Be careful beginners when you try the green zone in Castle mountain. It is actually a blue zone!!! Nominal green zone to me. It was extremely dangerous for us to come down from the hill. My friends and I went to Castle mountain resort for skiing. We had plan to use only green zone since we all are beginners. The only place that we could confidently practice our skills was green zone close by the magic carpet where most of the children could go over. I have two years of skiing skills and tried the green zone where the lift takes you to the top of the mountain. I would say after getting out of the lift the left side is absolutely Blue but the right side is a mix of blue and green. So, I tried the right side which the first half of the way and its most important part was extremely difficult to manage. However, the second half of that was pretty OK to slide over. Therefore, we decided to stick to the green zone close by the magic carpet. It was of course a day full of joy getting on the top of the magic carpet and go over and over although it was boring to use that short distance for our practice. As soon as you wanted to take the first and second turn you were down the hill and you had to go the top of the magic carpet again. I would say that would be nice if we could have more space like really green green zone that we could practice our skills. Thankfully neither me nor any of my friends were hurt today. We all are safe, sound and delightful that we did skiing in the first day of Jan 2019.

Didn't like any of the runs off of the blue chair, but if you take the red chair up there are some amazing runs. We had untouched knee deep powder in the upper bowls. They really should put some more work into maintaining and improving the mountain though. They haven't put any snow fences up causing most of the snow to blow right off certain areas resulting in incredibly rocky areas.

It's a decent resort. There's no cell service. We used walkie talkies. There is wifi. They have a separate ticket fee if you only want to use the huckleberry chair, it's about half price. They have some microwaves and a few lunch tables in the lower floor of the lodge. Fantastic. My only complaint that there is no map at the top of either chairlift and signage is genally lacking. Not a problem for experts who can handle any terrain. I found myself escaping from siwash to high noon and oh my god, the most terrifying minute of my life. Some single black diamonds on this hill would definitely classify as double-blacks on other resorts. Same goes for some green and blue zones. I would say, they don't particularly expect beginners there, had some fast near misses from speedsters behind me because i did a few unexpected turns. Still, beautiful scenery and backcountry, old school feel. Lots of tree runs. Though it was raining Saturday I still had a great weekend. I would come back for sure, especially on a powder day.

Beautiful mountain, good runs, but don't go after a week long chinook! Wayyy too icy..however, the people are amazing ...the lady at the bottom of the lift gives you a hug as you go up...that's when you know the runs hard...haha

A good hill to go on for a day. The inside areas are as clean as you would expect. The rentals are very well maintained and a nice fitting area. Food is pretty good although pricey (like every ski resort). The hills were well maintained and marked. Everything was a good experience. I gave it 4 because they the front admission didn't give me my proper lift ticket with a corporate pass, just left me with my receipt stub. This confused the lift ticket attendant (as myself) as why they didn't give me a lift ticket and just the receipt stub. It did scan, but was very inconvenient to have this stub in my pocket and take it out everytime to use the lift. Other than that a fine experience.

A good little ski hill with a surprising amount of runs for only 3 chairlifts (not including the bunny hill.) Its great for the price and way less busy then fernie or banff. But watch out for rocks! We haven't had enough snow this year. Thank God for fake snow.

Had a wonderful day skiing at Castle Mountain. We loved the low key environment, very chill and relaxed unlike many of the other ski places in Alberta. No line ups (visited on a weekday), and a delicious poutine and beer at the lodge! Staff scanning your pass at the lifts were all so friendly!

Every other ski hill I ve been too is very accommodating to keeping their guest warm and allowing them to bring stuff from home to do so. But not castle. Basically if you can t afford to eat at castle you re not allowed to stay warm as they will not let you warm up inside or heat your food up inside. I understand you ve got to be cautious of corona but at this point it s just a money grab not about keeping their customers warm and happy.

Absolutely great up until the red chair stopped working half way thru the day... conditions great. Huge mountain but desperately need one new express chair. Mountain is spectacular though. So much terrain... no whistler but terrain competes with Revelstoke for challenge and half the size of Fernie but just as good perhaps. Express lifts would move it to 5 star especially for price paid...

Great mountain. Lots of terrain and snow! The Huckleberry chair is great for beginners and intermediate :)

very awesome ski hill, limited places for accommodation, very little to no parking, very crowded, washrooms available, social distancing in effect, sanitizer available, a few places to snack, lessons, passes are reasonably priced, breathtaking views, bunny hill for toddlers, chair lift, trails are very challenging and many black diamond runs, such a beautiful hidden adventure that offers great skiing/boarding, trails for cross country skiing and snowshoeing,

Despite Great effort (and success) to make it a family friendly mountain, the truth is its still a "skiers/riders mountain" where the top end snow sports enthusiast (what we used to call the "expert skier") will get the best experience for the money spent. Most people have to pay for a heli adventure to get the experience Castle offers off a lift!

