If you want to experience unique and flavorful dishes that make your taste buds sing, make a trip to the Cheel. Greeted at the door by a cheerful hostess, seated at comfortable table and chairs (high tops are available in bar area) and provided drink menus first. Waitress greeted us and took drink order shortly thereafter. Table mate is a bourbon drinker and there was a small but nice selection. Chose the Blanton s and was satisfied. I enjoyed the Yeti summer cocktail. We had no experience with Himalayan/Nepalese cuisine. Waitress patiently went through the whole menu with us. Settled on the Nepali Thali which gave us a variety of dishes to try: : bandel roganjosh, kukhura tarkari, saffron basmati rice, choice of dal, seasonal vegetables, ghew, kenema, & classic aachar. always concerned about the heat of dishes since I do not tolerate any heat at all and the dishes come with a variety of sauces from mild to eat at your own risk. Not a problem as long as I did not add the sauces. Looking forward to returning and exploring more dishes.

Very nice place, location, food, drink, and staff! It was my first time there and I was quite impressed. The husband was there greeting guests on Saturday night.
Update:
Yes! We came early to eat (yumm!), then stayed for Jack and Jill's performance. I thoroughly enjoyed them. We were actually among the last to leave :-)

I love many of the dishes here. Every time I have some family visiting from India, I definitely bring them to The Cheel, because I know the food will always be worth the drive. Love this place!

Got there at open for lunch, server was rude. Brought out the wrong food first, then had to correct her. When the food I ordered arrived, it did taste good but the portions were tiny and it was quite expensive on top of that. Probably won t be coming back.

Love it! Complex tastes with a different twist. Food can range from mild to a little spice. Fun to taste foods thatare so foreign in flavor to us but delicious! Owners are friendly and welcoming.

Simply amazing food and ambiance. Had the unique experience of Nepalese cuisine infused with The Blues. Not sure you get this combination even in Nepal/Burma, but you can just north of Milwaukee proper.

One of the most amazing unique flavor meals we ever had. It was an amazing experience from the knowledgeable and friendly wait staff to the ornate decorations/place settings. Everything is made from scratch so expect longer wait times for the food but was worth it.

Ordered Thali and Choyala. Choyala was too salty. In thali except dal and achar nothing was like nepali food. Chicken tarkari was the worst. If you want to eat nepali food, the Cheel is not good place. Find some other place. We went to have momo but it was pricy. $12 for 5 pc momo is too much. So we opted for thali thinking we can taste their different dishes. We did not tasted other food but never going back for nepali food though.

Visited Cheel for the first time last night and was absolutely blown away by all aspects of our experience. The food was superb and beautifully plated, our server, Barb, was attentive and very knowledgeable, and the cocktails were wonderfully crafted. Seriously cannot say enough positive things about our experience. We will definitely be back.

Amazing service, great food. Jesse really made us feel welcome. A happy crowd included young families, sophisticated couples, and a few old jazz fans like us. I heard a small child ask his mom if there was anything there he could eat and he must have liked his choice because we heard no complaints from that quarter. The guitar, organ and conga group in the corner played standards with interesting rifs. The music brought us here and the well-seasoned ambiance will bring us back.

So glad we got here a little early, it gave our waiter (Peter) time to go over the menu with us and help us pick some amazing food. We split the combo of boar shoulder and chicken and loved it! It s off the beaten path for us (30 min drive) but definitely worth it. Highly recommended!

The pleasant young lady who took my order and brought out the food was so kind and very helpful when I was trying to decide what to order. I enjoyed the steamed dumplings and the delicate tasting bean noodle dish. I am glad I went with this light tasting meal, because later I decided to order the best cheesecake I ever had. I felt spoiled because when I commented to the owner's husband how delicious the cheesecake was, he offered and brought me one of their just-out-of-the oven chocolate filled (oatmeal?) cookies--the best cookie I ever had. Service was fantastic! Food was absolutely delicious, and the staff very friendly and helpful. I am so coming back to try their other more savory dishes, and have that awesome cheesecake again! and the cookie! Thank you so much for that!

