Thanks for showing us a great time on Friday night! We closed the place down :)
LOVE THIS PLACE! Great food (try the chili), restaurant parking on the side and comfortable atmosphere. Maria helped us plan an impromptu family birthday party and it worked out perfectly. Alex the piano player/singer is AMAZING! We left feeling like he was apart of family.
Their patio is a great place for cocktails during the warmer months. Come for the pig roast any Friday.
Seems grand, came for a cigar and coffee. Lucky for me I have my own cigars. My "Where to smoke" app said this is a good place. Like the location and the food is an 8.5. Almost great. But it may have been the time of day I stopped by.
Go here on your birthday. Bring your friends. Sit on the patio and drink and converse. Always a nice time, excellent service.
Such a fun piano bar with affordable drinks! Grab a seat right next to the piano and be sure to participate and sing the night away!
One of the last great Denver dive bars. Piano bar and decent food. People watching some of the best. They give you a free tab if it's your birthday!
Neat little local piano bar. Great food. Chill atmosphere. Highly recommend!
Great staff, great food, excellent place to be with friends
Get there while the music is playing best place in town!
The piano thing is fun, and the happy hour tacos are a great deal, but the beer menu feels like Applebee's.
Amazing pizza here and the piano bar is an experience. I was waiting for the Cheers song, but no luck.
I tried to plan a birthday celebration/sing along here. I emailed them and never got a response. I followed up with a phone call, and when I talked to them, the staff was rude and the manager was "too busy to talk to me." (Literally, that is what I was told.) After being there several times, I am done. I'll be taking my business elsewhere. There are other piano bars in town.
Great place! Nice to sit on the patio to eat and be able to smoke without going outside the restaurant. Wish there was more places like that. Food was reasonably priced and excellent. Servers were great too. Went back again and only thing I could say bad is steak was medium well to well both times when ordered medium. Easy fix next time I'll order med rare because I do like a little pink I'm the center lol but I will be going back soon for sure
Fun night, good music, impressive singers. Great patio to smoke on, and when someone caused a disturbance they were quick to kick them out.
Unless you're there at one of the happy hours, drinks are pretty over-priced, even for cap hill. The inside is pretty dreary but the patio is large and great for when the weather is good. The service is hit or miss. I've never eaten there - there don't seem to be a lot of vegetarian options. It is a neighborhood staple... Just not my favorite hangout.
They do 2 for 1 drinks as a special and have outdoor (but covered) seating for smoker groups. Definitely a cool spot to try out!
This place is an institution. Nightly piano bar singing. The food is great. The owner super friendly. Mostly a positive fun place to go if loud crowds are what you need.
To enjoy the ambiance of the bar grab a late lunch. There is history here. Look closely at the paintings. And you can actually have a conversation.
That changes about 8 PM. The crowd gets loud and raucous. You'll here " Piano man " at least 5 times in keys that have not been invented. And it becomes a competition to see who can be loudest and off key. But its all good fun...tip the piano player especially if you request Piano man, Margaritaville, any Elton John, Lionel Ritchie, and At Last.
On rare occasions you will hear singers who will blow you away. Talent has lurked this room.
Not the place for a quiet date. But definitely the place to get loud and have fun with that date.
MOST spectacular reunion with old friends. Service was perfect. Food was great and timely, this place was a wonderful experience!
I've lived 1 block from C.B.'s , as I call Charlie Brown's, for over 20 years. It's my home away from home & truly love the staff, management, and owners. They've been like family and a blessing. Cheers! Love u my friends! Justin Ur the best!
I really like this place, piano tunes in the background creates a great atmosphere!
Great food, live entertainment, and friendly service. Perfect for a date night.
Go on a Friday during the summer, they roast a whole pig and serve you a little per table.
Our waiter was awesome. Can't recall his name. Place is mad old fashioned but cool
This is a Denver staple. The tradition of getting a free 30 dollar bar tab for your birthday brings me here several times a year with friends. The piano players are top notch and the smoking lounge is cozy. There's always a friend willing to buy food for the table and it always makes for some sweet grubbin'. Is it an every day bar? Maybe for some. For me, it's a place to spend Christmas... because my friends birthday is Christmas and they're open serving him his $30 worth of free booze.
A few Fridays ago, arrived at a packed Happy Hour!
Festive atmosphere- people singing at the piano bar,
a friendly and competent waitress who took care of
many tables!
As a vegan, I was impressed that this historic bar
would offer veggie burgers and other options. Many of
Denver's newer, more upscale restaurants have few,
if any, vegetarian plates.
If Jack Kerouac could be inspired by this place, surely
today's veggie hippies and yuppies should know about
Charlie Brown's! Unpretentious, diverse, warm.
