Been here just about a year and I have to say is I'm happy, my dm gives me all the miles that I want. I do wish the trucks were faster and a couple small problems here and there. But other than that I'm glad to be part of the carter family.

its a good starter company for someone who wants there CDL LICENSE. but as for long term retirement plan NO IT'S NOT..I had a awesome time working for them 14 years. then I hit my 14 and they let me go do to pay. there way of thinking is they can pay 30 cents a mile compared to 38 cents per mile. so they will let you go..and they do have there favorite drivers.. other than that say go for it as a first time driver/ starter company..

It s a great company, and we had been partners with them for almost over a year, and it was great, would definitely recommend them. Eric Bateman, is our representative, and he always gives his best to keep us busy.

Great company to work for as a driver! They go put of their way to take care of their drivers, very family oriented. The equipment is great, the maintenance is top notch, dispatchers and driver managers are polite and will help you out as much as possible.

Hi my is Claude Ridley Jr. I worked for Carter Exp...

Hi my is Claude Ridley Jr. I worked for Carter Express for nearly ten years. I ended up getting fired on June 17, 2018 because I filed for worker's comp. benefits in Knoxville, TN with the Bureau of Workers Compensation on June 18, 2018. Carter Express fires me while I'm out on FMLA because of the accident I had at work on 2/2/2018. They don't even put the letter to terminate my employment until about a week after me filing for workers comp. benefits. My primary care doctor Dr. Dillard had to call my boss Vick Riley who is the OTR manager at the terminal in Andersonville, TN back in March and told her that she does not feel that it's safe for me or the population to begin driving. But Vicki Riley and Carter Express still make me go on FMLA for the work accident I had on 2/2/2018. It's not really safe for people to be driving a 80,000 pounds semi truck while having white matter strokes but Carter Express has nearly always treated everybody that got hurt at work for them the same way. Which I didn't realize that until it was too late for me and I should've realized that before because around five years ago my car was parked at the cross dock at Carter Express and a truck driver their hit my car with a semi truck will backing out. When I got back that day I noticed the damage. Which you couldn't miss with the drivers side window shattered and a big dent in the door. So I had to myself figure out who hit my car because nobody reported it. So I stood outside and looked at all of the Carter Express trucks coming in and out and the ones at the yard their also. I finally come across the truck that hit my car. The reason I could confirm that was the truck which hit my car was because all the marks lined up from my vehicle to the marks on the semi truck. Even after I found out who was responsible Carter Express denied to claim the accident on their insurance. I had to pay the deductible and it took nerely a year to get payed back. Carter Express claimed the accident happened on private property and that they shouldn't be responsible. The reason I told this story is just another experience I've had with them. The owner of Carter Express John Paul is a ruthless man. The only thing he cares about is himself and no one else. Carter Express has Nova Medical in Knoxville, TN to release me in March. Dr. Jack King lies and says that Optimus Physical Therapy in Jefferson City, TN released me but they never did. Carter Express has Derinda Upton who works as their work comp. case manager to call Optimus and tell them that I wouldn't be coming back for physical therapy. Dr. Jack King puts in his medical records that I was released by Optimus which is a total lie because in Optimus's medical records it says that Derinda Upton requested me to be released from physical therapy. Which John Paul even fired this one woman that worked their because she couldn't get her cdl renewed because she had a accident at work where she went off an overpass and broke her ankle and was put on medication that prevented her from driving a truck at the time. Which now she's back to work but not driving a truck until she gets better because of me mentioning that incident to OCR. Back in March when Carter Express has Nova Medical to release me back to full duty they all knew everything about my medical conditons but chose to do nothing. Carter Express and Nova Medical could've prevented me from having the acute heart attack on 2/11/2018 and all the white matter strokes but they chose to risk my life and save money. On 2/7/2018 I started going to Nova Medical because Carter Express wouldn't allow me to go anywhere else like they are suppose to do and give you a list of doctors to chose from. They do so because they knew about my medical conditions because they had my medical records from the ER visit on 2/2/2018 that mentions the occipital hematoma, impression in my skull, brain injury, TBI with lose of consciousness, neck and back pain injury, etc. Which even on 2/2/2018 I should've been admitted but I wasn't because it was work related. Sincerely, Claude Ridley Jr.

What stellar experiences were had are unfortunatel...

What stellar experiences were had are unfortunately lacking these days as many who have worked for this company for over five years have either been fired for unjust reasons or because they found something better. Most people that are employed there now aside from first shift are those just fresh from the interview and will unfortunately be thrown into the sharks because this company cares not for their employees, so much as appeasing their uncooperative and abusive business contacts in order to keep contracts and make new ones.

Make no mistake, the paycheck is very sustainable but only if you are willing to completely surrender yourself to their asinine methods. They don't hold to their own policies and rules are easily bent when it concerns a favorite employee. Racism is abundant here, indirect and direct, and though I've taken it to supervisors multiple times it is mostly brushed aside. If you're a woman, look for something else, because this company behaves very much like they're incapable of getting away from the 1970's.

You will put thousands of hours into this job. Change your schedule multiple times. Take multiple, very expensive accounts without receiving much or any training but receive heavy punishment when errors are made. Work overtime with little appreciation. Be overlooked in favor of your piers on first shift but dumped with cleaning up after their messes. Deal with abusive executives and high brow contacts without Carter Express defending you.

While the people I've worked with on my own shift were a treasure, it wasn't enough for me to feel truly sorry for losing this job. Especially when I've encountered abuse with a contact of ours for many months and yet was thrown aside so that they wouldn't lose more business, rather than defend their employees that they so desperately need.

TLDR: Consider this a stepping stone. Training, if you will, and aim for something better. There's a reason why most of the employees are barely a year into the job with a horrid turnover rate.

Good place to work as a company driver. I bought a truck from them and was under the assumption the title would be mine, but two weeks after i paid the truck off i asked for the title and they said that i could not work for them if i wanted the title. I no longer work there but they took care of me, if i had any problems i could call and they would be resolved quickly. Well maintained equipment, great maintenance crew. They had my truck in and out and know what they're doing. As an owner operator i was making about what a company driver makes, minus the health care and 401k.

I worked for the company for almost one year and when I had to go to the hospital and found out I had type 2diabetes they fired me in February of this year. Trying to file for unemployment they said that I quit. This company will lie & cheat to get you to sign on then dump you when they don't won't to be liable for you if something happens. Routes change ever month. They are losing routes. Stay away from this company.
