The Citadel is a magic downtown stop. The courtyard is wonderful to visit any time of day. Great to take a tropical walk in the winter. Benches everywhere. And they always have cool decorations. (Make sure to try and get to the top of the waterfall, there's a boat on the water up there ;))
There are multiple theatres that are all unique to see shows in. The quality of performances are never disappointing. Even the semi professional shows are some of the best I've seen.
They have a great snack and drink bar before shows. And they use reusable cups that you can keep or return (for a cup refund) to be cleaned and reused.
I highly recommend investing in a visit, show, or meal at the restaurant or coffee shop.

A cultural institution in the heart of downtown Edmonton. I have been attending shows here since childhood. The talent, diversity and quality of performances that the Citadel brings to their stage(s) never ceases to impress. If you haven't taken in a performance lately.....do.

I was really happy that my grandmother was able to sit in a real chair beside our row this year. She finds getting into and out of the theatre row chairs difficult and painful so this time it was a much nicer experience for her.

The live performances here are amazing. Every performance I have been to over the years has been enchanting and entertaining. The actors have a way of drawing you into their world. I have also spent a lot of time enjoying the indoor quiet areas among the beautiful tropical plants that they have.

Alice Through the Looking Glass was fantastic! My husband and I took our 2 little nieces to see it and don't know who enjoyed it more, them or us? If you're thinking of going, don't hesitate! It's a wonderful and unusual show. Totally absorbing.

The Rice Theater at the Citadel is a wonderful intimate gem in Edmonton. The shows here vary each season. It's set up like a cafe with candle lit tables, great atmosphere. If you've never been check out the lineup and see a show.

I saw the Christmas Carol last night, the show was GREAT. We bought back row seats (as we bought ticket's last minute), and it warned of a "mild obstruction". The back row seats are on the same level as the seat in front of it, so this "mild obstruction" was not mild at all.. we could not see ANY of the stage. Thank goodness there were some empty seats (still in the back row), but there was 1 empty seat in front of it so we could see some of the stage. One lady that was sitting in this "back row" was sitting on the top of the chair's backing just so that she could see the show. The people beside us left because they couldn't see any of the show. Citadel Theatre, WHY ARE YOU SELLING THESE SEATS TO PEOPLE? I did not spend $95.00 to look at the back of someone's head. Please stop selling these "back row" seats to people warning of a "mild obstruction".. anyone in this row cannot see any of the show, and are probably going to be very disappointed.

I was here for Imorovaganza, and it was fabulous! The show I went to was improvised Dungeons and Dragons, and though I've never been part of any Dungeons & Dragons, it was hilarious and fun! I strongly recommend that if you have a chance to check out improvaganza while it's in town, do it!

Refusing to refer to someone as Ze or Zir, so called "gender neutral pronouns" doesn't make someone a bigot. It's common sense. I used to love coming here, but will no longer be supporting a business that doesn't value free speech. This would have been a smash hit for this venue but it appears they would rather capitulate to a vocal minority of activists on twitter than support our rights to freedom of speech. Dr Peterson can hardly be considered controversial, assuming you actually listen to his reasoning. Truly a disgusting display by this place!

Fantastic building containing Edmonton s premier performing arts theatres. The complex has 5 theatres for live performances also includes a coffee shop and a restaurant. The building also has a large open indoor garden area. It is a great place to visit even if your not going to a performance. That being said the performances being presented are world class with well known actors. The building is clean and well lit.

The best venue for theatre in Edmonton! I love that they are starting to produce more thoughtful and meaningful shows, as well as big Broadway musicals. The staff are all the best, I've never had a bad time with the box office. All the theatre spaces are very comfortable and help put on great pieces of art. I'll never stop coming here!
