Central Hotel Kano Review

One of the most ugly place I ever seen. Recommend to horror movie scenes.

Its just a nice place to stay. The staffs are hospitable.

Grand Central is history well preserved. Do you know this is one of the earliest hotels in the North of Nigeria, and that the Queen of England, Elizabeth spent the night at the hotel during her visit to Kano in 1956? You also need to know that this historic hotel served as home to travellers when Kano was a trade hub for counties south of the Sahara. The dome puts you in a relaxing mood while the tower gives you a wonderful aerial view of Kano. Visit Grand Central Hotel and insist on a room in the tower with Windows facing the ancient city of Kano.

Terrible experience.
The ceiling of the bathroom in my room, 151, was leaky and there wasn't water in the washbasin. The room itself was stuffy and dank. The towel available on arrival was obviously used and I had to request a fresh one. The bedding also hadn't been changed. The mattress wasn't firm and didn't make for a good night's rest.
I had to expend half a can of mosquito spray when I checked in because of the sheer number of mosquitoes in the room on arrival.
At the very minimum, a 3-star hotel should deliver on cleanliness and orderliness. Grand Central hotel, Kano does NOT deliver on the very basics! Very disappointing.

My experience was very unpalatable especially with the manager. The room given to me 334 had issue with AC and the room is not well ventilated. I stayed for about 4 hours for the AC to be fixed. The AC was malfunctioning throughout the night. In the morning I made a complaint waiting for the manager. He saw me standing and the receptionist signalled to him yet he refused to hear me and was asked to wait. I waited at the reception until I became annoyed and check out early (I was to stay 3 days). In between, I requested for discount for the remaining 2 days as a result of my experience, which was turned down (the receptionist couldn't because it wasn't within his power.

The attitude was very poor and no justifiable reason for that especially when a customer is not satisfied with the service.

It's a nice place and their swimming pool is big and clean, but you have to pay before entering the swimming pool.

Environment very calm and the staffs are friendly, I enjoyed my stay .

It's in a good location. The rooms are big enough but not very impressive. It's okay for a night stay. I don't like the food and it's expensive!

First experience, poor service, will need to improve.

It's a big and old hotel which they manage quite well. The facilities in the bedroom are not amazing to be honest. But, they are serviceable. The interior of the reception/lobby is to die for. The outside architecture of the hotel is beautiful.

The rooms are furnished with state of the art furniture.

This is one of the oldest and most popular hotels in Kano.
They have lodge rooms, conference rooms and halls.
They also have a large swimming pool that is up to 12 feet at its deepest.
Their facilities are fine and in great shape.

This happens to be one the best hotels in Nigeria far back 30 years upward. It was formally Central Hotel before it was changed to Grand Central Hotel recently.

The hotel was renovated by Protea Hotel group and later cancelled the business deal that puts them together.

The hotel is located in a business area with access to major business installations such financial centres and biggest markets in Kano State.

Grand Central Hotel has some nice apartments. Though lack of adequate maintenance made this place behind many hotels and residences in Kano State.

Hotel lobby and environment looks nice, but the room and toilet is 2star. .The restaurant food is good especially the chips and fried chicken.

Ok. Old, dilapidated, ac systems old and not cooling. Needs a lot of maintenance

Nice hotel with good amenities. Ample parking space, working elevator and conducive conference rooms.

I really appreciate how they react to there customers.

They've got a nice lobby with a large collection of old books for readers, the supporting facilities like the salon & restaurant are nice, the location is good as it's close to the airport & other nice places in town. It's also kind of quiet.
However, the rooms feel like $10 - $30 rooms & they are poorly maintained. I had to get my room changed & upgraded but almost everything in the new room was in bad shape.
I think it's abit too pricy.

The water keeps going off. The water heater didn't work. The TV remote was bad so we were stuck with a local station. Their Wi-Fi was very crappy and almost non-existent. Bathroom towel was very old. On the good side, the hotel location is central so almost any services you need is a few trek away.

Its as good as the place most people say it is...... Its a very nice place.

Very good hotel and a business place, good security and nice environment

Historic hotel in Kano which is fairly well maintained. I lodged here during a field visit and had few complaints.
