Great atmosphere. I love the German influence, including some historical items from Grand Rapids. I had the Kartoffelschnitzel, which was really good and some of their brewery made soda pop.
Looking forward to bringing potential #BeerTours here with #ToursAroundMichigan.

First time..great service(AJ)had a bloody mary on the farm,an experience in it self and the briscut sandwich was sensational.I don't know craft beers, but they have lots and I understand they brew their own.Definitely a must try and do again place
Great food and fast service! Excellent selection of beers... not just the usual assortment of IPA that everyone else has to offer. Will come back again.
Food was good but service was POOR..... couldn't even get a refill of water ...waitress basically told me do it yourself ..there's a hose right there .... it will be awhile before I ever go back ...
This is our first time here. The food was good. But the server is what made the experience so awesome! Her personality, knowledge of the menu and her eagerness to please was something you rarely get anymore. She made our experience the best possible! We really enjoyed our time here because of her. Her name is Sara "Ariana Reese" if you come here request her! She's a ton of fun,
I love coming here and the food is good especially the flannel fries, but my problem is everytime i ear here i have horrible gut rot the next day, idk what they do to the food cuz it tastes so good but dont be suprised if you have to go to the bathroom alot etheir immediatly afterward or the next day
Every few months I get a craving for Eire, their dry Irish Stout, so we take a Sunday drive from Grand Rapids. I enjoy their PaprikaScnitzel and my husband usually gets a sandwich. We've had good service every visit, even with a 20+ top. Highly recommended!
What a class act between the friendly servers, clean airy (and NOT echo-ridden) atomsphere, and the delicious beer; I'm sure to be back. The pilsner was absolutely refreshing and the Modern Weissbier was perfect for a summer day.
Awesome. Love the pretzel, love the brisket, my wife loves the artichokes , and I love the beer - especially when they had the IPA, which last time the switched for a Pale Ale, but I heard they brought it back. Checking today to see if true :)
Have been a few times because its close. Food is hit and miss. Brussels are really good but other items are very bland. Also have had meat overcooked and dry twice now. The beer has been good.
Given filthy silverware with less than attentive service. Will return again though because the food and drink is fantastic. Hopefully this unfortunate visit was a one-off
I've been here a couple of times with my family and have nothing but great things to say. First of all, the Bavarian menu provides a nice change from typical brewpub menus. Although, they also have a traditional menu. I had the paprikaschnitzel and it was delicious! You must also try the brussel sprout appetizer! The staff was friendly and the food was great. What more could you ask for?
Helps bring cedar springs to life. German themed foods n drink. I am a bit bias because I live a mile from Founders. (PROBABLY THE BEST IN MICHIGAN) I think they have a Jeep night. They should probably add a bike night.
Overall, a good place to stop on your way north or just a night out if you live in the area.
The food is amazing! The staff are super sweet! I hate Brussels sprouts but omg they are so good here. I was impressed. Can't wait to go again my next visit home. The place is so neat inside too. Great job guys!
Went for dinner for the first time. It was a cool environment and we ate outside on the patio with heat lamps which made it comfortable as it was a little brisk. The food was ok, they had a great selection but the beer is on point. Would like to try it again soon.
Absolutely wonderful, Kusterer Pale Bock was really good. Had the Paprikaschnitzel for dinner and it was very good. My bartender, Jeff, was friendly, informative and attentive. Will be back again!!!
If you are vegetarian stay away from this place. Don't get me wrong the beer is good, but many of their claimed vegetarian options are not. Ordered the fries that were labeled to have a vegetarian option. After the fact was told everything is cooked in lard (not at all vegetarian). Had to run to the restroom and got sick because of a reaction. Disappointing that restaurants disregard a portion of their customers blatantly by mislabeling food. Hopefully they can fix their menu in this way in the future.
This has always been a pit-stop of mine when biking the White Pine Trail. I love the atmosphere and the beer. The food has always looked good, but I've never tried.
Worthwhile trip. Very good German style beers, in fun Bavarian atmosphere. Many food choices make this as much a family dining destination as Brew pub. Updated 5/9/20: Awesome takeout pulled pork or brisket!
A very pleasant gastro pub serving a wide variety of German-style beers. Nice variety of menu items, ranging from snacks to full dinners; highly recommended are the hot pretzels. Nice location in the center of town, and a lively place. Bring a sweater or jacket because it is aggressively air-conditioned.
Great food! The German feel of the place complimented by the food provides great atmosphere. The brewery provides food with a German twist, along with traditional German fare. After the closing of Scnitzelbank so many years ago, a place to find these foods is welcome and exciting. The beer ranges from german brews to more modern takes on craft beers. A great place to go anyday anytime of year.
The food and service were outstanding. Friendly staff made all of us feel at home. The beer is tasty and original. Plenty of good beers to choose from. All around great experience and we can't wait for our next visit. Prost!!!!!!
Treated rudely with poor service. Have to go to counter to order a drink or food. When we came in the door it said they closed at 12am, once we went to order they asked if we had a tab, we said no, They then proceeded to say we only had 15 minutes until they closed and they were too busy to tell us when we first walked in. If they saw us walk in they should know we don t have a tab. They also waited until 9:15 to call last call. If it we was so necessary we were out in 15 minutes last call should ve been at 8:45, not 9:15. They ended up charging us for a meal we didn t order and when they brought it out and we said we didn t order it, they tried to play it off like we could just have it. A worker was wearing her mask around her neck and guests were walking throughout the space with no mask on at all. There was no real effort in Covid preventions. Everything was completely serve yourself yet they still expect a tip. Don t recommend.
All of the pasta is made with dumpling pasta so it's much softer and mushier than regular pasta, just an FYI. I liked it but it's not something my picky 4y/o liked. their flannel fries were deep fried too long, they're so greasy and too crispy. But the brisket is delicious very moist even without any sauce
The food tasted very good and the service was excellent. My two lost stars was for the temperature. The food was cold, not as in not steaming hot but legitimately cold. And my steak was severely undercooked (though I actually didn't mind that as much). I am sure they had an off night and I will be back again sometime to try again. Also in their defense both the bartender and manager came by and asked me about my food but I didn't want to waste it by having them recook it.
So I went back since this review. Burnt sprouts, no hot sauce, of any brand. They are to pretentious to get out of their own way. Please waste your money here if you like, I wont
You question if I am reviewing the correct place, but you had steak as a special 4 monhs ago (or so) when I originally made this review. The fact I only am a few blocks away and you are the only brewery in Cedar Springs means I know for a fact I went to the correct place right across from the library. Don't try to taint my review by trying to pretend that I don't know what I am talking about.
I give three stars because when we sat down at the table we had to flag down someone to come wipe it down it still had crumbs from the customer before us. Then she only wiped 3/4 of the table. We a had already ordered our food or we would have left. With the covid going on they need to clean a little better. Hard to say if we will go back or not.
Oh those Germans, Best beer on the west of side of Germany, I mean Michigan. The food was exotic and made with love and tender care. The bloody Mary with the side car, a nice bonus beer was a life saver. Would recommend, went twice in three days. Bless the cedar springs brew next time you're in town.
