If you don't really drink don't be convinced by reviews saying how great the mojito is. Menu is easy to go over without the complications of deciding between a hundred dishes. Ambience was lovely. Good for groups. was awesome.

good food but a few things threw me off. They didn't let us sit until the WHOLE party was there. That was simply crazy. We waited an hour for one person that didn't show up and another 30 min for another table to open up. Then we got stuck in the corner table. That was crappy because I had to drag those people to that eatery. I loved it the 1st and 2nd time I went but I wanted to show my group the reason I love the place. At our table, you couldn't see anything at all which killed most of my reason of going. We didn't get to see the beauty at all. It was really loud, I couldn't hear the person on the other side of the table and I had to go find a waiter/ waitress/ anybody because we sat there for litrally 10 min waiting on one. I requested to sit on the 2nd floor but it was denied but the chef is always great.

The color. ALL the colors! That was what hit me first as I walked into Carnivale. The beautiful colors and setting. I was at a charity event so I headed upstairs to an open room where the food was being set up. The tacos were absolutely delicious and I had a salad that I will always wish I knew the ingredients.

I would recommend Carnivale to anyone. (Granted I didn't have to pay for anything so I'm not entirely sure what the price range is.)

We love Carnivale! This time we were there for a brunch buffet. The buffet was excellent and all the offerings were delicious. We also go for the Carnivale dinners on Friday where the have live entertainers in the dining area. The food is great and the entertainment is excellent. I can't recommend Carnivale enough, we go frequently and have never had a poor meal or experience.

This place has gone way down in quality. Food, drinks, and service were very disappointing the last two visits. When I emailed them to discuss it they never responded. Won t be back till things improve which is too bad because it used to be great!

Great food but our waiter started taking down what we wanted to order and then left to take down another customers order and then came back to us to finish. I thought that was very rude. Our waiter also charged multiple people in my party the wrong amount and I called the manger to try and fix it and he never called me back.

I really liked the interior design of this restaurant. It is full of bright colors and sure to brighten up your spirits. The cotton candy martini is AMAZING. I ordered the pork dish and was not particularly happy with the taste of the dish because it was a little too salty for me. I hesitated to complain to the waiter, but my dinner date insisted I return it and ask for something else.

NYE celebration RUINED - 1.2 hours wait without any explanation ("oh we are busy" - no way, on the NYE night??), horrible food (unsalted ceviche and overcooked barely warm meat), and attempts to make service charge $30 higher than it should be. Oh, and NO apologies except a glass of champagne. We got the appetizers right after the countdown, and finished our entrees and desserts when 90% of people left, DJ shut the music down and the staff was cleaning the floors! TERRIBLE!

We've always seen Carnivale from the highway as an exciting colorful place, and we were pleasantly surprised when the interior matched the exterior, not only in regards to colors, but lovely decor, food, and staff as well.

Their special if the day was seafood paella and it came with a lobster tail- yum! Their guac was great, crunchy chips made in house, and the ropa vieja was fantastic. I feel like this is a Chicago staple and I'd encourage people to go if you've ever had that feeling of, "oh, that looks cool, maybe I should try that place."

Food was delicious. Excellent seafood platters. Beautiful decoration. Simply loved the colors and details and the fun music. Though our server was ignorant and arrogant, everything else was perfect.

Carnivale was a great experience from the moment we walked in. Though we were not promptly seated, we busied ourselves with selecting a coloring sheet offered by the host desk. Once we were seated, we were quickly greeted by our server and poured water. We began coloring shortly after. As we were coloring, the director of operations, Maria, walked by and offered to make our coloring a friendly competition by offering to provide a free appetizer to the winner. This immediately elevated the experience, as it was not necessary for her to do. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and was able to explain traditional dishes to not traditional diners (1 guest is Hispanic, 1 guest was exposed to Hispanic cultures, 1 guest had no experience with Latin American culture or food). The sever, Christian, was able to ensure everyone felt included. Our favorite dishes were the chilaquiles and the roja viejas. The dessert was also very good and thoughtfully put together. Overall, the experience was very enjoyable and we will definitely be returning for the free appetizers.

It is definitely the kind of place where you pay to see and be seen. The decoration is amazing and our waiter was very friendly and efficient, but as not everything can be rosy, they offered us some cocktails that were more passed by water than liquor, (at 12 dollars average one expects something more substantial), Entrance was the roast suckling Cuban type, but I think my years living in Miami did damage since I did not think anything of the other world and the worst thing is that in the menu it was clear that it came with chicharron but no trace of it. My wife liked the arrachera, but again it is too much price for a piece of meat that although it has a lot of flavor is not much less a cut of first quality. Would I go back? I do not think, unless someone invites

Unusual atmosphere, but in a good way. Came here for a work party and had a great time! Staff is talented and competent in what they do. The food was fantastic. The bartenders were very busy, but didn't miss a beat. I would definitely go again anytime I was in the mood to step out of the ordinary.

The atmosphere is really great, even though it is busy the service was right there when you needed it. The value compared to the quality of the food was even. Though in my opinion it is better if you go as a group.

we held our family holiday get together at Carnivale last year. I was excited as the reviews were good..we wanted a place with a good atmosphere and music which was lively for the holiday, we were kept waiting about 30 minutes ( although I had booked months ahead) this was fine as we stood at the bar, we were then taken to a back room upstairs where there were two big round tables, we were away from the festivities in the rest of the restaurant. It felt like we were an after thought up there, service was VERY slow, we poured our own wine..it kinda ended up being a long drawn out evening, we were also celebrating a birthday and they did not bring out the cake. Overall very disappointing for 1500 dinner. Will not go back.

Server (Ricardo) was excellent. Our group tried a variety of appetizers we really enjoyed the octopus, coconut shrimp, and ceviche sampler- interesting cocktails with a fun presentation- everyone enjoyed their meals- desserts also very good including a banana tree leches and the chocolate dome. Definitely would recommend. Decor and environment also are really cool.

Carnivale's time as a trendy restaurant has come and gone but I'm still a sucker for the over-the-top decor and palate-pleasing latin fusion entrees. In my opinion the ropa vieja appetizer served on warm plantains is still one of the best bites in the city. I've never gone but they also offer salsa dancing classes and mixology events.

We have been here several times and the food is always very good, tonight was no exception. We were here on show night and enjoyed the entertainment. We did feel though that they wanted you in and out. The food arrived within a minute or two of ordering, including the main course and when dessert came, so did the check. Not after dessert but with it. No offer of coffee or anything else. This is a place that gives you the feel of "moving tables". While still eating dessert, we were asked if we had taken care of the check. Again, the food is very good, the staff friendly but they Def want you to go quickly.
