Love the place sports an leisure respectful staff food good
All good and good quality food and service 1st class food was excellent but bit expensive , but hey u want to enjoy then its only once in a while u go but very enjoyable great deals too.
Daniel who was working on front desk is a rude, obnoxious **** who needs to be taught how to deal with customers. He was working on 1st July at 7pm... never again.
Called Celtic manor today as I wanted to book for Boxing Day lunch. Couldn't remember the name of the restaurant I wanted to book and instead of the lady who answered attempting to assist me to make a reservation, I had no guidance or detail whatsoever over the telephone to assist me hence I couldn't book! Not exactly five star service from a five star hotel! Very disappointing
Fabulous hotel and golf spa resort.. the staff can't do enough to help you. Great facilities, restaurant and bar.
It was amazing it has a amazing view and inside the hotel is great. When I went there I did Lazer tag archery golf and much more they where all great the staff their are really nice. I would recommend it.
Returning Customers..
We've stayed at this hotel numerous times now for special occasions and we've never been disappointed!
The bedrooms are very nice and spacious..
The staff are also friendly and accommodating..
There are several restaurants to choose from to enjoy your evening meal all offering different cuisines, but we tend to eat in the Olive Tree restaurant with our 2 young children.
This restaurant serves buffet style food with an extensive range of hot and cold dishes, including an array of cold desserts.
In the evening this hotel also offers live music in the bar, which can include jazz singers,a pianist or guitarists etc
A delicious buffet style breakfast is also served between 7.30am-10.30am in the Olive Tree Restaurant.
There's also a Golf course for paying guests and a Spa with relaxation suite and a Swimming Pool that can be used by all guests.
The place was stunning and the service was amazing but the ice rink had patches of water bt the golf was cheap and fun amazing stay
Made to feel very special, by everyone. Cannot wait to stay there again. The choice of restaurants and bars are unrivalled.... service service service, I can say no more.
We booked the Celtic Manor for a Valentine's weekend away. When we arrived we could not use the pool because it was full, there was a huge queue, that was not moving and no way we would be able to keep our toddler entertained whilst waiting.
Back in our room my wife ran a bath for our daughter before we went for dinner and the water was luke warm at best. There was no toilet roll holder in the bathroom, just a broken bracket on the wall.
We went for dinner as early as we could at 18:00, because of our young daughter. So when we arrived at the Rafters restaurant we were pretty much the only ones there. Despite it being quiet it is was 2 hours later by the time we got our deserts, by which time we were on borrowed time with our daughter. We ordered a glass of wine each and had to remind the staff about our drinks, which took at least 45 minutes to turn up! It was not even that busy.
I went to the bar at about 22:00, it took 20 minutes to get served and it felt more like I was at Butlins or a cattle market than a supposed 5 star hotel! With many of the people being really drunk and nowhere to sit, it was not a pleasant experience.
To top things off there were then young children running up and down the corridors screaming until gone 1 in the morning. So we did not sleep well.
There was a huge queue to check out and it felt like we were at a Travel Lodge. I complained to the staff who checked us out, who gave a half hearted apology.
The quality of the food was good and the staff were very nice and friendly. But that does not make up for everything else, which was way below par.
It was my third stay at the Celtic Manor, but this was the first time I have stayed there for about 8 years. The standards have definitely slipped and I am in no hurry to return! Very poor.
Enjoyed a fabulous spa day with some friends although booking it was an utter nightmare!
Have been here a few times.this time for work with my photobooth. You have to try it at least once. Great spectacle.
Beautiful resort room and facility was good 5star quality but reception service and restaurant staff service are below average , buffet restaurant and breakfast quality are below average for 5star quality resort hotel as will i can say that More
A Class Hotel Resort for the more upmarket trips out.
1st time here - Christmas gift - so much more than expected! Room, view, staff, immense choice of food, pool/spa area all fantastic - hotel seems to run like a well oiled machine. My hubby has mobility issues, staff particularly helpful. Would love to go back . Nothing to fault - even the weather was good.
