Worst experience of my life. Went in with double pneumonia. The nurses assistant were the worst. Had to ask for my bed
Potty to be empty, my lunch sat there for 2 days . The nurse s sat outside my room and slept . Talked on there phone and facetimed with family. I woke up choking one night and the yelled at me to drink water. Never even came in the room . I will never refer any one to this hospital. Upon being released from the hospital they rolled me downstairs and left me . Never helped me into the car. Told me have a good day an walked off.

Amazing facility, I have been to a lot of hospitals with my mother, but this one is by far the cleanest, and with spacious and thoughtfully designed spaces. Previous hospitals required the shuffling of my mothers possessions to maneuver through cramped rooms. The room she received here is the size of a small hotel room, with quality finishes.

The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. My mothers surgeon , Dr. Otero, along with his team, did an amazing job with my mothers orthopedic surgery, one that was complicated to say the least.

Dr. Otero offered us cautious optimism, never promising the best case scenario, but clearly explaining all possible outcomes. Match that with an empathic and confident delivery, and you get hope where most other doctors offered us fear and gloom.

The biggest compliment I can give is the condition that I met my mother in after recovery. Her previous surgeries broke my heart, with her barely lucid and screaming/crying in agony and pain, the only thing she would talk about for days. With this surgery, she came out with manageable pain but smiling and easily forgetting it once she was in conversation or had a meal in front of her.

It s obvious that the entire team listened thoroughly to my mothers past experiences and performed the surgery with care. I highly recommend and thank the people at Atrium Health!

Let me just start off by saying, the staff was very nice and understanding. I took my mom in to be detoxed and to get help for her ongoing alcohol problem of 10+ years. This place was suggested strongly by our insurance company. After 4-5 hours, they discharged her. They said they didn't have any open beds, after letting her sober up. My mom finally admitted she needed help and this place doesn't have anything in store for those with alcohol problems when they don't have an open bed. I know this isn't the fault of anyone who works here.. but whoever is in charge most defiantly needs to figure out a solution. Considering this is a place where people with alcohol (and drug) problems frequently go to receive help, I was very disappointed that they did not try to find her help outside of the facility. I was told there is no psychiatric unit, or therapists on site which disgusts me! Are people that struggle with suicidal thoughts or even try to commit suicide just discharged after the current problem is solved?! They need to come up with a better system to support the people that come in with life threatening issues outside of car accidents, falling off a ladder, common illnesses, and so on! Thank God we were able to find her a bed elsewhere in a little over 24 hours.. that's enough time for someone looking for help to change their mind! (which she did) Oh, and I'd also like to point out that they put my mother in the hallway and we were forced to either sit at the head of the bed or not sit with her at all. We need to make a difference and help this world change to support our people that struggle with addiction, especially if you are going to have a hospital based on helping people with addiction. We could have taken her to our local hospital and received on site therapy and psychiatry, but took her here because we were not told on the phone that they had no beds open! The hospital near where we live also would have found her placement ELSEWHERE instead of simply discharging her! STOP LETTING PEOPLE DIE AND KILL THEMSELVES AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! PUT SOMETHING IN PLACE TO HELP THESE PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ADVERTISE THAT YOU SPECIALIZE IN THAT! I would personally like to thank the nurses that did speak to me, and told me how much of a great job I was doing dealing with all of this. I give the staff that I encountered a full 5 stars, but as for the doctor that wouldn't even speak to me, and spoke to my mom ONE time when they weren't even that busy, I give you 1 star. You chose to be a doctor, now do your job and SAVE LIVES... if that's not your goal here, then you shouldn't be a doctor. In my opinion, the nurses who work here should transfer somewhere else where their amazing intuition will be recognized and used! VERY DISAPPOINTED IN OUR VISIT AND WILL NOT BE BACK!

UPDATE:
1 year later I am devastated because CMC Mercy didn't help my mom when we came in. In March 2018 my mother, only 47 years old, passed away due to her addiction. If CMC Mercy would have had a bed open or transferred her to the proper place, my mother would still be here. I'm 20 and my brother is 24 and now we have to continue our lives without our mother who once seeked help here.

Atrium will charge you 5 times for the same procedure as Carolina Neurosurgery and Spine in their office. The Dr. that did the injection submitted a bill for doing the injection of $1900.00 to insurance and then they submitted a bill for $4253.00 for the Surgery room which is in the office, the medicine, and recovery room.

The most CNS charged was $1600.00 in total and they did it in their surgery center in their office in Ballantyne. No separate Dr. charge, no separate surgery room charge. This is why our insurance premiums are so high.

This hospital staff will give you their butts to kiss and have so much attitude especially kitchen staff. Hospitality is lacking big time . There are very few staff members in various departments that are actually kind & doing their job correctly .

