Amazing place to go and have fun with all the entire family!
It was really cool to be out there but you do feel out of place. But it was a great experience to have. BRING SUNGLASSES! Its hella bright out there.
The staff is pleasant drive was curvy. Snow varys on time of year. Reccomend this place for a quick day but if your planning a snow trip hit mammoth. This tiny hill is for locals and beginners.
Cleat air, all around is green free, snow falling all over and wonderful people and best is that today Dec., the 7th my training day and tomorrow's first day working at China Peak Resort... About that !!!!
Monday the 11th.
Most EPIC ski day. Probably in my top 5 days of skiing in my 30 years of skiing. Powder on and off the runs was amazing. The snow stayed perfect all day. Top to bottom, tips forward. Very Fast!!!!!
Completely Awesome!!!!!,!
Oh, and there was probably only 100 people on the mountain. Absolutely Amazing.
It's an okay ski resort as ski resorts go. It's a fun local activity even if you don't like, to ski or snowboard it's a beautiful mountain to visit. The lodge is gorgeous though! If you can try to stay at the lodge, they have great amenities and discounts for slopes.
Very nice place to perfect your skiing skills with an amazing training staff- James. I would only suggest to put more water stations and extra signs. Overall, it's a great place.
It s not Mammoth or Tahoe but for being the western Sierras & close to Fresno, it s hard to beat!
There was live music which we were happy to see BUT the music was so loud no one could talk and the server wore her mask on her chin not covering her mouth at all, the whole time. She had to get up close to take your order to hear you but with no mask over her mouth. She also did not use a mask when carrying everyone's food, so we cancelled our order and left.
So cool almost broke my leg but i will do it again in a heart beat. Be careful and have fun
Great smaller resort with lower priced lift tickets and other fees.
It is an inexpensive ski resort decent for beginners. it can be good to not so good for the runs.
Looked nice but when I went everything was shut down since winter was over.
On this day 2/15/2020. I visited china peak. Signed for kids ski lesson . Its started good but the teacher told us to go so that can pay up more attention. So we left and the kids continued with thier lesson. About 10 minutes later my wife came to check up on the kids and found my son playing with the snow alone . The teacher had left him and taken the other kids somewhere else. We followed them there and i took charge of teaching my kids. I observed how he was with the kids but one thing that was clear is that they had no awareness of how many kids they have or where they are.
I will not recommend this place to a parent. Plus i saw some other saftey concern .
China peak does a good Job. slopes where looking good, friendly staff except for the fact that I was threatened to have another staff member confront me, because I pulled into the parking lot with music on (no profanity) what so ever I never felt so disgusted with the customer service I had received arriving to China peak, to the old man in the parking lot just wow I would never treat someone nor tell someone to turn there music off pulling into a parking lot, especially at a ski resort. I ve worked at ski resorts and am amazed on what this man was trying to finesse me with the biggest load of bull I ve ever heard in my life.
Ticket is cheap but trail map is meh. Have to take either black or flat green back to lift.
Food menu in the restaurant is 20$-30$ plate and tasted like frozen re-heated. I had pork braised lasagna it was very dry and not much flavor. My husband had the meatloaf he said it tasted like boxed meatloaf. The kids mac and cheese was to gourmet for a 6 year old it had bacon and bell peppers and 3 rich cheese flavors, just a bit fancy for a kid mac and cheese. He ended up eating my plain lasagna and I ate his mac. The actual snow area is fun for the littles but all but 2 lifts were closed due to wind. Tom in the pro shop is a grumpy jerk. Russell in the lodge is awesome and the staff at kids camp ( Gillian, ian) are way good with the kid. Cocktails are pricey but Sully at Sully's bar is very hospitable. Over all we will return but recomend bring your own food.
We ate dinner at the Inn at China Peak. The food was sub par and the menu is very limited. This is not what we expected and might explain why we were the only ones in the restaurant in mid July on a Friday night.
Best snow and open runs you can find in March. Really enjoyed seeing the Estonian ski club skiing in formal we. Dam they ski well.
