Captain Johns Crab House Review

Very slow when bringing our fpod out (35 minutes) and it was cold when we finally received it.

Crabs were great and brought to the table hot. Waitress was very helpful and attentative even though they were busy.

Great service, friendly staff, and the food was great! Will be back to eat again soon.

Not a very good dining experience. If you are only interested in low priced seafood then this is the place. Classless!

Had the all you can eat oyster buffet this evening (11.17.17), it wasn't bad, they also had all you can eat Bay crabs. Our waitress, Rochelle was amazing, very personable and attentive to our needs. We will always go back to Captain John's regardless of specials. Their food has always been good and the dinner plates are plentiful, I am always taking a doggy bag home and the staff is great, I can't remember of ever having a bad experience at Captain John's. I highly recommended going.

My food was monitored for waste, while customer satisfaction seemed unimportant.
The waitress was unfriendly and impatient.
My $50 all you can eat shrimp and crab legs were cold. Faux butter was awful. The setting was nice. However, not worth the trip or money. My co-workers concurred.

The large male blue crabs were delicious and easy to peel. The place was crowded, clearly a local favorite. Service was prompt and friendly.

Ok but not exceptional. Service mediocre and menu expensive. Quality average. Nice location. A real locals hang out.

Crabs were great today. Went here twice last summer and they were just ok. decided to try them out one more time and it worked. Staff was very friendly. we ate inside because of all the fly's outside. One thing I liked is that they cleaned down the tables, chairs and napkin holder after every customer. They wear gloves the entire time and change them in-between task. Also we played the lottery. Fingers crossed!!

We had Kelly as our server on Wednesday. She was great. Ayce crabs were good. sometimes service is an issue. Not this time. We frequent this restaurant and are usually very pleased.

Everything was great. The customer service, the crabs where big an full. The crabs legs were the best I've had in 25 years. The people were super friendly and the scenery an location was beautiful.

Ordered fish. Came in timely manner but was cooked in old grease and was inedible. Nice view of the water.

By far without a shadow of doubt the worst Seafood I have ever eaten.. I had the all you can eat Crab legs and shrimp.. The Crab legs were undercooked and rubbery.. Asked the waitress if my wife and I could get them cooked longer smh shouldn't have said anything.. Only got worse and was told that we were the only people that were complaining... I was paying for my wife's and my food. Not everyone else... We left there and ate fast food got better food and service for 20 dollars compared to over a hundred dollars we spent here.. Avoid this place like the Plague... Save the money and find a worthy Seafood restaurant.. If you do find one please let me know... Haven't had any good Seafood since we moved here from South Carolina.....

Fresh caught crabs are the best. Love the fried oysters. Sunday breakfast buffet is great!

Nasty food, flies everywhere, filthy bathrooms, horrible waitress, management is a complete joke- will never return!

I had the buffet , that's on for the month of September, I think Friday nights from 5:30 until 9. it was awesome!! Good food , good price , and GREAT SERVICE !! I will definatly be going there again...

It was great to get MD blue crabs again! I also ordered steamed oysters but was disappointed. Only one out of a dozen had its briney taste. That one was delicious. The rest were very bland.

The premium jumbo lump crab cakes are worth it! Almost no filler, moist and just fantastic tasting. I've gotten great snow crab legs, loved the cream of crab soup, fried shrimp are always excellent- There are a ton of great choices, the sides and appetizers are varied and always good portion sizes! My friend enjoyed her steamed oyster special, 16 bucks for 2 dozen is not bad at all. It isn't a cheap place to eat but certainly not the hardest on the wallet.
I haven't tried the Wednesday night $21 all you can eat buffet yet, but it looks good every time I see it. (Which is why Wednesday evenings are so packed) I'm definitely going to try it one of these days.
All around good choice for local seafood, one of my favorite places to go!

Went for holiday buffet on a Friday. Most of the food on the buffet was cold. Olny reason I gave 2 stars is the waitress was great.

