The room itself was okay, but the door lock rattled and you could always open the door a crack - even when it was closed.
The walls were thin and you could hear everything and everyone around you.
In the bathroom (see pictures) the paint was crumbling and there was mold! The worst thing was that you couldn't regulate the water temperature, because as soon as you opened the hot water tap a little, the water became scalding hot! At the end we let the water in the washbasin run hot and turned on completely so that it was more bearable in the shower.

We had many problems with the hotel which were ultimately okay, but only because of the new receptionist, Sara, as she solved everything proffesionally with a smile. She's the receptionist you would want at every hotel!

Small and moldy (bathroom).

Small and moldy (bathroom).
But besides that a OK place to spend one night on business in London. The rooms are really small but clean. The bathrooms are so tiny you cannot move in there. And the water keeps going from freezing to scalding every 10 seconds.
The basic breakfast is a disaster: not worth anything and the basement breakfast room didn t make me feel welcome. I d recommend eating breakfast across the street.
The windows are not airtight but the street was calm both nights so I had a two good nights of sleep.
Located 3 min by foot from a tube station, the location is fantastic!

The price is reasonable and not badly located. The rooms are very small and the hotel being under construction at the time of our trip, it is not top level condition of the carpets walls and the like.
And the breakfast included in the price ... It's toast and cereals, the rest is extra !!! Very average !!!

Perfect location, close to Tottenham Court Road and Oxford street. Comfortable beds and very good service.
The little negatives were that the breakfast could have been a little better. So my alternative to the hotel breakfast is the 24-hour open restaurant right next to the hotel.

Very accommodating. Room clean and comfortable. Free breakfast. Nothing is ever perfect. I enjoyed the friendly faces, it was a nice area. British Museum a block down the road. A really cool restaurant across the street, open 24 hours. Shops right there and taxis..

The room was too small and hardly had any space to move, the carpet in the room was coming off (it was as if something was buried underneath), the bathroom was OK although they cleaned it everyday, and worst of all someone (a staff member) just barged into the room before check out time (around 9 am) and just stood there with the door open setting the alarm off (was pretty loud), all while I was on an important work call.
The only good thing was the location of the hotel and also the people at the reception were friendly. Overall not a good experience though.

Great location, friendly staff, undergoing renovations so lots of things were half finished. The mattresses are disgustingly filthy in the two rooms i stayed in and need burning!! Shame as it could be a great place. But spending 5 nights in those beds is not right.

I stayed in the Cheshire Hotel yesterday evening and it was absolutely awful. I stayed for just over an hour.

The elevator was broken
The shower didn't work (in this heat I simply wanted to have a shower)
The room wasn't clean (the maids trolley was left in the corridor a couple of rooms away from me which can only suggest she hadn't got round to cleaning my room in time).
The staff were incredibly rude and this was before I even complained - they came across incredibly arrogant rather than wanting to offer a good service.
Building works were being carried out on the hotel and working sites were not left in a safe way- wires were hanging out of the walls.
The air-conditioning unit was broken (they said they didn't advertise for this, but there was a unit in the room and I therefore would expect it to work especially given the heat- the room was ridiculously hot even after leaving a window open for 15/20 minutes).

Central and cheap, but otherwise bad. No hot water. WiFi usually worked fine. No air conditioning. Had to get breakfast from nearby restaurant. Didn't expect much though, so it was mostly fine.

Absolutely fantastic customer service, Chetan who works over night is able to provide some of the best customer service I've ever seen despite it being the early hours of the morning. He's very helpful and kind. If you're looking for somewhere that's in central London without paying for a five star hotel this is the place! They also do single rooms for half the price of double rooms so if you're a single person who only has a few days in London this is a great way to not waste your time on travel and see the most of London.

If I could select a 0 star I would! There was 6 of us which was booked for my mums suprise 60th Birthday. We got there for 10:30am and the room was not ready until 3pm which is fine however, we asked to leave our bags and they didn t even have a locked up room to secure them. The receptionist was so rude and very unfriendlley! 3 of stayed on the fifth floor which was tiny! No room what so ever, the furniture was old and falling apart. We went for breakfast in the morning which was basically tea and toast! The waitress didn t talk and looked liked she didn t want to be be there!
There was no carpets on most of the stairs, the electrical box was left wide open, there was no paint on the walls in the corridor and the lift was broken! Which was very inconvenient as we had a pregnant lady with us! Apparently they were having a refurb! There were no signs anywhere stating this and nothing on the website! DO NOT STAY HERE! The only good thing is location

Never again. Was put in someone else's room by accident (G6) upon informing staff I was moved to another room in the basement not far away from G6. No mobile phone signal and WiFi that may as well not be there, and the carpet hadn't even been fitted properly just put over the old carpet creating a trip hazard and generally just looking terrible. Then late at night the guests whose room I'd been originally given (G6) came back and tried to get in, shock they had been locked out of their room, queue much disturbance whilst staff tried to understand what had gone on and eventually give the occupants access to their room! Stayed in many a place in central London, simply will not be going back, I'd go as far as to say it was the worst hotel experience I'd had for many years.

Awful hotel. My non-smoking room smelled smoke. The room was supposed to have working desk. It did not. The shower was renovated but you had to squeeze yourself in in a difficult way. All OK for lower price but not at the price point for neighbouring four start hotel.

Surprisingly good according to British standards. A bit small when you are 2 meters tall. The bed-, hallway- and room-sizes. Nice and clean. Helpful and positive staff. And remember to bring an adapter to the power outlet if you are not from the UK. A good place to stay if you are going to London and only need a fair priced place to just sleep, with better quality than most in this category.