A week later, took my mother there--had a huge veggie
pizza with no cheese--delicious.
Next time you're on the road, stop here and have a beer!
Awesome happy hour! Great people and great food. Always a top place to go!
Place with a piano bar inside and an awesome heated patio outside. They might get your drink order wrong, but during happy hour you get two for one domestic beers and well drinks. Really good place to go with a group, they don't care if you push tables around and take over a corner. Also, go on your birthday and they'll give you a $50 tab for free.
cigarette smoking all over the place on the patio .. even our WAITER was smoking - how does this place get away with it? .. we were trying to eat and it was ridiculous ..
The food is disgusting. I ordered the nachos and they had a single layer of tortilla chips straight from the bag, refried beans, and watery guacamole. You can legit get better quality food at Taco Bell for a fraction of the price.
The crowd skewed old when I was there in the evening around 6 pm. I didn t recognize most of the songs played.
An armed and uniformed police offer patrolled the dining area, which was very intimidating. Perhaps this place is unsafe later in the evening? I ve never gone to an upscale restaurant with that level of blatant security.
I love piano bars enough that I ll try again later in the night, but I ll stick to drinks only.
Edit to respond to the owner: I did not order the happy hour nachos. I ordered the $10 regular nachos from the appetizer menu.
Great for hanging out after a concert. Or in general...
True to form. Charlie Brown's is one of Denver's most necessary places to check out. Love it here!
Piano bar with a patio, too. They were roasting a whole pig on a giant outdoor rotisserie yesterday during Happy Hour. 2-4 one domestics and wells
Awesome old school feel. Cozy. Piano bar kicks ass and great food
They give you free drinks on your birthday and they have a great prime rib open faced sammich!
Great food, good staff, ok price. Definately would go back.
One of my favorite neighborhood spots - great for any occasion!
We love this place. Low key casual old time bar, not "foodie" fussy food, fun atmosphere. Go around Christmas and sing Christmas songs with the piano players and the whole room singing along.
Didnt like the food really but all we had was like a fried food plater so I'm not sure about the rest of thier food, and the drink were okay my girlfriend really like this drink that tasted exactly like purple cough syrup and she loved it, the cool thing is on your birthday they give you 30 dollars to spend at the bar and the walls have the history of the place posted so it's pretty neat to read through
Maybe I didn't pick a great day to visit the spot.. I had always heard about great happy hour and it's probably to fault of my own that I showed up on a holiday in which their happy hour is not in place. Just would have been nice to know via the website before I showed up. Once you commit to a game plan it would be pretty awkward to leave. I felt my server didn't really want to be there and I wasn't getting 2 for 1 happy our wines so over all my expectation did not add up with what I had heard about the place.
I have been coming here for years and thought it was time to write a review. The prices on drinks and food are great, also the late night happy hour is a steal. You will be singing to the piano with friends and strangers in no time.
Not your local corner bar, no. The live music every night by a pianist playing first Broadway and then Disney and then Michael Jackson covers will tip you off. The worn laquer on the wood bar, the vague smell of old smoke and model ships will transport to back in time, certainly, until you find yourself singing along with whatever song is being carefully reconstructed or belted out.
This is a wonderful place for a drink and a meal, and the world is lucky to have it.
More hits than misses at this iconic Denver bar. Yeah it gets very crowded with often a highly demanding crowd which can impact the experience, but it is consistently good food and a great atmosphere. This is THE Cheers experience in Denver. First place that comes to mind for a very classy dining experience with more classic Denver charm than pretension.
Subpar food here but the drinks are good. Came here with coworkers and the place smells like smoke. I think it's from when they used to smoke back in the day and the smell never left the place. Great patio and they smoke a pig in the summer.
Great NY strip sandwich, homemade soup is always delicious and the atmosphere is very upbeat. Typically a great time!
I've ordered Mediterranean shrimp and red zinfandel to accompany my meal and I was pleasantly surprised. My shrimps were amazing although wine was a little too warm but delicious. Staff was very attentive and they made sure I get the best experience ever.
Hang out. Chill with friends. Sing at the Piano Bar, or watch sports. A piano bar, and a sports bar. Good food too.
Live karaoke with a piano player a little too crowded for my taste
I've been going to Charlie Brown's for nearly 20 years that plays rules
This is not a real piano bar, They do not have to dueling pianos and the musician playing the piano won't know half of the songs you request or play them. Most of the songs played the night I was there were slow and soft songs nothing upbeat.
Still one of Denver's best restaurants. Delicious steak and all kinds of other yummy choices. Plus a sing-along piano bar...who could ask for more!
