A quiet place to reflect and pray for sure. You can also walk about the cathedral looking at the different altarpieces, memorial plaques, etc. There's even a shop off the right side where you can check out and buy jewelry, statuettes, etc. You may also get to go to mass during the week in the chapel, or in the cathedral itself on Sundays. They also provide guided tours during the week, contact the cathedral for more info.

Disappointed that anyone would be kicked out of Gods house. Unless someone is disrupting by form of some sort chaos this should not happen. Cause some guy in a robe comes and sits inside front row should not matter

We went for Christmas concert on DEC 13 2015. The cathedral is very beautiful and the arch choir and orchestra sang nice Christmas songs. But organizational part was not good- People were sitting on pews facing the altar listening the whole concert from the back of the cathedral behind their backs. Only in the mid of the concert the boy and girl choir appeared at the altar to support main arch choir, which brought a lot of confusion to the crowd wondering which part they need to face standing and singing along Christmas carols. Nevertheless the music was beautiful, the orchestra and the choirs did a good job. Next year the program should be thought through to eliminate the confusions and be more interesting for the audience.

Absolutely stunning. Beautiful inside and out and sits next to the beautiful fountain on the Parkway. Small shop is open on Wednesdays. The ushers are extremely friendly and will take the time to tell you all you'd like to know about the Basilica. Not overly packed with tourists or sightseers during the day.

Wonderful experience! You can do a self guided tour or seek out one of the volunteers. Santos was exceptional in telling use the history and showing us some things that were not on the self guided tour. The building is nearly all white marble so it was a bit chilly inside. So many nationalities are represented here. The enormity of it all makes one feel quite small and humble. NO admission charge; come explore and pray in quiet solitude. Extraordinary!

I understand that reviewing a church is a rather odd thing. However I am a bit of a history buff and this is one of those have to stop in to see type places. I dont really care what religion or creed you come from, you still have to accept the architecture and beauty mixed with the history of this church.

As far as Catholic churches go, this one had an excellent sound system.

I sat 3 rows from the back, and I could hear everything clearly, with no distortion or echo.

The cathedral itself is beautiful and upkept well. The pastor of the service was excellent, and spoke in such a way that he was clearly understandable.

The organist and lector we're very talented and you can tell they have a relationship of collaboration.

This is a very gorgeous basilica, and if you were a traveller abroad, and you visited this place, one thing you could take away was the devotion and dedication of the congregants and guides there. The acoustics? Actually heavenly, due to the lack of stained glass windows. However, the windows they do have are perfectly placed. I cannot recommend this place enough to see.

The Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, t...

The Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, the main church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Philadelphia, is located on 18th Street and Benjamin Franklin Parkway, on the east side of Logan Square. It was built between 1846 and 1864, and was designed by Napoleon LeBrun, from the original plans of Reverend Mariano Muller and Reverend John B. Tornatore, with the Palladian dome and facade, designed by John Notman, added after 1850. The interior was widely decorated by Constantino Brumidi.
The cathedral is the largest Catholic church in Pennsylvania and was listed on the United States National Register of Historic Places in 1971. The cathedral was the site of two papal masses, one celebrated by Pope John Paul II in 1979, and the other by Pope Francisco in 2015.

I absolutely love this church. It's truly a master work of art. The high walls n the altar, the chapel everything is just so beautiful and looks so divine. The essence when you get inside the church itself makes it feel heavenly. The church is on my way to college and whenever I feel low and sad I try to go to this church and just sit there. It just feels so peaceful and calm.

I'm Jewish so I don't see churches much. My main basis for comparison are the Basillicas in Rome and NY.
While nowhere as big as both, or opulent as Rome, it still is an imposing structure.
The interior could use some work. But as a Philadelphian I am proud it's in my city.

The Cathedral Basilica of Saint Peter and Saint Paul is located just a few minutes walk from LOVE Park.

She is beautiful and imposing. When I visited, I was having a mass, so I could see how it is in English. The experience was very interesting.