Took my granddaughter to see Santa at the grotto. Worth noting that you can't order food from the cafe/reztaurant near the train centre piece unless you are a resident. However you can get food downstairs in the italian/pizza restaurant or some snacks at the skating rink bar. The grotto is very well done but most suitable for approx 7 year olds.
Best food in South Wales area. I just love going to Celtic Manor, you feel you are in a different world. I attended the Newport business club event at the manor house. The food was lasagna and veg lasagna and it tasted fresh and of good quality. The three desserts were to die for, mango cheesecake in particular, light and fruity. I don't normally like cheesecake so this says a lot. The event was well organised and the speaker very interesting.
Excellent! Big room, great food, beautiful indoor pools & awesome golf courses.
Over priced, run down, poor breakfast. Not value for money in any way
Staying at hunters lodge and loving it - food amazing and top golf courses. Couldn't find a fault if I tried!
My work had requested a vegan and gluten free plate of food for me at a corporate event. When it came to lunch, nothing had been prepared. When I was eventually given some thing, with only 5mins to eat it, it was some dry bread with just a More
The hotel was lovely and the staff exelent. However, the food left a lot to be desired.
Although a little dated these days the Celtic Manor is still a stunning Hotel. Went with my daughter for 2 nights last week as a treat for finishing Uni. Rooms are spacious & clean and the Spa & Gym facilities were perfect for us. Had More
The hotel is well presented and uses quality furnishings.... as for lunch, the lunch menu is poor, it reminded me of an average chain restaurant. As for quality this is where it really let itself down. I ordered a ceaser salad and it looked like chef swept things into a bowl and then went ....oh I forgot ceaser sauce and I dont have enough for one let alone two!!! Dissappointed!!
Awesome well catered for place ..great for golf and has probably one of the best run best conditioned courses in wales if not the uk..
Had a great time at the celtic all the luxuries one would expect and more
Loved our stay. We were in the manor house, which is a bit quieter. Only two little things, no little bars of soap and no water in rooms, but minor things x
Afternoon tea in the Olive tree with my husband. Wonderful food, service and atmosphere as usual. Would definitely recommend.
Amazing live music, exceptionally attentive staff. Spacious, attractive and clean room with a view across the high ropes course. Impressive decor and internal design throughout.
Impressive hotel, just like a small resort. Good large spa.
Very huge and nice resort. Excellent staff and service. Many dining options within the property. The convention center is big enough for hosting decent conference and very well maintained. It would have been a 5 star property except the rooms. Rooms are small and appears basic.
Staff were friendly and courteous, although they didn't seem the most organised between themselves at times and caused a bit of duplication. The food was good, however it wasn't good enough to make me want to go back again considering it's reputation.
Admittedly visited for a spa break in the Easter break but Celtic manor needs to emphasise they are a family hotel. I expect spa hotels to be tranquil and relaxing. The pool at Celtic manor was busier than my local leisure centre. Standing room only in the changing rooms. Parking charges are scandalous I really don t expect to pay to park in a hotel where I m staying. Whilst the surroundings are pleasant , the room was typical of most hotels. Staff were completely uninterested in my feedback . Nice view of a construction site , had trouble booking for a Saturday even though I purchased a voucher on cyber Monday and paid extra to get a Saturday night. In the end they could only accommodate us on a Friday. Had expected great things from the Celtic manor sadly was quite disappointed. Not an experience I d repeat or recommend.
The room was spacious and well appointed. The staff are very friendly and usually on point. The only negative was the heating wasnt working but we were moved to another suite straight away.
The facilities are excellent however I would recommend booking any treatments as it does get awfully busy.
Great rooms and service from the staff. Highly recommended.
Afternoon tea very disappointing. Not a summer berry in sight.
Having had 2 excellent and special afternoon teas in the past I had assured my friends that they were in for a treat. Bland sandwiches, a hard brown roll and as the summer menu does not end till 22nd sept and it boasts summer berries I thought we would see at least one strawberry.
No tablecloth and served in a very dark cold area of the restaurant. The delicacies were not as light and tempting as before.and not up to the standard received in the past.
