Awesome place for toddlers, little and big kids. Very hands on. More exhibitions being built so not fully operational but more than enough to keep my boys busy for hours. The submarine was a huge draw and didn't disappoint. All loved the miniature railway, changes from night to day every few minutes. We visited during a very hot Sunday, was supposed it wasn't busier. Food selection was great, cheap and very tasty! Something for picky toddlers and grown ups wanting a bit more sustenance. Staff were smiley and friendly to all.

As far as the inside of the building my family had a fun time but on the walk back to the car there was a piece of metal sticking off the building that my son did not see once I figure out how to post pictures to this I will but the metal definitely cut my son through his shirt and split open his skin I took pictures of my son and the building I asked to speak to like a supervisor or something in the one worker told me since they was getting ready to close there Was no management I can speak to to call basically the hotline to get it handled which I thought was very unprofessional the lady didn t even asked if my son was OK she just walk to her car let up a cigarette and drove off

This was always one of my favorite places to visit growing up and I am so excited to share it with my son now as well. He absolutely loves the robots exibit and seeing all of the famous movie robots. We spend countless hours on the top floor playing in the childrens area and he loves building forts and castles with the foam blocks. The miniature railroad has been around for as long as I can remember but they still manage to make small changes to it to keep it interesting everytime we go back.

We loved the Science Center. Great to bring kids. There's a lot for them to explore and learn. We were also lucky to catch the Da Vinci exhibit. It provided a nice insight on the genius of Da Vinci as a scientist, artist, sculptor, inventor, civil engineer, anatomist and everything else he dabbled in.
We missed seeing the USS Requin - the exhibit closes down by 4:00pm. Maybe another time.

Super fun and not too expensive if you just do general admission. We took our 12 year old and were there five hours. Did the ropes course, Roboworld, body exhibit, planetarium show..everything but the mummies part. Great for a cold or rainy day!

Fun and engaging for all ages. They recently started replacing some outdated and broken exhibits which is nice, so theres new things to do and interact with. The shows are always informative and fun. The staff is very nice, knowledgeable and accommodating. It's a very large clean space with multiple levels including a submarine and Sportsworks. A secret tip is to get the veggieburger if you eat in the cafeteria, its so good. The only thing that I wish was different is that some exhibits or shows cost extra.

The 3rd floor and the trains are always fun. We come to.this museum at least 4 times a year and maybe go to the body section once a year and the robot area 1-2 times a year. Wished the body area got rotated out once in awhile since the only thing that really entertains most kids on that floor is the fart chair. The sports area is nice, but my daughter gets scared of the small climbing area after she puts the safety gear on, hopefully she will eventually outgrow the fear. Shows/movies are always good.

This is a great place not only for kids to learn and have fun but for adults as well, there's always something new to learn!!! And the train exhibit wow, unbelievable, you need to take your time looking at that maybe 2 or 3 times. What a beauty, and the submarine is so neat to go through and see. The employees do a wonderful job there and are all so nice and helpful. Nice memories there!! Go and enjoy, have fun.

Why must everything besides strip clubs, gambling,...

Why must everything besides strip clubs, gambling, clubs and bars only be geared towards little kids? This is just another example of how there is nothing to do for adults. My girlfriend and I didn't see any shows, I'm sure that would have made it more interesting but the exhibits themselves are lackluster and not very engaging. At a Science Center I want my mind to be tested and I want to be challenged while also having fun. This place is mostly geared towards kids 10 and under. There is nothing wrong with kids having a good time but a science center shouldn't be reduced to something as pathetic as "something to keep your kids busy". The Railroad and Robot room were near neat but that is about it. The 4th floor and Sports works buildings are basically just a play area for kids. There were no exhibits on physical science, biology, biomes or psychology. There were only exhibits on robotics, space, water and the human body all which were lackluster besides maybe the robotics. Anyway thanks for being another children's time waster instead of giving more things for adults to do. I guess the only way to have fun as an adult is to be a selffish hedonist

My husband and Daughter and I went with our cousin...

My husband and Daughter and I went with our cousin who is the same age as our daughter (8-9). After going through the 4 floors of exhibits which we all enjoyed, we went to the sports complex for the ropes course. We did make it in time before they had to cut off any more people getting in line. At 3pm, we stood in line for just about an hour as 2 other groups went in. We were still going to be waiting for another hour at least before we could go on the course and that would bring us to closing time. Yes we were guaranteed going on the course, but we would not have been able to do any of the other activities. I think having a group of 10 people go in all at once and giving them a 15 minutes time period to go where ever they want is ridiculous. If it was a course with a specific direction and you get though it, then the next person in line can go keeping the line moving. Waiting in line for 2+ hours is a waste of time that could be better spent on other activities. And kids HATE standing and waiting for more than 45 minutes, so for this to be a kids activity it was a let down and I wouldn't recommend unless it's first thing in the morning possibly, you might beat the rush. The girls LOVED the Panda movie at the Rangos Theater.

My family and I drove from Toronto to Pittsburgh and the Carnegie science center is definitely a top attraction. The exhibits are fanstastic (e.g. A look inside a submarine, robotics etc.) and the museum comes along with a sports complex which includes a high ropes course, rock climbing and more. Overall, this museum is great for families and younger children.