Terrible!

Terrible!

No Wi-fi (fully paid though and described on the website), lights not working, electric sockets not working, elevator: if you like free fall - come use their elevator, dirty halls, ripped carpet staircase, very rude staff, freezing cold room, at times only cold water, for a full breakfast you need to pay another 6-8 GBP (not included as advertised) - same for luggage storage: it is not free, they charge you extra 5 GBP per bag.
A kind and well meant advice to the staff: a kind word, an apology or a kind explanation go a long way (not to be confused with making lies and treating your guests like they are less than smart) while you charge the full price at the end for room facilities and amenities that are not working or not there at all as advertised and descried upon booking.

Horrible. I spent three nights at this hotel, the room was in the "attic", moldy carpet, clogged toilets, there was only one electrical outlet, the wifi was paying, the unpleasant staff looked at us like if we did not have to be there.

The hotel provides a basic service, the room for 3 was small & breakfast was pretty disappointing (no cooked food included, supermarket quality products) I felt it was way too expensive for the experience they offer. It is a standard place that would be more than OK it it costed half the price.

Room was tiny and bed was 3/4 not double. It was also a hard mattress. It was very uncomfortable for both of us and we both slept badly because of it. The room was very basic. The wardrobe was small and wasn't sufficient for two people. There was also no bedside tables although the room was so small you wouldn't have got them in even next to the tiny 3/4 bed The lights only worked intermittently and you had to play around with the switches to get them to work. The electronic door key had to be reset mud stay as it stopped working. You couldn't either open or close the curtains as they were fixed too tightly to the curtain pole. Single glazed windows on a busy street location also provide no noise reduction what so ever. The dining room was desperately inadequate. Not sure how many rooms this hotel has but six tables definately isn't enough. I witnessed people having to stand around waiting for tables, which was uncomfortable for guests who were already dining and for staff. Overall this hotel is pretty poor and it gave me the impression that the owners aren't interested in looking after their guests and are just in it for the money as everything about it felt cheap and under budget.

The hotel was clean and the room was quite for central London. Breakfast was continental but did not cater for dietary restrictions (lactose free) though had I stayed more than one night they would have bought in some soya milk.

A good hotel in the vicinity. Great location for leisure, or business trip. You don t need a breakfast in-house because there are plenty of cafes around.

Great for first time traveller who want the essence of London in one place. Easy access to underground, bus stop, shopping area and eating places. There s one great souvenir stall too.

The room : Cosy. Picture it as Mr. Bean hotel episode but with the bathroom. There s a heater, radiator and great selection of tv channel.

The Hotel : Friendly staff, cozy lobby.

Very disappointed with this hotel, DO NOT STAY HERE on arrival the front desk was unattended for about 5 minutes, when the gentleman finally returned he was not very helpful at all almost rude and couldn't really be bothered . Upon checking in we was given our room key to our room on the 5th floor, we used the lift as you do - we didn't think would reach the 5th floor, and the sounds well a little unnerving to say the least. Opening the door to our room WELL IT was very disappointing a double bed not much bigger than a single, very dark and dated - condensation on the widows. As we were not happy we asked the gentleman on reception if we could have another room, his response was well you are only here for one night and that makes a difference because?. NO really this is how you treat your guests.
They took our payment at check in - I wonder why, they know that once you see your room and the service you get you would refuse to pay. Breakfast - well don't bother the service is to say the least slow, rude if you opt for the continental breakfast, think again it looked like it had been left out all night. My advise pay a little extra for a hotel and go somewhere nice and worth your money.

Housekeeping very unorganized. 3 nights here and never serviced my room. At the end they told me it was up to me to let the front desk know if I wanted service! I had to find someone daily to ask for bottled water and fresh towels (that left me covered in lint). The room is small, as I expected but the "remodeled" bathroom is depressing. Peeling paint, broken tub, etc. No bar on site as I had read on the website, no food unless you go out. Location is the only plus, but so many other acceptable accommodations nearby. I will pay more to stay elsewhere. London is expensive, but you shouldn't have to put up with substandard accommodations like this place.

It was okay. Very near to Oxford street, However, we had to change room to ground floor as 1stfloor was smelly and room was unmade. Ground floor room was good. We just had free breakfast, which included minimal items like toast with diff kind of spreads, diff kind of cereals, milk, cheese, fruit, tea. They will charge you for eggs or anything that needs cooking. Rest was fine.

We were received very short notice and received a very good deal for a room. The place was extremely clean, the only objection I have is the coffee in the room was kind of poor quality, we couldn't drink it, but then again, we just needed a place to sleep for a few hours. Worth it.

Room was nicely decorated but a bit small, the halls seemed to be under construction so not very pretty but looked as though they were making improvements. There was no hot water, very annoying!!! Might not have been their fault but we sent an email expecting some sort of compensation but only got offered a small discount off our next stay, won't be staying again.

hotel very well located, perfect location 2 min walk from oxford street. Regarding the hotel the rooms are very small as well as the bathroom. The breakfast is really not convincing, the breakfast room is too small there are very few tables, so you have to wait at the reception for the other customers to finish, because it is not possible to make a reservation.

Arrived to be told our rooms now not available as they have no water, they the owners at the Cheshire rebooked our group of 4 to an bland student filled massive hotel further away from the theatre we were seeing a show. After a short conversation the staff agreed to order taxis for getting about because of the now 4 mile walk to and from this other hotel. To really piss us off the cabbie asked for the fare as he had not been paid.
Show was good and had a great weekend. No thanks to the Muppets running the Cheshire Hotel. My tip Don't book it unless you really have too.