The people were very nice and helpful the hills are fairly long and I would love to go back the trails that they had there were for everyone from a person that is just starting to a fairly good rider
Summer activities include Ski Lift ride to the top of China Peak.
ok, so the lift operators are salty ,I dig that, it's obvious they care though.
They have great food and lead directly to the indian pools trail which is a fantastic hike.
Always great! Love that there is minimal yellow snow.
I spent the weekend at China Peak with my wife, sister-in-law and father at the beginning of a week-long motorcycle trip through the Sierras. It was a great way to launch our trip. The entire staff was really accommodating and friendly. The bartender, Karen, managed a full house of moto nuts without losing her cool or getting overwhelmed. Pretty impressive actually.
The food and drinks were a great way to close out a long day of riding. Good seating outside to take in the view and they whipped up a fire at night so the crowd could hang out under the stars. The rooms themselves were stark, but had what we needed to be comfortable. We were lucky enough to have a private bath so that topped off the stay. And the bed was pretty comfortable. We would have stay longer but the resort wasn't officially open after the weekend. Can't wait to go back!
Relatively remote ski resort with great snow, great views, so-so amenities, and virtually no after-ski fun spots.
Best resort for the price! Very family friendly. We're loyal customers!
Love the people. Good runs when there is enough snow
Food is really bad! price are too high, pack your lunch.
Such a fun place to ski and people are friendly ! Food court is under staffed and unorganized with a long line but I just count it as part of the experience and laugh about it . Enjoy the food court show :)
This place is awesome! Good price and when the snow is right, the skiing is tight. I went in to the demo shop to try on ski boots and they let me actually test them on the mountain for free! Love the slopes. Love the service. The best part is the short lines and the ease of access.
Great local place to go skiing! Sadly, we've had a string of minimal snowy winters. They do their best to make it work by making snow.
So they charge $95 for a midweek lift ticket, when they have half of the lifts running and most of the mountain ungroomed (and not because of recent snow). Unfortunately this is the only resort in the area but have been disappointed by their skyrocketing prices and poor management.
Perfect season, lovely place to learn how to ski or snowboard. After the lesson, the staff will inform you that for whatever questions you need to ask , they can always answer even if your done the package.
Went there with some friends to cash in a ticket from the 3 pack of tickets we had purchased online. We were some of the first there and got our passes as soon as they opened. They then, however, closed all chairs except for one that is located partially up the mountain for the day. The only way to get there was to wait in line to be towed by a snow mobile or hike half a mile uphill. Refused to give us any sort of refund or voucher to come back another day. Luckily we were able to warn a few people in line before they purchased their tickets. Can't recommend, 1/5.
Edit: going to 2/5 stars because their employees were definitely going pedal to the metal with the snowmobile tow rope situation
Beautiful place, wonderful service. Fair prices, great place to get away for a weekend and snowboard!
Really fun with friends, horrible lessons so try to have some experience.
Wonderful experience snowboarding!
Spent the day going up and down the Academy run. Enjoyed a few beers at the bar too!
Such a beautiful mountain. From the top of chair one is an awesome view of Huntington Lake! Had some of the deepest and fluffiest powder that I've ever rode in my life!
Ski patrol is rude ,they will take your season pass away for anything .I was going just as fast as a young inexperienced ski patrol by the name of Mikayla on an expert level run and she wanted to revoke my season pass, that I just bought ,for supposedly going to fast. I had no idea this was even a rule and she was going even faster than me. Also by far the cheapest ski resort in America ,they falsely claim to make snow but literally make none. I wouldn t go here!
Great! Though plan on bringing food, $20 for chicken nuggets is harsh
No snow all winter, then 6+ feet in one week! Classic older ski resort, good times!
Great place to ride or ski. Just wish mother nature would bless us with more snow so I can ride more.
Very friendly staff and amazing outdoor area. Rooms were on the older side and could use some ceilings fans or AC.
Great ski resort. I wish there was a little more seating for non-skiers.
