If price is your biggest concern than the Chateau ...

If price is your biggest concern than the Chateau can meet your needs. It is safe and centrally located, but offers little else. It's best days have to be twenty years behind it, which looks to be when it was build and last updated. From its stained exterior to its crumbling interior the entire place is just shabby. We observed a crack in the glass of the front door; broken art work in the lobby that was glued back together; missing trim in the elevator and a cracked light fixture as we got off the elevator. Our room had loose shower tiles, a broken towel rack, only two pillows on a king bed and and air conditioner that squeaked and rattled loudly every 10 minutes or so. When requesting additional pillows we had to call the front desk 4 times before someone picked up. There was trash floating in the fountain; room keys that did not open the gym door and vending machines that only worked on your third option. While none of these issues are major by itself, except the A/C issues, they all pointed to a lack of detail and putting money back into the business. I can't imagine anyone using this as a conference center, or staying more than one night, so would strongly recommend exploring other options if at all possible. I hardly ever write reviews unless we had a bad experience, so this is really more a word of caution more than a review

This is a huge, older building. It is unfortunately showing signs of deferred maintenance and neglect. For example doors and door frames are rotting. Some sidewalks and areas of the parking lot are in rough shape. The toilet in my room leaked on the floor. That's what a toilet is supposed to prevent. The first room I was assigned to had a terrible odor and I was moved to a differerent room. The swimming pool was closed during my two night stay. After reading other reviews, this seems to be a recurring problem at the Chateau. The staff at the front desk were very helpful and friendly. The housekeeper was also helpful and kind. Dispite their professionalism, I'll probably stay elsewhere in the future.

Was here because I was visiting some friends, I must say that the hotel was quite nice, giving off a little bit of an outdated luxurious vibe, which I liked. The pool and hot tub were nice, and the rooms were everything you'd expect. I wasn't able to find anything wrong with my experience, but I didn't stay as long as others might.

You know the old saying, "You get what you pay for!" The Chateau is in the beautiful building that was once Jumer's, which, in its day, was the finest hotel and banquet facility in Bloomington-Normal. I recently stayed 2 nights at The Chateau and see that it hasn't improved any since my last disappointing stay which was a couple of years ago. The front entryway reeked of chlorine, the elevator reeked of cheap air freshener, and the hallway outside the elevator on 3rd floor smelled like vomit! The front desk attendant said she gave me a "guiet" room, but the 3 big A/C units outside my window, plus the kitchen grill vent, were not very quiet! The sheets feel like sandpaper and are so rough they hurt my skin! The bathtub was disgusting! (see photo below) I know those tubs with the non-slip surface can be challenging to clean, but find some bleach or something that will get them clean! The shower curtain was dingy and yellowed, as if it had been there since the days smoking was allowed in the rooms. The elevator broke while I was there (there is only 1 elevator) and they didn't bother to post any signs anywhere saying it was out of order. That might be because they don't seem to have very many employees. There is NO free continental breakfast. Other reviews have mentioned a $5 breakfast, but I didn't see that, must have discontinued it. The parking is free, but not very close to the front entrance. Such a beautiful building to house such a disappointing hotel!

The Chateau is supposed to be this amazing hotel, and it looks like it from the outside..Right? Well it's a joke. We've had many family event's here over the years including my Graduation party, and my Mothers 40th birthday party, but I've never been this disappointed. We had family come in from Tennessee for the weekend, and decided to do an early Easter at the hotel. We rented two rooms, so the kids could swim, and everyone could enjoy themselves.
1. Staff seems annoyed by the children- Am I supposed to keep kids in the room all day? They aren't crazy, but they aren't going to sit in front of a TV.
2. The pool water was so cold that the kids only swam for 10mins before wanting to leave b/c it was too cold.
3. The hot tub was disgusting. Things floating around, dirty water, and looked like it hasn't been clean in forever.
4. We ordered pizza for dinner, and wanted to all sit down as a family and eat however there wasn't enough room in the actual room to for everyone to eat. In the lobby there was table and chairs that we made work. I didn't want to eat in the lobby just due to the fact of bothering other families so asked if we could sit in one of the empty rooms that had chairs/tables. I was told you had to pay for that room. Which I do understand, but when it's not being used what good is the room doing? So instead we all crammed around a table in the lobby and ate.
5. The rooms where terrible! So small, didn't smell good, and the bathroom door wouldn't even shut b/c it was too big for the frame.
6. They used to have a free breakfast, but now breakfast is $7-$10 a plate....
That's the last time we stay at the Chateau. Very disappointed, and clearly a waste of money.

