Had an awesome time here at a friend's condo doing some fall dirt biking. Hope to get to try skiing Castle Mountain one day as well.

So far the best place that I've gone boarding and it's affordable unlike most good places. No long line ups for the lift.
A great day for us. Having grown up on a small Alberta ski hill I have no problems with the lifts at Castle. Very family friendly resort and the staff were upbeat and positive. The terrain is stellar. We will be heading back next Monday
Epic low key old school ski hill. Amazing terrain. I'd love to hang out here for a month or two!!!
Excellent relaxed ski hill with a great variety of terrain from steeps and chutes to trees abound. Friendly and helpful staff.
Great hill, amazing terrain. The lifts are pretty old but the weather in that area always gets the largest amount of snow.
The chairlifts desperately work, but I'm not here to sit down!!
First off, the drive in to Castle from Pincher Creek is the most gorgeous entrance on the Alberta side of the Canadian Rockies that I've driven. Now, get that out of the way, and get to Castle.
From the parking lot, you're surrounded by mountains on all sides, which meant no cell reception. 5 stars for that, because we should be spending more time enjoying our surroundings, and less looking at Facebook. Staff were wonderful from the ticket window, to the repair shop, to the lifts; some of the lift operators give you hugs before you go up, which just makes Castle a feel good place.
The Huckleberry chair is not too long, and takes you to a smaller set of runs, perfect for warming up, or for those who aren't comfortable on steep sections of the main mountain. However, don't be fooled, they're plenty long for the casual skier/snowboarder, and plenty of fun.
Main Mountain was wonderful, lots of options for several experience levels, and lots of good powder found even on the sides of the groomed runs, which made the day very enjoyable.
The repair shop staff were probably the best of the day, and that says a lot! They had my wife's skis tuned and waxed in about 30 minutes, and she was much more comfortable on the mountain afterward.
The food at the pub was excellent among all 4 of our plates. Service was a little on the slow side, but the pub was full, and there were only two servers working. Food quality and friendly staff made up for it.
All in all, Castle is on my short list for a return trip, we had a wonderful, wonderful time.
We went in the summer and nothing open except the hostel.
This place is amazing there's great powder and the terrain park is amazing with several jumps and rails that are great for both beginners and intermediate boarders and skiers hope that I get a chance to come back this season again
This place is bombdigity. No crowds, good terrain, cool people.
Amazing can't get enuff never will great staff and free hugs at the main lift it's awesome
Great hill, fun staff, and a good little pub for lunch.
Fantastic place but boy their green zone was pretty intense for complete beginners like me and the 2 others I was with. I wish they had a space to get the basics like powderkeg has. Otherwise a beautiful place to go!
Positive, encouraging staff. Would be helpful to have a railing on the right side of the Huckleberry chair to prevent chair issue delays...
An excellent resort to enjoy as a family.
Great place to ski or just wind down and enjoy the scenery. Locals are super friendly
Pretty good hill, if the conditions are right. Got lots of good tree runs though not much of a terrain park if that's what you're into. There is next to no cell service here as well so maybe pack some good old fashioned walkie-talkies to communicate with your group or get help if needed. We went during Covid restrictions and did not really check out any of the services such as food vendors or bars so I cannot comment here.
great day on the mountain. love it when there's fresh powder
Lots of terrain, great staff in the lodge and at the the T-Bar, but also on the lifts. On a powder weekday you'll have no trouble finding fresh tracks, but stay on the main designated runs as there are some rocks lurking off to the edges. This is all full-line skiing and boarding, so easy on the legs.
This mountain is really hit or miss. Can have lots of great snow on black diamond runs or be windswept and crusty. We got a mix of both last time we were there. Add to that some rain and you have some interesting skiing conditions. The lifts to the top are old and prone to break down but that's almost part of the charm.
A hidden gem in the Rockies! Castle offers so much variety of terrain. Always a good time here.
Great place to ride! Great terrain and friendly people.
Rented AirBnB fabulous. Peaceful can't say enough about it. This was in the summer so I don't know how the skiing experience is .
I went on opening day and it was very sparse. The only time I went inside was to use the washrooms.
Runs were a little crusty which is expected this time of year but I was surprised at the coverage. A great day with nice weather. The lifties are always friendly.
Amazing runs for all skiing levels.. A hidden gem worth checking out
Slow lifts, no challenging runs. Cant compare to fernie.
First time I ever skied here was last sunday (Mar 5, 2017). My friend and I had just driven back to Alberta from Jackson Hole Wyoming, which was extremely disappointing.
This resort is the bomb! The liftys and ski patrol are super chill and the snow was insane! Only 2 lifts to the top so there's lots of mountain for everyone. We were finding fresh tracks all day. I will definitely be coming back
My daughter learned how to snowboard ot here. Thanks to the great teachers
Laid back atmosphere, great on a pow day. Lifts could use an update imo, high speed quads wouldn't be a bad idea for the blue/huckleberry chairs, but otherwise a great place to ride.
