaining! Great venue, comfortable seats.
Not impressed with the theatre cancelling a book launch by Dr Jordan Peterson. Can't expect much from the arts in Edmonton if this is how they operate. Explanation was nonsense.
Best show i have seen at the Citadel. A CHRISTMAS CAROL
I was treated to a spring of 'A Christmas Carol' and MY GOD, the auditorium itself was very comfortable. The production and performances were so outstanding that I was actually moved to tears. The concession stand outside the auditorium sold alcohol, which was was a pleasant surprise as well. I look forward to going back for another play in the near future.
I got the pleasure to see Scrooge the play in December, absolutely amazing play. I will be sure to take my family again next year.
Old and run down with unfriendly staff in a hard to get to location.
The building is run down and in major need of renovation. Anytime it rains water pours in from the ceiling. Has a waterfall that is never turned on and now have to put canopies above the walkway because of the leaking roof
The citadel performances are always a spectacle. Definitely worth going to see a show here. I had gone to see "The Color Purple" which was a musical performed in the Shoctor Theatre. The cast and performance blew me away.
I've only been in the Shoctor Theatre but it is very nice and seating is great. The sets have always been very good when I've gone. The bar sells drinks in sippy cups as not to spill!
I love seeing a show at The Citadel. Great atmosphere with excellent performances. Very friendly, helpful staff.
Finally a good play for the family have not gone for a few years. Last play we went they had peter pans nanny as a guy in drag.
The Citadel Theatre puts on some of the best productions you could hope to see. The talent is amazing!
Love this teather, small rooms, perfect view from any seat
This place is great! Personally I always go there for the Northern Alberta improv league or nail to either cheer on my team or perform and I found that it's a very fun and open environment to just chill out. if you have never seen an improv I would definitely recommend checking out the rapid fire theatre.
The Cost of Living is well worth seeing and completely different from what I expected.
Cancelled a talk and backed out of a signed contract, very unprofessional.
Always a lovely visit! The location is beautiful, the theatres are well layed out. The shows are spectacular! A great experience for anyone who loves a good live show :)
Saw a show tonight called "Slight of Mind" by Theatre Yes. It is not just theatre, it is, as my friend put it, "an immersive event". Do yourself a favour and catch it before it closes this weekend. You won't be sorry.
Really enjoyed Momma Mia. The Citadel is a beautiful building. The McClab Theatre has a gorgeous setting with the waterfall. It was a perfect intimate setting for Momma Mia. Highly recommended.
Little bit older building but great theatres and art performances. The atriums and love plants are a great touch and a great place to just relax in a busy downtown
Best place in the city to watch a play and get a little culture.
Great location for concert. Very organized. Will be coming back for other concerts.
The building is great but the people who run this place are ignorant and rude. I was engaged in a private conversation in the lobby and one of their employees decided it was their place to bitt in and tell me how wrong i was and how stupid i was for having such an pinion. EXCuSE ME?! I didnt realize we had to adopt their skewed agenda to be about to attend events here...
I have always loved the Citadel. Great place to go to the theatre.
We went to see Six. This was the first show my wife and I have been too since having kids and it was AMAZING!! Wow!! Extremely enjoyable, job well done to everyone. We were unsure where to park and parked at the Edmonton Public Library parkade and it was extremely simple to walk over underground from their parkade. I think elevators were also available in addition to the stairs
The citadel is so beautiful and easy to find from the street. Very pleased to be apart of the arts in Edmonton.
"We cancelled a rental agreement based on concerns that Dr. Peterson s book launch would cause distress to valued members of our community" - We cater to cry babies
'The theatre countered by saying the contract to secure the venue was never finalized and that Peterson had prematurely announced the speaking engagement.' - Why do you lie about matters that can easily be proven false? A picture of the SIGNED & PAID contract was posted to twitter. Are you trying to say the signature was forged? That would be fraud.
Management dropped the ball hard on the whims of some indignant snowflakes and now your cards show.
Amazing actors I laughed I cried. Perfect performance.
Saw the Silver Arrow, great show made up of some amazing actors, props, and fabulous costumes
I have seen multiple shows here now, including a Christmas Carole (my all time favorite!!!) and multiple improve shows. It's a but pricey, but if you can go, it's highly worth it!!
Had a great time checking out the improv show "theater sports" with my wife. Show was great, we are planning to come back another time for sure!
It's a lovely place to go to theater, with good production value
Absolutely wonderful! Brilliant actors, wonderful stage. I loved every moment!
Enjoyed improvaganza. Seats were comfortable. Crowd was good...not too many people. Performance was good Ra power and mime
Always a great place to go to watch shows or even improv. My personal favourite is when they host NAIL, the kids always have a ton of energy!
Great entertainment, lovely staff, clean facilities
It's a cool place connected to the subway and pedway. It's actually split in two parts, a Green house, and the Theaters - believe there are about 4 theatres in this multi platform building, each one named after some notary person, the only one I can remember is the Rice Theatre. They always mainly showcase local talent and plays, some of which from students from high school/colleges et cetera. I'm not an expert on the Citadel Theater.
The Green house is like a tropical oasis in the middle of the City. Coming up from the subway you are greeted by a HUGE waterfall, at the top of which is an antique sailing ship, a caravel I believe, and an amphitheatre, surrounded by many quiet places to sit in the Flash Gordon type Jungle setting way up on the third floor.
The Citadel Theatre is one of those "synonymous with Edmonton" places, as much as Jasper Ave and Shaw Conference Center are/were (Shaw Conference Center now has the name: The Edmonton Convention Center). For such a landmark you wouldn't believe its privately owned and I heard once the needed assistance with operational costs. Anyway theres no way to tell of financial woes if I didn't overhear what could be a casual conversation.
Great staff, locations, and shows! The new version of The Christmas Carol was very fun! The Citadel definitely helps make Edmonton Edmonton.
How does the Citadel get shows that are destined for Broadway? First Hadestown now Six!
I had never been to this place until last night for a Christmas carol , the lobby is nicely decorated and although it was super busy and packed, you could still get around pretty good
Lovely event space at the Shocter Theater lobby. Ask for Calvin. He has excellent customer service and is a great ambassador for the Citadel. Had a lovely evening mingling in that space.
Love coming to the citadel to watch theatre sports on a Friday night!
Great staff and a great atmosphere. An Edmonton must-try.
Wonderful acoustics. Lovely small venue with a well stocked bar. We weren't in the main theatre but downstairs.
Great seating, great sound, and great parking. Plus a great play.
There is something atmospheric and magical about watching a show live and
watched the funniest improv show at this place. Thank you guys!
Gorgeous place! Love having coffee here when I can't make a show!
Indoor garden and beer in a sippy cup.
FUN!
Fantastic plays and performers, amazing experience overall.
