I was passing thru Kano from Yobe , going to Lagos . I had to go by road to Kano before taking a flight to Lagos because of the insecurity around Maiduguri road.
We stayed in Grand Central Hotel. Despite been an old hotel, it is well managed and maintained. The hotel is neat and well structured. The positioning is also.goid because commuting from the hotel to the airport was very easy. We went to town easily by boarding keke directly infront of the hotel.

It offers everything we needed and it was the best hotel place we lodged thru out the trip

Spent a weekend here and I must say that first of all, the staff and management of this hotel are cordial and warm. Always want to be sure the guests are ok.
Reservations are advised for weekends so you don't end up with a 'fully booked' situation. Bookings usually come bundled as bed and breakfast. The structure of the building is just lovely and you'd not hesitate to take out your phones. Don't worry, they are friendly. They'd allow photos as long as they aren't disturbing other guests.

Once you get in, the first thing that strikes you is the interior style. Never seen anything like it. It is fashioned like a library with real books of all sorts; fiction, educative, etc. There are chairs lined up where you can sit and read something. It's just lovely and phenomenal. The general restaurant operates till very very late at night in the even you are having a late night. Wheelchair accessibility is quite impressive though the elevator could be better if it had more room. It is just wide enough for straight in and out. Had a nice stay. It is quite central in town and easy to go places from there.

Beautiful hotel with nice architectural buildings. You may think you are in a library when at the lobby which is decorated with books from all works of life. Entering the hotel may make anyone feel the place is not secure but the feeling will he forgotten on entering the hotel. However, the hotel does not provide the best services. The front desk staff tries to be professional but the kitchen staff need basic training and the hotel needs to up their mode of operation. The kitchen also needs insect traps to keep flies away from the there and from food. There is a Chinese restaurant whish looms beautiful from outside and guess will serve good meal too. The hotel has a swimming pool and several halls for meetings and events. The rooms are basic and clean but needs renovation as some ceilings are falling down in some places. Old wares in the room also need to be replaced. There is internet service but not sure how good it is as I was never given a password to access it.

Grand Central Hotel, Kano, is arguably one of the most luxurious hotels within the Kano metropolis. It is, as it's name suggests, centrally located in the city. It is not cheap to be here, as far as the average Nigerian is concerned. It is, however, worth the money. Their beds are luscious and clean, there's power round the clock, the lift works well, bathrooms are arrayed with toiletries that include bathing soap, lotion, and tissue paper. The furniture within the rooms are top notch. Room service seems to take less time to take food orders and service same. I will recommend Grand Central Hotel to anyone who is in Kano and can afford room rates. You will get the needed quality time of rest and value for money. And as they say in the Hausa language, sannu da zuwa. Enjoy Kano and don't leave without seeing historically important sites within the city.

Big and historical but has a whole lot to improve on.
A lot of tress and flowers provide good shades and clean air.
Cool and quite.

The shower is more well lit than the rooms.
The meals, and variety of meals, are just manageable, nothing spectacular.
Wardrobes and cupboards could be repaired and more hangers provided.
WiFi didn t work despite trying it at different locations during my stay.
Mosquitoes should be controlled - Dan to many around there.