Excellent service from the staff at Mercy Hospital. Ms. Jackie, Ms. Vee, Ms.Yvonne, Justin all from the 4th floor were absolutely great! Ms.Jackie was always attentive and pleasant. If I needed anything she would immediately get on it! Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The staff in the dialysis unit were also amazing! Made me feel right at home and always made sure I was comfortable and well taken care of. Thank you for all you all did for me to care for me and help me feel better after my surgery!

I went to this hospital (MERCY)on the 9th of October 2019 because of wheezing due to Asthma and bronchitis!! I usually go to Presbyterian Hospital I thought they were better, nope. They would give me a breathing treatment and send me home. Not Mercy they admitted me the same night because the wheezing would not stop! They really cared about me!!! They would not release me until I was better! I feel alive in health and spirit because of the Staff at this hospital God I Tusk you!!!!

Atrium's policy is to beat up your children and then allow the local police to continue to beat up your children. You really should go somewhere else that cares about patient safety. As it shows, Atrium clearly doesn't. Maureen Swick, executive for Atrium, believes choke-holding a teen standing behind his mother waiting, to be perfectly normal and well-trained behavior for her staff of security.

I had surgery at Mercy this week. I was a little worried about going there because of some of the reviews. I had the best experience from checking in, all the nursing staff, dr and anesthesiologists nurses. They couldn t have gone out of their way more to make me as comfortable as possible.

I went there with a stomach problems and I felt worser after I got a i.v and meds. And I told the doctor that I wasn't feeling well and they still discharge me knowing that I was feeling worser saying its nothing that they can do.. I thought it was supposed to be a hospital......

So disapponting! The level of unprofessionalism is astonishing! This hospital use to be the best in the area.It truly has lost that reputation. When I arrived at approx 11pm,the receptionist completely ignored me and continued with a flirtatious and completely inappropriate conversation with two male staff members while I just stood there waiting to be served. She had no idea why I was seeking care..and obviously did not care. She was rude and full of attiude... with smart remarks. Finally, after the guys walked off,she asked for my name and info.I was the only person in the lobby seeking care..yet waited over two hours before a medical doctor stopped by the room.It was obvious he too was lacking in professionalism..he was unprepared..had no idea why I was was there and had not bothered to even look at my chart. He left to go read the chart ..It is now 2am and Im still waiting! I use to recommend this hospital and was the only one I would go to for 35 years.. but never again!Truly sad to see a once "shining example"...turn to rust! Retraining is need at this place immediately!

The worst hospital experience I've had. I came into the ER after midnight, there was no one there to check in with, I eventually had to ask security who I should talk to. This woman named Janice came out and was nasty and rude to me. Then while I'm waiting to go back Janice is actually giving me dirty looks!
Then I'm skipped when being called back.
Then JANICE comes back into the room for billing information and she's gets even nasty with there! She was rolling get eyes at me not looking at me when she was talking to me.
Then the nurse leaves the body temp reader and the blood pressure cuff on sand didn't take them off!! Total laziness!!

On top of it all there was a syringe on floor!!!!!!
Get your stuff together!

I visited the Carolinas Medical Center last week with my son. I am a visitor to the state and was extremely impressed with this hospital. All of the staff welcomed us with open arms. They were all so very nice and polite. The cleanliness at this hospital was extremely impressive. The employees and caregivers at this facility genuinely care for your well-being. After the visit a few days later they even called to check up on my son! Best hospital visit my family and I ever experienced. I hope the staff gets recognized for being the best!

I went in because I cut my finger almost to the bone with a metal cutting band saw. I get checked in everything is normal I wait maybe 30-40 min to get to the back to see a nurse, you never see doctors here but get charged for seeing a doctor. I waited about an hour to get X-rays then the nurse cleaned my finger some. Wait another hour for X-rays sit back in my room to wait for the nurse another hour later the nurse come in cleans the finger again and stitches it closed 5 stitches in total. I finally leave after 3-3.5 hours to get two X-rays and 5 stitches.

Then the bills roll in 500 for two X-rays, 1800 bill from the hospital and a 2500 bill from the "doctor" that I never saw or spoke with.

I almost literally was charged 1000 per stitch I received. It almost literally took one hour per stitch of you look at the situation correct.

I would rather let my finger rot off next time then go back to this overly priced under managed facility.

Two thumbs way the f down!!

i am currently a patient here. i have been here for 3 days now with no answers might i add. dietary has forgotten to serve me 3 times. went without food for hours and i spoke to 2 people higher up even the director robert and aderonke and all they gave were excuses. they dont caree about their patients here. the only good thing is the nurses like latoya and becky. and envoirmental services like lisa. i will never return here and i will be contacting corp about this matter. there is no excuse for a small hospital to be this neglectful .
