Fantastic place - the views are superb, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean; the staff is excellent; the food is elegant; the rooms and public areas are lovely and best of all, they are highly supportive of the local community. We, as locals, go there as often as we can to dine and recommend it to people who want to special New England resort experience. People rave about their spa and enjoy their rooms.

I convinced my husband to change our summer family...

I convinced my husband to change our summer family vacation tradition and try Chatham Bars Inn. I should have known that something was amiss when they never called back when I inquired about rooms back in April.
We checked in July 5th - 1.5 hours after our promised check in time (and 5.5 hours after we arrived on property and checked to see when the room would be ready). Two hungry toddlers and two tired parents we tried to make the best of it. A dip in the pool and some lunch - it was difficult to overlook the neglect but we didn t want to let it ruin our time together.
Room wasn t ready until 5:30 (an hour and a half past promised check in time).
Lunch took forever to get food. Not fun with hungry and tired kids.

Overall the following mistakes were made during our annual family vacation by Chatham Bars Inn:
In April we had trouble booking for weeks, had to ask a good friend their contact to even get a call back.
Concierge not returning phone calls or emails for days and even weeks
Delayed checking in 1.5 hours after guaranteed time (with two hungry tired kids)
Overcharged for Harbour Cruise (wrong number of guests charged)
Breakfast order forgotten about in Stars, soggy avocado toast when it actually was served, like it was sitting a long time.
Cabana #18 not as promised by Concierge
Pool Server forgot drink orders and to help with umbrella when asked (too heavy to lift myself- I tried)
Nobody came by to ask if we needed anything while we were paying for a cabana, no consistency in cabana drinks and snacks, dirty countertops, old and rusty hinges, food in the deck and under chaises, no waters in some, they provide ice but no tongs, cups, etc.
At the CBI Clambake we had no server for the entire dinner (buffet)
CBI cancelled our reservation on Open table so we couldn t write a review about Clambake dinner

Overall I am so sad to be disappointed by this resort. I really wish I could enjoy our time here but after so many let downs I am not comfortable investing our family time here. We take one vacation together each year and next year I won t gamble my family time on false pretenses.

Hope this helps others avoid such disappointments.

Beware of Childcare

Beware of Childcare
My children were transported via car without my permission or prior knowledge. When I contacted the hotel concierge and General Manager it took them 3 days to get back to me. I found their response one of debate on the details. Except they did not challenge the fact the kids, 4 and 6 were transported without car seats or with a driver that had any credentials. The response below. would any parent react with concern finding out from their kids they were in car without your knowledge?
Hotel response below.

'Jen, thank you for letting me know about the situation with your children.
I can fully understand hearing this from your children and mothers react is of safety and appropriate care by our resort staff.
I have personally looked into this issue with our Director of Recreation and the program supervisor who was on the trip that evening with your children.
The children and the supervisor were transported by a resort Lexus and not an uber and under supervision of our staff.
All children were buckled in with seat belts in the back seats and no children are allow to sit in the front seat.
The vehicle has 2 back seats and perhaps the child was confused on the front seat?
Again, my sincere apologies, and our interest is to make sure all the children are safe at all times.
Thanks

Our room was an outer cottage, that was expensive for what it was. The valets parked cars in front of it, not exactly the ideal cottage experience . The plumbing in the building shared with two other units loudly alerted you to any flush or shower in the adjacent unit.
Our second time asking for blankets and sheets for the pullout bed, someone opened the door and threw them in the until while we were out. I can't imagine anyone would pay peak season prices for the experience.

Well:

Well:
- Bed big and comfortable
- Good view, water view
- free rental of bicycles

Poor, especially with the prices:
- old, worn, dirty in many places
- Very small bathroom with no storage space
- Cluttered in public areas
- Spa area. Shouldn't call itself that at all in Europe. If you just want to be massaged or the like, that's fine. Sauna only for women in the changing room, tiny room, dark, old, not preheated, smells like mold. Men's wardrobe with a "steam shower". Uncomfortable shared waiting area. Outdoor pool ok, but it needs to be renovated urgently! Sharp edges, missing or loose tiles, rust, etc.
- no hot water bottle (because of pain) available, not highly dramatic, but a shame

I would never spend that much money on this hotel and I cannot understand the very positive reviews. The location is good, the staff are mostly nice. That's it.

I had an amazing experience at this location. The atmosphere is one of a kind, paired with more of a "high class" vibe. I felt like I was truely cared for by the staff, making sure my ever want/need was attended to. I will be returning next year for another outstanding visit. 10/10 highly recommend.