Love the science center!! They are always having great events for children AND adults, the food court has pretty good food, and it's a great value to get in for all you can do (science center, sports works, and submarine). They also have a changing seasonal exhibit so theres always something new, they have an awesome movie screen and cool laser light shows.

Like most places with "science center" in the title, this is really just a place for children to play without going home having learned much about science. However, they do have a fantastic miniature train, a neat "robot hall of fame," and a planetarium. Exhibits change regularly, which is good or bad depending on the exhibit. If you have some young kids, it's worth the $20 per person admission. If not, you might satisfy your curiosity elsewhere.

I had much higher expectations of this place. I went to the Pittsburgh childrens museum the day before, and by comparison, the science center was felt overrated. There was a huge amount of people(mostly kids) there, and I was told by staff that it wasn't even super busy. Moreover, there was great aggravation from the lack of parental supervision. This place seemed a bit less involved. There were some places that allowed for free play, or creative learning. Most of the place seemed geared towards preteens, or at least it should be. We spent the whole day here, with a 5 year old and 7 year old. We went in the sub(very cool), saw the laser show(could have been better, felt it was drawn out), and every floor plus the sportswork building

The place where science becomes infinitely interesting, let children realize the meaning of science from playing, we have new discoveries every time we go, and the theme activities inside are also very attractive.

Very disappointed!! Spent almost 80.00 to take my family and felt like we were in a giant day care center!!! My kids are teenagers and like all the science stuff but couldn't even enjoy any exhibits without out of control kids just barging in while your trying to do something. This is not a place for unsupervised young children that have no clue what this place is about. No staff around to help keep things in order. Waste of money.

The space section, robotics area and train display are particularly excellent. The submarine outside in the river was a special treat that is included in the admission. It's a bit difficult to find outside but don't miss it.

An exhausting array of facts and concepts presented in a fun, interactive fashion. The Highmarks SportsWorks building was a highlight for our older kids, and our younger ones enjoyed the Little Learner Clubhouse the most. The staff was enthusiastic and professional. Reciprocity with ASTC Passport Program will help save quite a bit on admission, particularly if you make multiple visits. Wish we lived closer!

This place is amazing! For such a low price it has everything you could ever wish for! I mean seriously, I remember going here for my birthday sleepover party when I turned 10, it was such a blast! I mean we literally slept on the top floor below the robots, and it was just so much fun, seriously you need to go here if you haven't been here, but make sure you bring someone with you.

The kids had a ton of fun here. Plenty of hands on things to do. Highlights were the USS Requin submarine, plenty of space exhibits, and the sports center. Top it all off with an included planetarium show (which truly amazed the kids) and it was altogether a great day. Only downside was the parking was full by the time we got there, so show up early. Nice place to take young kids. Had a lot of fun and very educational. Would love to do again. Staff very knowledgeable

Now, I apologize for not being too specific, mainly because I went there a few years back and my memory is a bit fuzzy, but when I went there, it was fun. The only main thing I actually remember there though was that there was this very cool train set in a room somewhere.

My husband and I visited the Science Center recently. We were just about the only people there without kids; very hands on, great if you have kids. We really liked the bicycle exhibit and the robot exhibit. But the other levels seemed a little neglected and a tad run down. Certainly not worth the $17, per person. Way over priced. Maybe worth $10.

The Da Vinci exhibition is going on until the first week of August. So, we drove from State College to Pittsburgh just for it and it was really worth it.

First of all, we are in members if the Buffalo Museum and we thought the exhibition was going to be free but it was not. It was 8.75 per person regardless of the age.

The exhibition is two flats full of architectural examples of Da Vinci s creations and drawings. There is one side about art, one about weapons, one about physics.

On the other hand, the museum has everything you want to see to entertain the kids. There is a science floor about water movement. Don t miss it.

Outside of the museum in the water there is a submarine SS Corbin (I believe). Give it a try to go in, it is part of the museum.

We had a blast watching our little one explore the world around her. We explored and learned just like our daughter. So many fascinating facts brought to life with all the exhibits.

We got the membership so we can come back more often. We decided it's definitely worth investing in for childhood (and adulthood!) development.

The train exhibit was by far the biggest hit for our toddler. It's incredible the attention to detail.

We spent a whole day here and enjoyed it very much. Everyone from our preschoolers to our teens found things to do to interest them! Apollo 11 was very fascinating to the older ones, but a bit overwhelming to the small children.

It was a tough call who liked it more me or our preschooler. So much to see so much to touch went there during busy Thanksgiving rush with a game in town and still had plenty of room to explore. Completely worth the membership.

After driving almost 500 miles, purchasing our tickets beforehand, and planning to tour the submarine above everything else, we were first held at the desk for almost 15 minutes while one person kept repeating that our tickets are "invalid;" then after another person said they were fine, he then pointed out that "the sub is closed today for maintenance." When I informed him that was essentially the only thing we wanted to visit and asked for a refund, he said he couldn't do that. When I asked for a supervisor asking the same question, we were refused any kind of refund or alternate date ticket. A complete waste of time; I won't bother ever going back.