Hotel rooms are OK. Front desk are nice. Restaurant food was good. Good furniture. The faucets need redone and the ac\heat units need a bit of work. Breakfast wasn't really breakfast. Vending machines need updated with card swipes as well. The hotel is half and half. One one end you have a somewhat OK but could be better with a little bit more effort.

When we checked in the hotel had lost our reservation and it took a long time for them to find us a room. They is extremely dated. It looks like the hotel the Tower of Terror is based on. The room was more modern and overall clean.

It was wonderful! The hotel is located within walkingdistance of the flat top grill and about a 5 minute drive from the mall. The rooms are a relatively decent size, adding in that the entire hotel was recently renovated. Overall I'm highly pleased with my stay and will be back in the near future.

Odd place with a funny smell (maybe due to the fountain in the lobby and plethora of brass bird statues). I enjoyed the kitsch (why not?) - but then they evacuated everyone in the hotel because apparently there were no working fire alarms. Oops.

Pool & hot tub looked a little iffy. Attached restaurant (Tony Roma's) was very nice - food was insanely salty, but the service was good.

The staff here was fantastic for a meeting I attended, the food was delicious, and the space was beautiful. However, the bathrooms needed some fixing all week, and the internet service didn't work well despite being told there should be no issues with it.

Had a small issue with getting the price that our group was promised when block pricing was set up. Got to hotel and front desk helped get that fixed. Only reason for the four star rating otherwise I enjoyed my stay and would come again.

I just had my wedding ceremony and reception on April 7, 2018 at the Chateau. I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. I loved all their "old style" decor. Britany House in sales is absolutely amazing!! She works side by side with you ironing out details for your day. The food for the wedding was delicious!! They have amazing wedding packages that cover food, bar, banquet hall, and suites. That helps take alot of stress off of wedding planning when so much of what you need, they provide. Britany will work hard to make sure you are very happy with your special day. Her serving staff is very professional and excellent employees. I am so happy with how my wedding turned out. Britany and The Chateau is a huge reason why it was such a great day!

This would be a five star, however the booking agency was unprofessional and ridiculously hard to do business with. The booking agency lied about the amenities offered and would not issue a refund, instead, they blamed the hotel and insisted the refund come from them. The hotel was beautiful and had a lot of charm and character.

The Chateau's decor is so beautiful! The room is very spacious and the bed is amazingly soft, I don't think I've slept that well in a long time! The staff goes out of their way to make sure all of your needs are met, too.

I went there for a job interview, and from what I saw it looked somewhat nice. However, the piano in the lobby was severely out of tune, and I was a bit upset about that. The staff was very polite in letting me know where to go.

A disappointing experience. When I got into my room, there was a half eatened cookie on the headboard. Also, there was a used bar of soap in the shower. When I used the shower, the water pressure was like a watering can. When I informed the front desk of the dirty room, they said they would "talk to housekeeping."

Nice but dated rooms, the location was easy to find, and the service was decent. Our room had an issue with the toilet but they upgraded us to a larger room so it was no big deal. Otherwise I would say that it was had a kind of old fashioned luxury feel to it.

The hotel is beautiful but what really stuck out was the staff. I believe Makenzie was the young lady who helped me at the front desk, she was extremely friendly, answered all of my questions, and made me feel very welcomed!

The building, especially the lobby, is beautiful but some of the other reviewers were right in saying it could use some updating. The room was a little dated, though clean and typical for the price. There was free breakfast by the way. When we looked it up it didn't say there was free breakfast.

Super cute atmosphere and great area to be located for restaurants and shopping. The comforters/bedding could be updated. I liked that it was connected to Tony Roma's to met with other's in the evening.

Nice hotel, food was awesome. Took a long time to get service in the resturant. Front desk staff was really nice. Room was nice but beds reminded me of an old plastic hospital bed. I would attend another social event there but will not stay the night.
