This is nothing but a money trap. If you have 2 kids you are going to be $80 dollars in the hole just to get in the door. You will have to pay extra for any show or the submarine. Way to crowded. You have to wait in a line to get your hands on broken exhibits. Only reason I gave one star is because my kids had fun. They could have had just as much fun at a playground for free.

Adult review: the train area and the submarine are epic! Great entertainment for adults and children alike. The mummy exhibit, while extremely cool, was a bit short for my liking but that could be because I'm VERY into watching mummy shows. So, most of the 'facts' that are listed were things of general knowledge. However, the mummies and the artifacts are unbelievable!

The submarine is pretty mind-boggling and a tight fit! The items included that are on display are just amazing.

The train area, which i thought would be my least favorite, was actually my favorite. Make sure to ask one of the 'conductors' to take you on a tour.... Totally worth it!

Everything else is just meh (for adults that is), because the center is very oriented towards children. And that's okay! No complaints here.

My girlfriend, and 3 year old had a terrible experience. With the floor manager heather. We were targeted from the door about "wearing our masks properly" we have conditions that restrict our breathing. And we try the best we can to wear our masks "the right way" this was disregarded by heather. As if she had a personal vendetta towards my girlfriend. We ended up getting escorted out by the police .

Excellent docent tours and gift shop. Pittsburgh is very fortunate to have this museum, which is physically attached to the Carnegie Museum of Art.

Great place for children and adults. The installations are fun and educational, and the demonstrations are fantastic. Parking is easy and with Sports Works next door this place is a full day activity. Their adult programming held after hours and typically with drinks is also a lot fun!

This was an amazing experience, one enjoyable for kids and adults alike. The science center had 5 levels with attractions of robotics, body, the most amazing model train display I have ever seen, space and more. In addition to the fun inside there is a 1940s sub on the Ohio River you can tour behind the Center. Admission is included in the Science Center pass. The ropes exhibit in the adjacent building was a ton of fun as well. If over 48 inches you were hooked up to a harness and could adventure through a suspended obstacle course of ropes, ziplines and more. The building also had a number of other activities to encourage exercising from timed pull up bars and a track to another rope pulley system that would suspend you in the air if you got enough force going. The Center is right across the Heinz football stadium as well. I highly recommend making a trip!!

Old, dirty, broken. I expected much more from this museum. We enjoyed the National Aviary much more and was time better spent. The Children's Museum of Indianapolis and the Mid-America Science Museum are superior in quality, cleanliness, and exhibits.

Took my kids here primarily for the DaVinci exhibit and I have to say it was a major let down. The DaVinci exhibit was bland and boring which is saying something considering the subject is one of the most interesting people to have ever lived. I will say the train exhibit was impressive and I must mention that the staff was friendly and very helpful.

Wish it wasn t so expensive but love to visit once every few years. We saw the Mummy exhibit. Took our time and thought it was worth the extra 12.50 a person. The train room is always a good time.

Had a blast with my two kids and their 3 cousins. So much to do and see. Unfortunately we went on a Sunday and had an abbreviated visit for Sunday hours. Definitely want to go back when we have more time. The weather was bad so it was super crowded in the sports area so lines were long and it took a while to move through. That was the only draw back. Going back on a weekday for sure. My 5 year scaled the climbing wall and it was easily one of her favorite moments ever!

The museum is crowded but fantastic. The real gem, though, is the WWII era sub. You don't have to pay full admission to visit just the sub and it is included in the full admission. It is an amazing walk back in time.

I really enjoy myself everytime I come here. In the past I've visited the Science Center for myself just as much as I have for the kids. They have so much to offer that I wouldnt know where to begin listing it all. It's worth going through their website thoroughly, looking at their calendar, and even joining their mailing list to be kept in the loop with their upcoming events.
I've never left disappointed, and only regret not visiting more often.

A few of the exhibits weren't working properly. Very dirty and sanitizer stations were empty. I have 2 pre teen girls and an autistic teenage boy and the parents of the smaller kids were rude and kept expecting my older son to move out of the way for their smaller tots to participate with the robotic exhibits and when he kept saying " Mom I was waiting in line to play" the other parents gave him dirty looks and shoved their tiny tots in front of him. We will come during the week from now on.

I updated my review because I recently visited there, they did some changes but most of them were minor, however I noticed the biggest changes in the first and second floor. RoboWorld was working just as good as ever which is great, and I love the third floor exhibit. The thing that stands out the most is the Works Theater in my opinion. I went to a show and asked them if they were going to use that big Tesla Coil (which I do like but it's too loud. I am sensitive to loud sounds). They said yes but this wonderful girl named Emily who was running the theater did that same show but in private so because I said I was sensitive to loud noises, she was not going to use the giant Tesla Coil during the show and I was really happy. Not only that but the day we went, there was not a lot of people (Monday in mid-October). I can not thank Emily enough for how nice she was to do that JUST for me, I feel very special that I modified a part of a show due to the fact that I got sensory issues. The world needs more people like Emily. Overall, wonderful staff, sometimes interesting exhibits and a good atmosphere. I kinda hate the fact that now the Rango's theater is not a dome anymore which made it special.

Staff is not good.

Staff is not good.
Attractions are not worth the money.
No food friendly places in the center.
The floor having robots was only something to look at. Other floors were increasingly crappy. Will not recommend any of my friends to see this place

My husband and I visited the daVinci exhibit. We enjoyed every bit of it. We also visited the NASA exhibit and the train room. Thank you to the nice gentleman who was manning the trains Monday afternoon. He provided a lot of information about the train room. This was my second visit to the center this summer. Thank you for being such a great resource for families in Pittsburgh!!

We had a great time seeing the mummy exhibit here. We came on a Saturday so it was packed with kids, but there was still plenty of room to walk around and enjoy stuff! My favorite thing was the robot throwing the basketball into the hoop. Also, they have hand sanitizer stations all over the place (which I appreciate).

I've been bringing my kids and grandkids to the Carnegie Science Center since it opened in 1991, several times a year and for Birthday Parties, spontaneous vacation days, and family celebrations... it's the best place in Pittsburgh for those winter days when everyone has too much energy and it's too cold or rainy to play outside.
The changing exhibits, as well as local favorites, like the Miniature Railroad and Village, make every visit something new and different.
I'm excited to experience the newly renovated and expanded Science Center and the UPMC Sportsworks upgrade.

Several exhibits were not working. Definitely for young children!! My older kids were bored and done within an hour. Submarine was the only cool part. Sports place is geared towards little kids as well. Waste of money for our family.

The science center is getting tired and worn. Expensive when many of the exhibits haven't been updated in years. Train exhibit was closed, and they haven't updated anything outside of the stuff you have to pay extra for. Children's Museum has much more stuff for kids to play with. Submarine is great, but very little info inside.

The train and robot exhibit was really great and the staff was very friendly, sadly they removed some of the better exhibits. Maybe that's just nostalgia talking, but it's still a great place and I would highly recommend.
