Captain Johns Crab House Review

NO ALL YOU CAN EAT ALASKAN KING CRABS ..MY WORST VISIT YET.

The vibe the customer service was excellent , got a spot on the deck, the waiter kept checking on us, if we needed more drinks, kept bringing a fresh hot batch of crabs. I will definitely be going back

Not what I expected from a Crab House. I order flounder w imperial crab. It was one piece of flounder; I expected two. Very basic. My crab legs were old as well.

Always great! You can NOT beat the crab feast prices. DE LI CIOUS

Maryland's best kept secret! The seafood is so fresh. Get the Captain's platter and add oysters, rockfish and a soft shell crab, Yum!!!!

Seafood is their specialty not just crabs. Great service and views with the restaurant being right at the waters edge.

Good crab house, good food, nice clean and comfortable. Not super classy, but relaxed environment, you know it's a crab house! If the weather is good, the outdoor seating is great!! We arrived by jetski and tied up at the little pier in front of the outdoor seating area with no problems at all. It is very convenient to visit by boat. They do have gasoline, although the pump out on the pier was out of order when we were there, but they do have a 15 gallon rolling gas tank that they will lend you for no charge. You fill it up at the other pump on shore and roll it out to your boat. Easy.

The place serves large dishes and for convenient pricing. very friendly employees. Will visit again.

What more could you ask for? Perfectly cooked fresh seafood with banging hushpuppies right on the dock on a gliding picnic table at sunset, sign me up!

A bit far and off the beaten path, but has good AYCE crabs.

I've been eating at Captain John's since I was a child and it's always been a pleasant experience. The food just rocks across the board, the service is efficient and welcoming, and the view is one of the finest in Southern Maryland. I was just there for lunch recently and can't wait to return.

The food was good, we went at a busy time but overall a good experience. Will definitely come again.

Boss took us here after finishing our project here in southern MD. Ordered a surf n turf platter for 34.99 with jumbo shrimp and NYC steak. Fries and veggies for the sides..
Server came back to say they're out of steak so I replaced with the prime rib cooked medium well.
Very displeased with the results..
Prime rib was overcooked (very well done), dry, and everything was barely warm! Shrimp were not jumbo, and were very bland. Veggies clearly came out of a can in a small side dish that was probably microwaved. The fries were actually pretty good, but again, barely warm.
We treated our server very well but she hardly stopped by to see how things were, she was busy talking to her coworkers the whole time behind the counter and just had an 'i don't care i just have to be here' attitude.
Hate to leave such a review but I absolutely would not reccomend this restaurant to anyone.

I have definitely had better. Salad bar lettuce was awful. Shrimp overcooked and service had to be requested. Soft shelled crabs were good.

Been coming here over 40 years and always enjoy the crabs and atmosphere. Always special.

Great selection of food. My wife likes Crabs, she said they were Nice and Hot.

So I had the pleasure of trying this place and it was lack luster. The crabs and mozzarella sticks were ok but the fries and marinara sauce was disappointing. My friend also ordered an all you can eat seafood special. I tried 2 of her crabs and was approached by the manager Carol saying that we will be charged an additional 49.99 because she shared her food. I also felt uncomfortable because my friend and I were being watched the entire time. I live about an hour away from this place and decided to make the trip because all of the hype but it wasn t worth it! I hope others have a better experience than I and considering the current race issue we are going through I think it was uncalled for to closely watch the two young African Americans girls that are visiting the establishment for the first time. Also, I recently lost my ID and due to the pandemic am unable to get a duplicate right away so I carry other forms and ID and they refused to accept them. So just a complete disappointment all the way around.

Enjoy eating all u can eat Crabs, juicy & meaty been there 6 consecutive times and counting... delicious.... great service and very pleasant atmosphere.

The staff was friendly and fast I was late and still got my food with everyone else

They had good food in large portions, but most of my family's visit was waiting for the server to come help us. Very inattentive. The food kinda makes up for it though.

What's not to love about Capt'n John's. They always have great food and its fresh. I was saddened to learn they did away with the all you can eat snow crab legs with steamed shrimp. However, the food we had was great. You can never go wrong with the steamed shrimp, bowl of Maryland crab soup and their awesome hush puppies.

We sat outside and it was a perfect evening . The feast crabs were great, fat and sweet. Our waiter was attentive, friendly and helpful.

Great place to go with the family! All you can eat crabs by the dozen! Even if you go by yourself, the drive going down there is very scenic.....

Sort of disappointed went for the all you can eat crablegs and it was not on the menu. An all year item that was not available. Wow so crushed.

Crab legs small and no meat and the service was terrible. Wouldn't be back!

Food was great and had a great waitress MIchelle. Only downer I see is it always cold, but I've learned to bring a light jacket.

The onion rings were great. The fried oysters were good. Soft shell crab was not so great, whatever it was fried in took away from the crab. The waitress was si helpful, friendly and attractive. The food was good, but the waitress made the visit very nice.

Treated us right. We were cold and wet from the storm on the Potomac but the staff did not bat an eye at us. We had a great meal with cold beers at a good price.

Love this old style place. Been going there for years. If you order oyters be careful you you might find a pearl !

Previously, I gave a 1 star rating due to food poison. Last December, I ordered a barbeque sandwich and quickly became very sick. I ate there with certain expectation and was disappointed when I fell ill. I have not ate from this establishment since.

The All U Can Eat Crab Feast was great & they are open in the Winter!

They have good selection of seafood, but crab legs are so expensive and I love all you can eat at a reasonable price. My wife and I opt for steamed shrimp, all you can eat and free diet Coke and hush puppies and salad bar for me. After that, we are stuffed to the gills and it's time to head for home and chill. It's okay

My waitress Misty was amazing. She made sure my husband and I had the best experience. The crabs were so yummy and it was so welcoming there. Everyone knows each other. We will for sure be back.

Typical Southern Maryland Crab House. Needs a hand washing sink in the dining area. That's a must for a crab house. Service was good, no issues.

Great place to go for delicious seafood. Friendly staff, clean restrooms, superb service. Open year around. I can't wait to go back.
