Very pleased with my experience at the Citadel for TedXUAlberta. The theatre was very nice and there was lots of legroom. I'll definitely keep my eye of for anything of interest at the theatre in the future.

This is my choice as the best large theatre venue in Edmonton. It boasts large comfortable seats with plenty of leg room as opposed to the tight quarters at the Jubilee Auditorium. The quality of the shows and actors is second to none, every show we have attended has been superior to Broadway across Canada. The shows are also far cheaper than at the Jube. If you have never seen a show at the Citadel you really should.
This is one of the best places for live theater in Edmonton. There are many types of performances offered here, from the familiar to down right odd and disturbing. But all of our experiences in the most part have been enjoyable. However my one complaint is that it seems to in the last few years gotten rather pricy for tickets.
Citadel threw it's own reason for existence into dump for the managements own political view by cancelling Jordan Peterson Book launch event.
Google also suppressing negative reviews for this place by local guides.

Went to see Matilda on a Friday evening in Feb. The production was stellar, and even from my seats in the back I had a great view and missed nothing.
The sound architecture and theatre shape means there are no bad seats here. The staff is friendly, and the waiting room is more than large enough for the amount of theatre guests.
Additionally, this theatre is a not-for-profit!
I'd recommend everyone see the occasional show here, and if you appreciate theatre, pick up a season pass!

Love the shows here. You can tell there is an extremely high production value here and that the actors love what they do. At intermission, you can also get a drink or a snack. Dress up a little bit for a night out!

Seen the play called SWEAT. It was my first time attending, and I know ill be going again. Great actors they had a get together after the play with food and drinks, very impressive.
Such a great venue. Excellent play, Tempest. Sound was amazing, set and stage was perfect. Not a bad seat in the house. Loved it.
Beautiful theatre in every way.... We went to see the play "Tempest" there this past weekend, and the production was (to say the least) difficult to follow?? Unless you read and studied it in school. A great affirmation of the talent and commitment of hearing-challenged performers!

I only recently been coming to the citadel theatre as my partner has season tickets and I have to say I am impressed. Turned me from being uninterested of live theatre to fully enjoying the experience.
The venue is clean and well maintained while having an indoor garden to sit down in while waiting for the show to start.
Overall I love coming here and will continue to do for the foreseeable future. Keep it up citadel theatre.

Citadel theatre does not possess the professional resources to host a speaker while maintaining niether agreement or disagreement with speaker. This is all that was expected.
The management are corrupt and should be fired for what they did to Mr Peterson. Shame on you.

This place won architecture awards for a reason - it is GORGEOUS inside, with the pathways and gardens and soft lighting. Each of the theatres is well maintained and looking great after 40 or so years now. And every production I've seen here is second to none, and worth every penny.
Nice venue with generally comfy seating. Lots of nice plays to see and improv. Fun for all ages and budgets
A treasure of a live theatre venues in the downtown core. There are a couple theatres in the building offering an assortment of plays from musicals(Once) to thought provoking dramas ( Next to Normal) to the long running Edmonton Christmas tradition of Ebenezer Scrooge. Seats are reasonably comfortabls.A small wine bar with Adult Sippy Cups helps keep the drinks from being spilled on you. Staff has always been friendly. Shoctor theatre doesnt have a bad seat in the house. Handicap parking can be difficult to find so arrive early 45 min at least to get a spot.

My grandmother passed away and her funeral was the day before the show in Ontario. The representative waived my transfer fees for having to change the dates. Amazing service.

Watched a Christmas Carol and the performance was fantastic! The Citadel Theatre is located in the heart of downtown Edmonton, next to Winspear centre. Inside the lobby, you will find beautiful trees and greenery which brightens your day, especially during the dark, cold winter months.
I've had season tickets to the Citadel for years and it's always great entertainment. I've been to many shows that I wasn't expecting to be interested in, only to be pleasantly surprised. And one of the most recent shows I attended--Hadestown--was fantastic!
Not a bad seat in the house. Don't be afraid to grab cheap seats to shows you may not be all that excited for.

I've loved the citadel since I was young and I STILL love it. There isn't a bad seat in the house and plays are always a memorable experience. I've been a season pass holder for 5 years (a Christmas Carol is tradition!!) and would never give that up. Bring back Mama Mia!!
It is a pleasant lobby with some seating areas. The acoustics in thr theater are great. I dont like the long rows though. I am grateful I had an isle seat. The view is good. From row J. I do appreciate the pay what you can deal. Be sure to give yourself a long wait time for the box office to open. But once it does the line up is done in about 20 minutes.
Went to see Mamma Mia at the Citadel. Phenomenal talent! Great show! The only thing that would make the Citadel better would be if there was at least one other place to grab a drink and appetizers before a show. Normands Bistro is good, but often full on nights when there is more than one thing going on.
