This is one of the great Cathedral Basilicas of the East Coast. Even if you're not a Catholic you will want to come in and quietly take in the great work of mid 19th c. craftsmen and artists. It took almost 20 years to build. They don't build them like this any more.
Pope Frances celebrated Mass here in September 2015.
We were here for an evening High Latin Mass and then stayed right across the street at the Hilton.
All Are Welcome in This Place

I like it for the value of finding peace in a rather hectic and bustling city. I'm not nearly as religious as I once was, but to sit inside of this gorgeously built cathedral from 1860 and feel better than when I did at arrival; it's worth it. Mass schedules should be attached to the Google search.

Very peaceful place to visit. The artwork and ambiance are very nice. Entry is free and open during the day. I would spend a good amount of time to explore the place and see what it has to offer.

A beautiful cathedral on the parkway. It's generally open and you can visit to see the architecture and artwork while remaining quiet and respectful. I'd highly recommend stopping in quickly to see it if you're in the area.

Called to see if they had any ideas about helping some local elderly be able to get to Mass during the week. They were absolutely no help, and just uninterested. This is why people are moving away from the church. This church had a homily only a few weeks ago matthew 5:42. I guess they don't practice what they preach. I will find another church and my weekly tithing will go with me.

One of the most beautiful basilicas with beautiful stained glass, large sculptures, and amazing architecture. The outside is deceivingly plain but the inside is something that stirs the soul. A must see for those who visits churches or for anyone!

Beautiful Basilica in downtown Philly. The entire interior is breathtaking. I went to Mass here which was very prayerful and beautiful. There is not too much traffic or noise, so you can really go to this church to find silence and solitude with God. Churches are supposed to be beautiful sacred spaces like this one.

On the stretch of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Center City (The Downtown District). Nice welcoming church. When it's cold out come inside for a warm prayer and/or for a mass service. And also when it's hot out come inside for a cool prayer and/or for mass service. They use to have a really nice Bishop, Charles Joseph Chaput OFMCap. He was really cool. Now they have a new Bishop Nelson Jesus Perez.
People there are welcoming at this Parish.

Beautiful Basilica. Celebrated Mass on Sunday morning at 11am and then listened to a free 45 minute tour with history about the building and Philadelphia Diocese. The artistic craftsmen who built this building, windows, murals, and alters are amazing.

If you're Catholic and haven't been to Mass in a while, you'll want to go after a visit. This place is beautiful, peaceful, and inspiring. The guide will offer a tour or let you do a self-tour. It's also nice and quiet so that you can have a moment of reflection.

I was here for a wedding and it was the most beautiful U.S. church I have ever been in. The architecture and craftsmanship rival churches and basilica in Europe. The building is large and can easily fit a few thousand people. I highly recommend visiting even if you aren't religious.

The cathedral is gorgeous inside and out. The audio/ visual equipment is great. But there is no parking available. There is metered parking, but most are not available, even on a Saturday! And the area it's located in is full of one way streets, making it had to access. If you miss a turn, you'll water au least 10 minutes trong you get back on track.