We ordered for curbside pickup, we had to ask a outdoor server if she would check on our order. 10min later someone comes out and yell for curbside order. We are the only vehicle parked in the curbside, labeled space. I yell "right here". Worker comes over to vehicle and says that she has been out several times looking for curbside and that she saw our truck and why we didn't say anything. How were we supposed to know that she was looking for us? It was really busy outside and our first time here. Skipping to the outcome....... My fish was overcooked and a spoon full of crab in it. My wife ordered the crab cake and french fries meal and she got potato chips. The cream of crab was good. We would have taken it back in there but we already waited over 1hr+ for our order and just wanted to leave.

I went for the seafood buffet. However it wasnt very good variety of food and it was cold. I've been to several buffet style restaurants. But this is by far the most HORRIBLE ever. I definitely WINT be back!!!! Thsy dontveven deserves a 1 they deserve a ZERO!!

Crabs were great, shrimp were good, and hush puppies fantastic.

I Love it the table service was impeccable! I don't recall at the moment our servers name but in our conversation he mentioned that it was he's last date working for them, the food fresh and beautiful, the obeisance on point, the water views on point everything was just impeccable I definitely can't wait to return back.

Crabs were very light hollow and you charging 40.00 and up a dozen you will never see me again not one with meat waste of my time and money

I ordered the all you can eat steamed crabs. They arrived fresh from the steamer hot and perfectly seasoned. Large, sweet and heavy, some of the best I have had in a long time. Will be going back soon.

Lori was very friendly and her service was impeccable. The crabs were on the small side but very meaty. Located on a secluded road along the waterfront and makes for a great date night spot!

Crab cake was good. But the sandwich was served with chips. If you wanted fries or veggies had to pay extra. Also the hostess and waitress took forever to help us.

I go there strictly for the crabs... and they can cook some crabs. It s a hit or miss as far as the staff s attitude goes. Sometimes they re friendly and other times their not. That goes for their attentiveness too. I pretty much don t care either way. Just bring me my crabs:) My visit are normally during the spring and summer seasons which is the busiest time to go. I give the staff a pass because it s normally hectic when I m there. The restaurant isn t that clean either but again, I m there strictly for the crabs:) So what if my feet are sticking to the floor. As long as the crabs are larger, hot, and accompanied by all the fixings I m a happy camper:)

The food was very good except for the crab dip. Service was terrible. The waitress told us we had to wait to order because we were waiting for one more person to show up. When we asked her why she said because it was easier on the waitress (her) to put all orders in at the same time.

There Cream of Crab soup has gone way down hill it is white gravy no Crab meat. I hope dinner is better. NOT. Hubby order stuffed Rockfish. Food arrives. My hubby said that this is not Rockfish. Waitress said it isn't it is flounder. We are out of Rockfish. He ordered stuffed Rockfish. But no one bothered to tell him this prior to delivering the wrong meal-they just changed his order. I guess hoping he wouldn't notice. NOT He noticed. Sad day for dinner out.

The New Years Eve buffet was pretty good. Definitely a value. The raw and fried oysterswere excellent.

I didn t get a chance to enjoy the delicious hot food. My family and I waited just over 2 hours for our food. We were pleasant while waiting just enjoying ourselves. It wasn t until a family came in got seating and received their food in no time. We inquire about our food with a staff telling us it just finished cooking. We get our food, looking at each other like why are our French fries cold. We made a few comments while receiving our food about it not being hot. She never said 2 words about it. Tried to hide that she didn t order my food then hurry and cook it. Well, the fish anyway. Put it with some already cooked fries and gave it to me. Me being the picky eater I am, I was too disgusted to eat anything. I picked over it and was done. So we paid and left knowing to never decide on this place again. I sat at that table and wanted to cry because I knew I was only paying my last money for me and my children to enjoy dinner for mother s day with my mom and sisters. Then to sum it all up, I ve been working in a restaurant for the last 7 years catering to my paying customers every issue. Making sure they are satisfied with what they spend their money on. So I am very confused about why our 2 hour wait for slightly warm food went unnoticed. We were too disappointed in the customer service to even ask for the manager to complain. This is a heads up to large colored American families. It s not worth your money unless all you want to enjoy is spending time with your family.

I really loved their dishes. I always get fantastic customer service there. The place is always clean and the staff members are always friendly. Will visit here again.

Well worth the drive. I enjoyed my all you can eat crabs.
