TLDR: The employees and their owner are extremely disrespectful. Do not rent through this company.
They sent mine and my roommate s security deposit refund as one check which was fine until I found out we couldn t cash it at my bank. Was asked if I d like to shred the check because it was useless, I agreed, and a month later I called Century 21 to ask if they could write 2 separate split checks for my roommate and I. Instead of being helpful and letting me know if they would rewrite the checks, they were immediately more concerned with the shredded check, like it mattered. They wanted my bank information and were harassing the bank about *why* the check was shredded, again, like it freaking matters. Anyone who knows how money works would know you can check records to see if a check has been cashed, cancel the check, and write another. Do they just keep the deposits of people that lose checks?? Have they never had to rewrite a check before?? I was not asking for this process to be immediate but they were speaking to me in a rude manner like I was trying to scam them. If I could cash the check originally I would not be calling them to rewrite it. Honestly, train your people better with customer service and maybe a bit of financial work considering they don t know how checks work.
Edit for the owner: My issue was with how I was spoken to and how the process was made difficult for everyone involved. Berating me for not having a check, whether it was lost or shredded, and then calling banks to verify when you could check your own records is unnecessary. I told them my bank s name before they said they would be calling asking for the banks policies. I would not give the address because there is no reason to harass the banks over a shredded check. They would know there wouldn t be an issue with future checks if they had listened to me when I explained it would need to be 2 separate checks to resolve the issue. Posting this review 20 minutes after the call doesn t change how the situation was handled and having the owner call me afterwards to continue to berate me explains why your employees think they can treat customers like this. By the way, calling my roommate and accusing me of fraud, really professional. I will not be removing my review.