We were given a small discount but such a very disappointing visit.
Ann and Chris Thomas
Great setting food was very good quality however for the price attention to detail for a five-star establishment not so good no bath robes in room and concierge gave us information that left us feeling embarsed
Wow wow wow what a super place can't recommend this place enough
We attended the wedding fayre at the Celtic manor and it was great. Full of great vendors and the staff were very helpful.
Went there for the day to the Christmas Village and had lots of fun in all the activities
Went to the winter wonderland and despite other negative reviews we enjoyed it.
It was a bit too expensive and could have been better but the kids loved it.
The Santa's were good (note plural, which was one negative as you could hear the others),elves cheerful and the christmas decorations and settings was pretty good.
Lobby and surrounding area was great and had a real wow factor but again let down with a cardiff bus doing the shuttle to the car park as opposed to land train.
Very grand hotel. Staff are friendly brekkie is fab
I don't write many reviews, however we arrived at 2.30 and was offered am upgrade.to which we accepted. We returned at 6pm to the reception to find our Balcony room with sun as originally accepted had been 're booked. We were upset but Phillipa, Zara and Gabby sorted it and we ended up with a fabulous room. Great touch and their inter personal skills and management of the situation was faultless ..... impeccable service and huge thanks for your help.
Dave Gould
Very impressive conference space and hotel.
Smart efficient staff
Expensive and posh. Like a maze, bring your map. Like a lot of hotels they like to think they have corporate events well caterred for, but a weedy projector screen and an old protector on a rickety table in the middle of a huge room is not good corporate presentation. Get serious and wow with some AV investment.
Beautiful place at this time of year. Drinks expensive and service charge on everything. It was a birthday treat from my husband and i loved it.
Been here many times still lovely don't bother with the 50 pound upgrade to new room waste of money
Beautiful expansive resort with a great golf course
Just take a look at the pictures before they remove have your own opinion on this Received very poor customer service.
The room was not up to standard. Mattress was disgusting smell of piss. Just check under the covers before you jump into bed you might have a fright. absolutely disgusting will not put the dog in there. Spoke to the manager he said unfortunately we cannot change room has all the rooms have sold out then he said we have rectified the problem what more can we do. Good service from the top five star hotel
First time staying here, beautiful location, beautiful rooms, lovely hotel, reception staff need to be trained how to book in properly... we stayed for one night as it was my partners work party that s where it goes wrong for me we was in the alpine eating area and it was like a free for all none of the waiting staff knew what they were doing it was a case of your get your food as of when they decide to bring it out did not do one table a time so everyone could eat at once, you was hanging around for veg and gravy and by then the meat had gone cold, was a let down....I ve given 3 stars for location and beautiful hotel
Beautiful hotel
Well managed
friendly staff
really good food
excellent for a wedding venue
with a high class golf course
Free parking for 3 hours, lift to the hotel, nobody gave us snotty looks like snobs
Stayed in the Manor. April 2018. Stunning hotel. Some of the restaurants were closed, which was odd as I was told the main hotel was fully booked up, so would presume the restaurants would be open. Manor Room had a few 'maintenance' issues, which I was not expecting from the calibre of hotel. Main door did not close smoothly, it was rather aggressive! Toilet would not stop running, unless the button was taken off the wall and reset (looks like this had been done previously due to the seal being broken). Hinge on the fridge broken.
Amazing place! Amazing staff! Fantastic charity golf event. Expensive but worth it as a treat
Absolutely amazing! Both staff and Spa facilities were outstanding. We can't wait to return
Not as good as it used to be and not worth the charges they charge
Lovely setting, made even more so in the sunshine with a good friend
Beautiful setting, have stayed in both Hotel & more recently in one of the "Hunters" Lodges for my Daughters Wedding.....Fabulous! Ideal place to hold the Wedding, the staff went out their way to make the Day so special.
First time I've been there my son was staying there and called a had a drink there. The whole hotel is really impressive. So impressed that I want to stay there
The best hotel by far. A jewel in the crown of Wales.