The end of an era. Have been going to CBI for the past twelve years. In the past 3 - 4 years, we've watched the quest for higher corporate profits slowly destroy a legend. $1,000 a night for a room the size of a closet, no water pressure, horrible food, management that absolutely hates their jobs (Special shout-out to Ms. Kennedy at the front desk for her sour , uncaring, unprofessional demeanor). I guess everything changes. Goodbye CBI, you won't be missed.

Very fancy hotel, but the fireplace in my room was broken and there was no USB port provided at the bedside to charge my phone. I think they tried to turn the room quick because i wasn t given any facecloths or body lotion in the bathroom. Housekeeping came to fix the fireplace after I called the front desk and the phone rang and rang. Eventually someone picked up. Very nice hotel otherwise.

Wholly molly it's expensive. Great food, great preparation. Even the vinagrette on the house salad (a pile of lettuces) was great. Service was great. They even brought the kids' dishes early. I had the tuna burger which was a little salty, and wife had the lobster roll which was also well done. I just wish it wasn't insanely expensive, but you do get what you pay for

Stay at East Wind Cottage! (ocean view side, obvs) I just had the privilege of spending two nights in East Wind Cottage, room 292 -- the view of the beach and ocean from my living room was stunning. CBI staff were welcoming and helpful throughout my visit, I highly recommend staying here if you can swing it (Thank you friend of a friend who made my reservation affordable!!)

Absolutely wonderful experience. The room was clean with a nice view of the golf course. The restaurant, The Sacred Cod, was delicious. The spa was relaxing, the staff courteous and professional. The pool was well-maintained and the staff friendly. I highly recommend this resort.

I can't recommend this place enough. If you are looking for a beautiful vacation, you can't go wrong with the Chatham Bars Inn.

The staff is honestly unlike any hotel staff I've encountered (globally). The most helpful and thoughtful people. Everyone from the management, to the restaurant servers and particularly the valet/bell staff (those guys were so clutch during these pandemic times).

The property is stunning. Absolutely breathtaking. Beautiful rooms, beautiful landscaping. Top notch amenities.

There were some issues with our initial room, but it's not worth mentioning because the staff so QUICKLY addressed them.

Triple bonus points for the fleet of Lexus vehicles they have on site. We test drove a GFS, so much fun.

Disappointing meal and service from one of our favorite places to stop in the Cape. Clam chowder was lukewarm, you should expect more for $12. The meals and service were just ok, not what we have experienced in the past. I hope it was just a fluke but after spending almost $160 for lunch for two not sure I want to stop here again. This used to be a highlight of our trips to the Cape

Lovely inn. The staff is so attentive without being annoying. Stephanie at the front desk is excellent. Facility is clean, attractive, comfortable. Landscaping gorgeous. Sacred Cod tavern very nice, great cocktails. Try the lavender sour! Beach is across the street and there's an amazing pool too. Do have to say that without a Groupon, I couldn't afford a stay. The only thing I wish they'd change are the pillows; they're squishy and go flat and I like a nice firm pillow. I like a firm mattress too but most hotels don't offer that.

Our group of 11 received poor service during our last visit to the Chatham Bars Inn. We felt forgotten while all we wanted was to order overpriced appetizers and drinks from the beach bar. When the servers finally took our order, we requested appetizer plates and napkins but didn't see any servers until the check with 18% added gratuity was delivered to the table.

The hotel was fine, but for the experience I had with my family was not as expected to be as bad. The waiting time for getting toiletries is very slow as well as the price for a 1 bedroom cottage 1,350$$$$$ and so many HIDDEN FEES like tennis court use fees. As of now would not go back unless improved features.

The lobby is welcoming and warm, the food and drinks at the Sacred Cod were excellent. We enjoyed the amenities especially the ride to and from our dinner in town. I'd highly recommend staying at the Inn, especially in the quieter off season.

Chatham is my favorite area on Cape Cod. Even if you don't stay at the Chatham Bars Inn, you must go there for lunch or dinner, to catch the beautiful ocean view from their porch. In season they have an outside bar set up with lots of outside chairs. Imagine sitting, relaxing while looking out at the ocean.

Not worth $1000/night. Rooms are nothing special. You have to move your own bags. Beach is rocky. Facilities are crowded. We stayed 5 days and could not get reservation to whale watching or even the kids program but they'll put us on the "waiting list." $1000 plus per night for a waiting list? How about buy another boat or hire another kid sitter. Also they charge extra for tennis, plus $5/ racket . Again this is $1k plus per night and they charge you $5 to rent a racket. Place is a $250/night hotel or maybe even $500 for cape cod upcharge
