Gr8t museum around cinema, with an impressive collection of camera and projectors. Front desk guy is not very interested into customers...but don't let that hold you back.

A must for cinema lovers, great classics and so many and varied iniciatives. Wonderful snack bar to spend time waiting for the next session

Beautiful old building, restaured with love for the art. Wonderful environment, love for the moving pictures. The films are shown in original with subtitles, which for movie lovers is a delight. Subtitles where in English ( for non-english spoken films) and Portuguese.

The best place to find old movies and enjoy them with a good atmosphere and an affordable price for everyone. I think it is a place that deserves to be preserved and has so many options in almost all languages with Portuguese subtitles and some in English.

If you love cinema you need to go and see this place. They schedule old film-noir movies all day long and a ticket is just 3,20. The whole entourage of Cinematheque is so oldschool and that makes the whole going to the movies experience just right.



I consider this place really a hidden gem in Lisboa, I would most definitely visite it again.

Amazing place to involve themselves into the cinema world throughout the decades from the very beginning! The Cinemateca offers a large variety of movies from classics to the independent festival and special guest such as directors, journalists, actors and other professionals. All movies in original language with portugues subtitles!! A cosy bar with a courtyard where drinking or attending a concert is a pure pleasure. Some rooms are dedicated to the instruments used to "make" cinema. Unaxpected treasure also for not kino-lovers. Price more than affordable

The space is cozy with a bookstore and a coffee upstairs. It's free so you can still give it a try, but the museum is so tiny. I was expected to learn a bit about Portuguese cinema. Instead I got a small exhibition about German movies. I didn't really see the point of the museum. Nice place but a bit meaningless.

Great cinematheque. It has a very inviting cafe / restaurant upstairs and a beautiful bookstore with titles from the world of cinema. I watched two films in a wide and very comfortable armchair room. I recommend.

Unbelievable place! It's an old cinema in the city centre where you can feel being 60 years back and watch the old movies. Incredible experience!

They show some world classics in original language, not only Portuguese, but also French, Italian, Spanish, and of course American.

Really stunning decoration with old video cameras, old cinema chairs, and posters on the wall. Even if you don't want to see a movie, just drop by for a coffee or a cocktail in the rofttop restaurant

Wonderfull place to visit, watch a movie, grab a bite, drink a tea or coffee, buy a book or movie(dvd), see a museum, has excellent vintage movie schedules, a don't miss place.

It's unfortunate that Cinematheque has subtitled Spanish in Monty Python. The subtitles in Portuguese, tiny by comparison, were so shifted below the image that you had to choose between reading and watching the movie.

Right next to the corner store (don't feed the plants), this is the ideal place to prepare for our grand plan and we may even find the droids we were looking for there.

The friendliness of the service in the restaurant leaves a little to be desired. Although the food is delicious.

This place is heaven! There are old European and American movies playing everyday and you can get a list of them at the front desk. The museum isn t very large, you might want to check it out while waiting for the movies. Make sure you pay a visit the bookstore! Plenty of vintage magazines in Portuguese. So precious.

Very particular environment with wide geometries and finely finished, you can find numerous cameras and cinematographic instruments perfectly maintained, there are also internal rooms where you can take a break and have an aperitif or eat if you are hungry, a visit even if fast deserves it

Great place if you're into cinema. Check online for monthly schedule. In the summer it's also possible to catch movies on the rooftop.

If you are a nerd about European and world cinema. This is a must. Located in a beautiful townhouse it has lots of historic artefacts and an absolutely lovely library cum bookshop with memorabilia. They have two screens showing classic and world cinema. They have special screens with English subtitles from July to September. I came away with additional knowledge about classic Portuguese movie directors and armed with a collection of great films. Thank you. I'm coming back! Only for those with a passion for genius!

The museum part of the cinematheque was a lot smaller than we had expected. Entrance is free, but it was still a bit disappointing. There is a nice courtyard which i assume is used for viewing movies. The best part of it all was the small shop with interesting books about cinematography. We didn t get to see any movies as the Cinema was closed.

Went for the "cinema museum", and was quite disappointed. The museum is actually just the first floor of the cinema with a few old cameras, projectors and cinema-chairs. I thought that it would be an actual museum telling the Portuguese film history. And, if your not speaking Portuguese, all you can do is look at the items but not knowing anything about them. As I'm not from Portugal I didn't went to the cinema as I guess I would not be able to understand the movies themselves.

In addition to attending regularly, I am also a partner who is a friend of the institution. And I became a partner precisely because the space is extremely pleasant, with diverse programs within the world cinema scene. very well maintained and managed environment and in addition to having very polite and attentive people working in favor of space.

The session was quiet today. The audience was silent. I liked the movie Journey to the End of the World.

The place is very cozy and with nice movie theaters with varied programming found on the website. It is also worth mentioning that there are interesting chats on the topic of culture in general. The cafeteria is very charming with affordable prices and a healthy food menu. It has cold draft beer, pies and snacks. TIP: if you want to impress the person who beats your heart, invite them to a program in this environment. Cinema + chat + coffee = success for sure!

Small space is nice, I expected to see more exhibition of old articles related to the cinema, the Museum restaurant is very good, I advise