Absolutely beautiful and calming. Always love to visit!
Best resort in Alberta. just skied some of the deepest powder of my life this weekend. Thanks to Wendy, Dave and staff for making it happen.
Amazing mountain even better price than any big mountain.
Excellent day at the Castle. All the North bowl runs were epic!!
Would love to give 5 stars but have to admit not having some of the newer flashier things cost it (high speed chairs etc.). That being said they aren't charging the same as the main stream hills and the lines are shorter.
Runs are great, every person we met was fantastic and the beers afterwards were tasty.
#powpow
Great day on the huckleberry chair. Good powder, warm and groomed runs.
Our stay was amazing. Would totally recommend this resort for big groups, especially family groups. The place is so nice in the morning. The mountain view is wonderful. The unit was big enough and spacious for us. We didn't feel too tight for each other. It was super clean and the washrooms are great!! Everything was clean and tidy. Would 100% recommend!! I want to go back there again!
Always a great day. The crowds (or lack of) were perfect for COVID skiing.
Lifts from the 70's but the bottomless snow makes up for it. Awesome place!
Castle Mountain is such a small intimate local type of ski hill. On of the main chair scanning ladies gives everyone a hug on their way up. Great community at this resort with some pretty good terrain too. Basically everything off the top of the red chair is steep. Fun mountain.
Castle mountain is a lovely ski/snowboard resort that can be fun and challenging for all ages an levels. This place is a wonderful place to go on weekends. If your a beginner skier or snowboarder, you can choose to learn from a professional using the castle mountain Snow School program.
Awesome ski hill. Amazing terrain. Well priced meals at the pub and the lodge.
The best mountain you've never been to. Just don't tell too many people :)
They have no cell reception and I hope they never get it. The T-bar is probably the best on hill pub I've been to. And the on hill accommodations are excellent.
Dude!
Went there to ride first thing on a Friday morning and we literally just met one couple during the whole day. Note that the snow wasnt the greatest though
The little bar at the bottom is full of opportunities to create drunken regrats you will most likely not remember
Blackouts are normal right?
This place was stunning. I love the place and I love the view from the mountains specially wen you on top of the hill. It's worth every trip. Always pleased coming here
I was here for the Huckleberry Festival, it was quite smoky but the sun was shining so it was a nice few days. Was a vendor so I didn't pick berries but the entertainment was lovely.
Workers went above and beyond to help my little ones have a great first experience skiing.
Nice mountain for snowboarding, well kept, and pleasant staff.
Love this hill, staff are pretty good.
Chairs are not as fast as some of the bigger hills but this hill is so worth it
My favorite place to go snowboarding, i love the environment and the people that works there were amazing
Quite a steep mountain! Definitely a place to challenge one's self if you're an intermediate like me. Went on a Friday and wait times were minimal for lifts. It gets very windy at the summit and visibility can become almost zero, but I wouldn't say it's like that all day. Had a great full day on the mountain. I will be returning in the future.
Great little hill with old school vibes and some big mountain terrain. Worth checking out for sure
This ski hill is great, especially great for families and beginners. You can pay for tickers for a chair that accesses green runs or a chair that accesses green and blue before you pay full price for an entire mountain. The ski lodge food was great, expect normal ski hill prices though.
We will be back!
I came here in a school trip and we were welcomed with warm smiles and the training instructors were very polite
Great fun for the whole family. The kids really enjoyed the green chair and the carpet area. I enjoyed the Huckleberry runs. Thanks for the amazing time.
Small lineups and great skiing, but the push for development is damaging this ecologically sensitive area.
We did a hike in this are. I enjoyed the beautiful view
I grew up on this hill as a kid. Fond memories. Can only blame Mother Nature for conditions, which were sub par with a lot of rocky spots and ice. Unfortunate for late January. Four stars because despite my companion having her own boots and poles, us arriving at the hill at about 9:15 am, we waited in line outside for well over an hour to get rental skis and didn t ride our first chair up until 11 am. I get Covid has changed things and social distancing methods are in place, but Alpenland/Castle should implement a better system and efficiency for getting people on the hill sooner to get their monies worth in the meantime. Especially considering outdoor sports like downhill skiing are one of the few allowed organized recreational activities in Alberta during lockdown.
Never been to this mountian but cant wait. Excited for the upcoming season 2018-2019
Great friendly resort with cosey vibes and awesome terrain.
Castle Mountain is one of my favorite ski resorts, in that it has an old-time ski resort feel, where the commercial build-out of other resorts (Fernie, Kimberly, etc.) hasn't occurred.
The lifts provide access to excellent terrain, and powder days at this resort are incredible. High winds are the only issue here, which can sometimes affect chair lift operations and result in closures. The T-Bar pub is an excellent place to wind down after a day of skiing, with good food and a solid collection of beers.