China Peak is an awesome ski resort. They aren't quite 5 stars, though, because they lack a high quality inn, a lodge with enough room, or up to date equipment. Although this sounds detrimental, China Peak makes up for it with an awesome vibe and friendly staff. They know they aren't the best resort in the world, and they own it; they don't act like they're something they aren't. There runs are diverse and there are some really great spots. The park is pretty decent, though seriously lacking some years. All in all it is the perfect local ski resort.
Great mountain ski resourt near Fresno. It's a wonderful resort. Went up on Saturday for a half day, the parking lot was full, and was able to get over 10 runs in before the resort closed. Would recommend going up as much and as often as possible during the winter season. Lucked out this year with lots of powder and snow. Looking forward to going again before the season ends.
Amazing. Small ski resort with great prices and close to home. Love coming here
We saved money on our room and packed a few people in enjoying a bargain price for a room that slept 6 people with its own bath and another bath down the hall. You'll need to pack your food in a picnic cooler or eat at the restaurant downstairs which provides good fair and great drinks but not at bargain prices. Enjoy China Peak!
Skiing and snowboarding was super fun. Staff was courteous and professional. Great value. The burgers at the top were tasty. New edit:. This past weekend or son took a fall at the snowboard park and hurt his lip a bit. The ski patrol people were wonderful in every way. My son was quickly surrounded with the best care and love. They took him down the mountain on the sled, and helped him at the infirmary. These guys (and Marci) were the best. Super friendly and professional in every way. I also noticed that the rest of the staff is very curious and service oriented. This place has earned our family as life customers. Thank you all.
Every time we have stayed at the Inn at China peak, our room has reeked of cigarette smoke and had a generally stale odor. As nonsmokers we find the atmosphere putrid and unforgivable. When we have asked for nonsmoking rooms we have been met with dismay. It is as if this establishment has been frozen in time as in a "Twilight Zone" sequence where everyone is still smoking. How smoking and enjoying the clean air of the Sierras is compatible remains beyond our understanding.
Lifts could use updating. Okay prices for the price. Courteous and friendly staff. Will certainly come back again.
Great Place to get away. Nice staff and beautiful scenery. Would recommend to anyone.
Snow was great, thanks to Mother Nature. Staff was great, thanks for hiring friendly folks. Other skiers were great--helped us get our SUV out of the ice. Thanks so much! Ski like you mean it.
On the mountain: It's an awesome ski resort. I went presidents day weekend and it still wasnt very busy even with tons of fresh powder. Most of the food at the restaurants was good. Although overpriced, it was actually pretty cheap for a ski resort. My only complaint is that the chairs are all pretty slow, especially the summit chair. A lot of the mountain is kinda flat too, so here's that warning for snowboarders.
On the lodge: The first room we were in smelled incredibly nasty and the floor was wet. Luckily, we were moved into a much better room. Throughout our stay there the men's bathrooms were sticky and gross, and also lacked in privacy near the showers.
Despite all this, I would stay here again due to the proximity of it to the resort and the kindness of the majority of the staff.
Overall experience has been wonderful. Staff interactions have all been pleasant and even with how busy they have been since I arrived their staff has done an awesome job keeping their facilities reasonably clean and stocked. Only issue I personally had was the upstairs bathroom for the economy stay. Shower heads only produce a mist so water pressure wasn't the greatest however the down stairs showers were just fine.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone interested in a 3 day get away or even just a day trip.
Lots of for everyone and the employees were hella koo too..
I went on Sunday the 4th, the parking lot was at capacity and I had to park on the highway, the day was amazing and the staff was phenomenal even though there was not enough of them there because the resort had been closed for a month or so due to no snow
Amazing! Snow! Fun! Clean and warm rental cabin! But nobody made even a small walkway /path. I had to dig in the snow or sleep in the parking. I have a health condition and I shouldnt lift heavy things. To be able to get from the parking to the cabin I had to shovel snow and throw it over - one and half my hight. We called but nobody came to help with the snow. Bring shovels with you, too
Friendly staff, great snow, great fun!! Even this early in the season there was still decent coverage.
China Peak is a little gem. It's not the most high-tech ski resort but it makes up for it with a good vibe/nice workers/sunny days. They have been struggling in the last few years with bad snow fall so we need to support them as much as possible!
