Time to enjoy art at Christchurch. Art full of history. Take your time to enjoy the art. We are allow snap photo inside the art gallery only for personal purpose and not for commercial purposes.

This art gallery is truely amazing and everyone should experience it, as there been alot of time and constructive thinking that went into its design.

Some nice spaces with interesting and engaging exhibitions throughout. A must visit.

Very well set out with child friendly areas - however it takes alot of time to view the entire collection and appreciate it all.

What a cool place. The art was really nice but the building itself was the true art form!

The building was more impressive than the contents.

Various art pieces to look at. Beautifully built and structured gallery. Friendly staff on hand curating. Toilets very clean. Overall place very clean. Interesting art through out from various styles.

The gallery was great !! The first time I saw the exhibition with light and shadow was really great!

Great place to bring kids. Have a very cool play area and super kid friendly throughout.

To be fair, a place like this would rise and fall on its exhibition. But the space is good, and the exhibitions I saw were engaging. Even in the elevator. You could spend hours here.

Great place to visit. Art works are always pleasing. The staff how ever left our young family with a young boy feeling uncomfortable and somewhat unwelcome.

Our visit came at the expense of forgoing Akaroa which turned out to be a blessing because of the weather. The staff on site are very helpful and the exhibits on display were really interesting. The pick for everyone was Louise Henderson and her range of works through different styles. At the end of your visit, do have a look in the gift shop as there are some great ideas for presents either for yourself or close friends.

One of the newest attractions in town. Totally worth going and check their exhibitions. The building its awesome and the decoration around its quite interesting

Great collections and always something different displayed. The tour is well worth doing so you catch up on what's changed.

Very interesting installations. Well worth a visit to contemplate life in the 21st century.

Worthwhile to visit and spend as much time as possible ...

This museum has a certain charm in that it blends both old and new in a modern building. You can take lifts/elevators if you wish or use the grand staircase with its suspended from the ceiling above, sculpture.

There are some computer displays of information about portraits, there are 20th century British paintings, 19 century French art, modern New Zealand art a nice interesting mix.

Some large sculptures are outside in front of the museum.

Very nice place to visit infact when you need quite moment with you only.

Must do in Christchurch. The classics to modern art with special exhibitions. Great talks and community events. Architecture stunning. Also great to take photos outside with clouds and sunsets.

A fabulous guided tour of the traveling exhibitions. Thrilled to come away with a freebie poster of one of Max Gimblett's iconic works - plus a not so free t-shirt of same. Louise Henderson exhibition is a knock your socks off one

This is an absolute gem. Some superb and significant NZ work, with a touch of European. The building is magnificent in terms of space and gives the art room to breathe. Some interesting ideas expressed. Would suggest taking the guided tour (free but check for times) to give you an insight and overview. Do not leave Christchurch without visiting.

Loving it. Many thing to see. Especially New Zealand Art. We went to see the photography exhibition "Hidden light".

Not really my kind of art but the galleries are very impressive and so is the building. Lots of abstract and historical collections. I guess its good to go if you have a background in art but you may have a better time a local galleries.

I came for the art. A very satisfying experience and one which I would be keen to repeat once the guilt wears off.

Interesting building design. Good exhibitions. Helpful staff, you can leave your jacket/bag at reception and collect it later.

Sublime NZ artworks. A well curated selection that informs and amazes visitors. Free (but please donate!). Must visit attraction.

Decent gallery and interesting play nooks for young children

After reading other reviews I must've visited on the wrong day. I have never seen such an array of complete garbage in one place. The building however is nice and totally wasted housing such stupidity. I feel sorry for the poor rate payers footing the bill for it.

Marvelous buiilding, diverse artwork with some maori representation and some modern installations. The museum shop is delightful with interesting things to pick up as gifts or meaningful souveniers....some fun and some serious. All in all, an enjoyable way to pass a rainy afternoon.

I liked the variety of paintings. The old masters paintings with the inter -active digital "learn more" was a novel way of finding out more about the painting /artist.

I liked the free guided tour, definitely worth going.

Big enough, I thought there would be alot more as in art exhibitions considering how big it is. Always the same exhibits gets stale if u go more than twice. Good for tourists & older folk.

Lovely gallery and I personally love the classical oil paintings so it was nice to see a good selection of the 17th century Dutch portraits and landscapes in oil, also Te Wheke exhibition was very nice

Massive building with some World Class pieces of art. Do see areas 6 and 7. Leave your bag, tripod and belongings with staff at the check in desk. GD.
