I was surprised as anyone to find out this place existed outside of the city, so we took a little hike to explore this awesome place. I was only slightly familiar with Nepalese food, having had mo mo in the past. The service was very helpful in guiding us through our choices, and the food was amazing. Highly recommend the nepali thali to get a feel of the food style, which was heavy on stews and meats (though plenty of others are available). It is expensive, but definitely worth the experience. Don't hesitate to try their great cocktails either.

As I sit here eating my leftover Bheda Shank (lamb), I cannot get over this place. The ambience, service (Barkha and Jesse treated us like royalty), and most importantly the food were exquisite. I'm privy to food from this part of the world, but just about everyone will find something to enjoy on this menu. Eat here.

Very underwhelming experience. I ordered a chicken kukhura sandwich. The chicken tasted burnt probably due to excess grilling. My personal choice, but i left the chicken piece and ate the remaining ingredients as it was delicious with the chicken.
However the side of basmati risotto was excellent.

Came here on New Year's Eve when there was live blues, so I'm sure the place was more packed than usually. Despite that, the server was attentive, our food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, and it was excellent.

I will go back again on a quieter night to see what the atmosphere is generally like, but I definitely enjoyed my visit.

I am partial to Nepalese food, but the excitement, the warmth, and the variety of delicious foods offered at the cheel really stand it well above its competition. Her menu lists an entire page of honors and awards earned by the restaurant! Yum.

Irritable, exhausted-acting waitress. Didn't seem good with budgeting her time and tables... Maybe they needed more help. But if the help that was there, she was so ride to them. Food took a very long time to come out, fell apart, and bit early sure it was fired all the way, but didn't want to wait for waitress to break the news.

The Cheel is a fantastic restaurant! The food had outstanding flavor and the dishes were very distinct (it didn't all taste the same) and unique (unlike anything I have had at other restaurants). My drink was also very good. Our server was enthusiastic about all of the food on the menu and was able to give us in-depth descriptions of the dishes we asked about. The only issue I had is that it was very hot and loud in the restaurant. It is a small place and draws a crowd, so call ahead to put your name on the waitlist.

We gave u 2 stars because of entertainment...went to outside bar..very pleasant bartender..drinks we were told we needed to get inside with plastic cup and then return outside to enjoy music..perfect! Went in to order our drinks after waiting several minutes before bartender even greeted us...(not very friendly)only 2 other people at bar...said she would b with us in a minute...watched her wash some glasses and and then after several more minutes said 'I'm waiting for plastic cups'...several more minutes passed and we decided to leave..that's when we ran into owner outside...I'm assuming u r the one reading this...bartender inside needs to 'step it up' a bit...a little more pleasant and we would have stayed...fyi...u should b pre-pared with plastic cups inside for outdoor cocktails instead of making patrons wait
Just saying

Update: cheelaxing on my bday. Had an excellent fish fry ala Nepal and a taste of a very special Whistlepig. What a happy place. Wonderful food ...great drinks ...awesome owners and serve team.

The food is fabulous! It was "taco Tuesday", so I tried both the chicken and fish. It came with a small salad and a choice of sides. I went with the dal, and I would go back just for that marvelous spicy lentil soup. The "tacos" consisted of fried thin Nepali flat bread with choice of meat, topped with aachar, which is basically a condiment, but with complex flavors.
We went at 11:30, right when it opened, which was a wise move, as their parking lot fills up quickly (even more so as workers from the construction site next door seem to feel that it's okay to park there). Although it's 35 miles from my house, I will be a regular at Cheel - the food is that good. They also have live music once or twice a week, so I just might head there May 26th, when Leroy Airmaster is playing.

I have been here 5 times now, every time is as good as the last if not better. Food is amazing and unique, the craft cocktails are as well. Most impressive is the steak! I ordered mine medium and it was cooked to absolute perfection, I got the Gorgonzola and truffle mushroom topping and it is my new favorite meal. Rather than Carnivore I will come here for my steaks. Service is always top notch and courteous. What a gem.

Excellent customer service and ambience, however asian food was a disappointment. Soup should have a serving size (cup or a bowl). Portion size were little too small for asian appetite.

Hi Barkha,
Here is the elaboration. My comments are honest, in a hope that you guys could probably improvise and potentially add portion sizes, at least for soups. The portion of soup served was a cup size.
I cannot call out on other asian foods and american foods that are sevrved there but I definately did not like the taste of what we had that night and I guess you were well aware. You gave us a discount on food that we did not like. We appreciated that and we liked the hospitality! Dal what you called soup was comparatively thin in consistancy but could go well with rice, curry and pickle (what I meant to say is soup by itself is not filling enough)
I hope you guys will do well and keep the standard to match the price that customer pays and you offer.

I hope you would take our cooments as constructive ones.

Wishing you guys good luck!
Shraddha

I'm going to miss dining at the Cheel. The food is so unique and delicious my wife and I can't wait until they rebuild. Until then we've been enjoying their unique Taco flavors @ Daily Taco.

Delicious food, and I like the overall vibe. I went there for dinner one night while a live band was playing indoors, and I thought it would be too loud and noisy. The music was upbeat, but still mellow, and it turned out to be enjoyable. This place is a little pricey, but worth trying at least once.

Did takeout. Had the Himalayan ribs with risotto. The ribs were fall off the bone tender, and tasty. The green beans were crisp. And the risotto was very good. First time customer. I will be back.

I don't know if I can honestly love a restaurant more than I love The Cheel. Their food (Nepalese, Himalayan, etc) is exotic but the friendly staff are patient and clear in their explanations. Every dish is prepared with thoughtfulness and care, and I savor each bite of every dish. My favorite is the khow shew, a lentil and chicken stew. It's cozy, so don't arrive late unless you want to wait for an hour across the street. Additionally, the cocktails are expertly crafted, and utilize only the best ingredients and methods. As a former hospitality professional, I can personally recommend The Cheel as one of the best dining experiences to be had in the greater MKE area.

Best atmosphere in the Theinsville area! The bar tenders and Wait staff are super knowledgeable and wont ever steer you wrong (as long as you can choose between all the great options!). If you've been wondering what this kind of food has to offer, take advantage of the option to try it somewhere that prepares it in such a way that fits what you've come to expect in american cuisine :) great live music all year round! We found our selves caught in a heavy snow and just stayed warm with drinks and live music one night. Awesome, pure awesome.

We tried the Cheel again, this time after it's been in business for 5 years. We went originally when they first opened. It's ok. Nothing was like "OMG that was amazing". Some of our friends rave about this place. For us, it was decent, but not earth shattering. We had the lamb bites for a starter, the 5 spice ribs and the truffle fillet mignon. The ribs were pretty good, different than how I make them, but I expected that. The filet, I was a bit underwhelmed with. Then again, I'm never really impressed with a fillet mignon. At least the Cheel is a bit of ethnic food, so that's a plus. Something different. It just might be a few years before we go back.

Cheel has become our family go to for a Friday night fish fry. They do a fantastic twist on the Midwestern staple that is second to none. The drinks from the bar are always well made, the service is outstanding, and the food is always delicious. So lucky to have such a phenomenal restaurant close to home. Not into fish...order off their regular menu and youu will not be disappointed, everything is wonderful.