A hidden gem! Great runs for all levels. Snow conditions were awesome. This was my first time at this resort and amazed to see the ski in-ski out lodge around this area. Next time, staying for sure! Make sure to plan ahead as they sell out easily. Great Blue runs for people transitioning. Best part of the resort - STAFF!! Super friendly..everytime I boarded the chairlift, they greeted me and kept supporting my spirit! Double thumbs up for the support specially for a newbee, I was clearly motivated and had my best snowboard trip so far this season!

One of the best ski resorts I have been to. Awesome terrain when they get some snow. Reasonable ticket prices. Usually the lift line waits are very short (5 minutes or less). There's something for everyone at Castle, groomers, steeps, glades, you name it!

Went here a week ago & it ROCKED! Everyone wore masks which made it safe & tbh (to be honest) a little warmer too. Always a blast at Castle. The only sad thing was the burger made me sick the same night, make sure the meat is cooked!

Great ski resort. As we were waiting in line on a busy day to ski the owner (or a manager not sure) was handing out maps and chatting with people about the best places to ski on the hill that day and making sure everyone knew where they were going. For my first time at this resort it was nice to not get lost in the fray as you would at some other hills. I would come back in a heartbeat! Only downside I can see is the lower amount of lifts and runs and further drive from Calgary but the snow and scenery are a big win!

Great Hill, Awesome service. My son had 2 leftover passes from last year that he couldn't use because they shut down early due to snow issues. Called today and they will honor them this year!! I'm pretty sure they are not legally obligated but they made a 13 year old boy happy!! Incredible snow and terrain too!!

Nice place to learn to ski. Especially for beginner skiers. Kids under 5 is free which worked out very well for us. And bunny hill although short but good gradient for beginners.bunny hill was CAD$19, which is a really good price. Food price was much better than other ski resorts. For example we paid CAD$6 for a cold cut sandwich. Warm food such as chilli and soup was CAD$10. Overall good tasting food at better price than other ski hills. The only thing that I did not like was that if you want warm food the queuing up time was anywhere from 30mins to 1 hour. There were any microwave ovens to warm up food. Lodge had limited siting area during lunch time. Not different than any other ski resort.

During our stay we had excellent snowfall, and the mountain itself is well maintained. The primary downfall with Castle Mountain resort is the lack of any quality in all of their amenities. The pub/restaurant is tiny, and the service there is inexcusably horrible. We sat down and were attended to one time only in a 2 hour span. Additionally, the rooms for staying are sold to customers under false pretenses. The room we were in was sold as "sleeps 6" (the Timber Rock), but in reality, 2 of those 6 are supposed to sleep on a pull out couch; while not a deal breaker, the pull out couch they have is easily some of the worse sleep I've ever had in my life. The mattress was paper thin, and we slept with a cross-bar digging into our backs the entire night. You're better off sleeping on the floor. Again, inexcusable. There are other things that will start to grind your gears once you've amassed this list of qualms in your own head: snow removal is non-existent. We were snowed in, and over 48 hours the road in our area was never plowed, and we got stuck trying to drive a downhill drive way with 4x4. If you're desperate for a cheap hill to ride on, check this place out, as the mountain is adequate, but everything else is inexcusably horrible.

No frills, hostel/hotel. Kind of serve yourself attitude, which in the summer, when you want to get away and just lay in bed or go for a nice walk, it's just right. However, the pub is terrible for food, and there is nothing else there so pack meals :) or go into Beaver Mines general store for some amazing ice cream, liquor, frozen local meats and trinkets. Also I don't know what the skiing is like bit I heard it's fierce. Beautiful wedding spot FYI.

Ski resort was great the hill and snow is in great condition and they received lots of snow this season. Not so busy and a smaller hill which is nice. The bar at the bottom is not great took them an hour and a half for nachos and pizza and the waitress gave us lots of attitude when we asked when our food was coming. Other then that great day !

We want to recognize the great customer service with Saturday's Huck chair operator and Alpenland pro shop. My wife lost some binding hardware at the bottom of the lift while loading. The operator stopped the lift, grabbed the fallen parts and recommended we see the pro shop. Aplenland fixed the binding, no charge and were very friendly and helpful. We were back on the hill in 10 minutes! We also want to give a shoutout to Kegan working the terrain park, professional, helpful and friendly!