"That Kamasutra book with stuck together pages. . . .that Victorian rubber that we used for ages. . . . And how the ointment stings. . . . These foolish things. . . remind me of you"- mouse and British Johne*(to the tune of these foolish things). . . . To my friends who don't come to this piano anymore, I'm sorry If I did mis your funeral. But I still pretty much count down the days till I see you then. A lota funerals I didn't miss. Mr Deveroau, Mr Lopez. . . . So many more you beautiful people so many wonderful memories here. God bless Charlie Brown's and its place in history
Historic piano bar at night, excellent happy hour. One of my favorite places.
I had a great experience on my birthday! They give you $30 value of complimentary drinks to celebrate. Good food and service, with very friendly employees. There was a minor mixup with our food order, but the manager came to our table, kindly explained the situation and bought my companion a drink while waiting for the food. Sitting in the enclosed, well-heated smoking patio was a wonderful option! I will definitely come back, the next time I'm in Denver.
Great place family owned chill place to get some great food even at 1am. Has a big menu that has something for everyone. Even open on most holidays which is great too. I go there a lot lol breakfast, lunch, and dinner some times maybe I do that once a week or soo. But I mostly get dinner there a couple times a week. And the food is good about 8/10 times I go there. But seems like the place is going a little down hill if you ask me. Why well during the day time now the food isn't what it use to be so I kinda stop going for breakfast and lunch. I'm not really picky but just wast good its either not cooked right or Burnt no consistency there. I still go a lot for dinner which my hat is off to the chefs that work the evening shifts almost never any complaints when they are cooking. Also second I know it's a bar I get that I'm young I party and have a good time to but more an more often now latter in the evening They have these clowns that get plastered that make TONS OF COMOTION and just run around crazy in there just pounding on the piano not even playing anything just pownding on the keys for what seems like for ever an the staff doesnt even do anything about it. An somtimes Im pretty sure they don't even pay their bills. Iv had to bring my food outside plenty of times Just to get away from them. But overall its a great place they need to get it back the way it was or they will start driving away all the locals slowly but surely.
So fun at the piano bar with great pianists who play a little bit of everything!
Great service and fun place, definitely coming back
An enjoyable restaurant that has a good menu, was good service and some fun history. Take a break and enjoy opportunity for a good meal and an enjoyable time.
We were there for 2 different piano players. The atmosphere was friendly. Lots of fun if you know a lot of classic songs. Happy hour prices are good. Food is good as well.
I've never been treated like this before, was threatened by management, I'll never go back there again!
The piano in the corner sets a great atmosphere and makes it a great place to grab drinks and hang out. I've always had great service when here and they also have a great deal if you come in on your birthday!
I just moved to the neighborhood and I was extremely excited to try this place, just a block away from my home. I brought 3 friends with me and lucky us it was 2 for 1 happy hour. Two of my friends went in before us and asked for water, because they were not drinking. The waitress threw attitude immediately and was clearly mad they weren't ordering drinks, even though they ensured her that we were coming in and about to order. I ordered one gin fizz and was going to give the other one to my friend who was drinking. We CLEARLY only asked for two drinks (the buy one get one). When the waitress came back she dropped off 4 drinks, we immediately told the waitress this was a mistake and we had only ordered 2 drinks and that she was charging us incorrectly. She fought us and stated that their policy was that they wouldn't split happy hour drinks, even though I paid and stated that when she was at our table. She was extremely aggressive and refused to admit her fault, fighting us to the end. Saying, "We do not split happy hour drinks, I didn't make a mistake. Do we have a problem here, I will just go and get my manager". We didn't even touch our drinks, I was very upset and suggested we just leave after I had already paid and left a standard tip. The manager comes over to us and insists the payment is accurate and said repeatedly that he would speak to the incredibly rude waitress. It would be one thing if they had disclosed that they do not split happy hour drinks and we would be getting four drinks, but it was never said and we were absolutely charged incorrectly. We dealt with MULTIPLE rude and passive aggressive comments from our waitress. It was clear she made a mistake and refused to change the bill. I didn't mind paying for it and absolutely didn't refuse to to tip on a bill I was incorrectly charged for. What I could not handle was how rude our waitress was and how poorly it was handled. From a customer service perspective I have NEVER been treated so poorly in my life and it was clear she felt she could take advantage of us because we were young. I have been dying to check this place out and the vibe when we got in was amazing, heck they were doing piano covers of the beastie boys. However, after being treated so poorly I will never come back. I have never been rude or demanding to a service person but I believe this server should be let go and I would like to be contacted by a manager or an owner to be refunded as we didn't even touch our drinks and it was so clearly not what we expected or asked for. I have never walked out of a place or left a full drink on the table but I walked out of there so mad I couldn't even think.