All I can say is "WOW", this place blew me away with the most wonderful food that I have gone out to eat in a long time . I haven't been so excited to return to a restaurant as I am with The Cheel. Great staff, great drinks, great food.

My wife stumbled upon this little Nepalese restaurant (apparently Nepalese is similar to Indian food). We got the eggplant dip appetizer, the vegetaruan paneer lunch entree, and the 1/2 sandwich and soup combo. Our server was funny, kind, and energetic and the decor was homey, tasteful, and very pleasant.

Our appetizer was prompt. It was a warm eggplant dip ( Eggplant Bharta) on wonton style chips. The portion was very good, the dip was delicious (especially with a bite of the cilantro) and the chips were fresh. Will order again.

The paneer entree came with a lentil soup and seasoned basmati rice (Paneer Tarkhari), but what stole the show was the soup and sandwich. The soup and sandwich came with a steamed bun to dip in the soup. The soup (Ema Datshi) was a Brie soup with onions, potato, Shitake mushrooms, and I suspect poblano peppers. It is quite possibly the best thing on the menu. The sandwich (Besan Gyaw) is a vegetarian Wonder. It comes on Parmesan crusted Panini bread, with slices of smoked gouda cheese, pressed fried chickpea lentil Mash that is Smokey and savory, a wonderfully spiced mayonnaise and rivaled the soup.

The only thing my wife and I regret about our visit is that we fear we may not try anything else besides that soup and sandwich.

Our bill was over $40 yes, which means we won't be doing this every week, but it was worth every penny.

We were just passing through and thought we'd stop. The food was amazing. The salmon was perfect. The ribs were the best I've ever tasted. Evan, our server, was wonderful. I would definitely go back.

We dropped by last night on a whim and were lucky enough to get seats at the bar. The food as always was amazing, the service however was over the top. Dinah is a ridiculously talented bartender and made sitting at the bar a blast. She was fun to chat with and did an amazing job, thank you for the wonderful evening.
Cheers,
Brett

Had the Chef's Table.

Had the Chef's Table.
We had about 15 things to eat, and each was as good as the other, there were no favorites, just ALL favorites. I've been to 20 countries, have eaten at the famous restaurants of the world. The food and service here are as good as any. All home cooking, owners take pride in their business and are hands-on. The Chef's Table is a personalized dining experience. You want a memorable dinner for that special occasion? This is it.
Thanks, Barkha and Jesse for one of the best meals I've ever had.

I had never been here before, but was curious what it was. I was a little surprised to find out it was a Napalese restaurant, but it was a very pleasant surprise. I hadn't had that style of food before, but it was delicious! The waitress was also friendly and extremely helpful. I had a lot of questions, and she helped explain a lot.

Love this place. The menu offers lots of foods of Tibetan origin....camel sliders anyone? They were delicious. Last night we had a special not on the regular menu, boar nachos. Again, they were fantastic. The service has always been great, waitstaff and host are very attentive and accommodating.

I've never had Nepali food before. I'm not very adventurous when it comes to food. This was certainly exotic for me. It was wonderful. I haven't enjoyed a meal this much in so long. It's pricey, but considering many of the ingredients are imported and authentic, it's worth it. I highly recommend this place.

I've never been to Nepal. I've never eaten Nepalese food. One of the above changed this Tuesday night in Thiesville/Mequon, WI. I can't even tell you what I ate. Just that I will continue to explore Cheel each time I return to Wisconsin.

The fist time to the Cheel and it was outstanding! An hour later, and I can still taste the exotic spices lingering in my taste buds. Drew, our server was on-the-spot, knowledgeable, and served us with an excitement that was contagious. Definitely a repeat coming soon!

The best thing that ever happened to Thiensville! ...

The best thing that ever happened to Thiensville! The cheel is a great place to take family from out of town, enjoy a quiet dinner out, take the kids for a special lunch, or entertain a client. Everything I try is delicious and the staff really goes the extra mile to make you happy. I especially love all the lamb dishes. The menu changes frequently too, so you'll never get bored.
