The location is close to downtown Jefferson City, the Capitol is within walking distance. The staff are friendly, the food is decent, but I gave 4 stars because of the hygiene of the rooms. I've found dead bugs in areas that should have been cleaned prior to my stay, and have also been given a room with soiled sheets. Overall however the hotel is one of the best.

We stayed the weekend of the police chief conference. I booked the reservation online and was told It was actually made for the following weekend (oops) So, the place is really packed with people and they found a way to accommodate us. I appreciate that. As we were in town for a dr appointment.
The room was clean, the bed was a joke, the coke machine was out of most everything and the ice machine was broken. The thermostat is out of 1964. The ac would not come on. Just the heater. So we were uncomfortable by 3 in the morning , thankfully the window opened slightly for fresh air. Until the laundry caught on fire , then we closed it. Firefighters quietly took care of it without alarming the entire building. So great job there.
Can't say I would stay here again.

We always have a nice stay here. However don't plan on going to the pool. It is out of service about half the time we visit here. That's about twice a year. The rooms are comfortable and clean!

The hotel is built up like a classic fancy hotel with rooms opening to the inside courtyard area with glass elevators. The room itself is outdated and lacking technology. There are no outlets by the bed to charge your phone while laying in bed. Corners are not vacuumed well and have a layer of dust.

bathroom shower is unclean, shower head is only 5 feet high. left for the day and house keeping only made one bed, left trash that should ve been removed, they turned off central air off when it was 85 degrees out!. This hotel needs a makeover bad and for the price we could ve stayed somewhere better.

The pillows are EXTREMELY small. Bring your own. The towels are like sandpaper. There was no soap in our room so we had to ask for some. The water pressure is very weak. The beds are very hard. I think this property needs to be updated. It's in a perfect location. We've stayed here in the past and enjoyed it. I think it's gone downhill a bit.

Horrible experience. First, the computers crashed , and they couldn t check anyone in. Then when they were able to, there was only 1 person behind the desk. People would randomly show up behind the desk, make some comment, laugh, and leave. Meanwhile, there s a long line of angry customers. Second, there was a large organization who was having a conference, in the middle of the hotel, taking over the second floor. Then on Saturday, they turned on very loud music that reverberated throughout the entire interior of the hotel. I would never come here again, even if it were free.

The staff is what makes it. We checked in, headed to the room and then the lounge. Lounge attendant/bartender was very attentive (I wish I knew her name) and the food came out fast and hot. Win, win.

Yes, the hotel is a bit in need of a refresh, however it is quiet for being so large. Check out was a breeze - the BEST part? The breakfast buffet! I've stayed in much pricier digs who don't do as good a job as these folks.

Thank you Capital Plaza - next time we come through we'll pick you!

Genny

I recently got married at Capitol Plaza and hosted my reception there as well. The staff was amazing, the food was great and everyone was so helpful and nice during the whole experience. I also want to give a shoutout to Denise, director of event sales, for helping put everything together she is exceptional! Recommend 100%.

I am not normally one to leave a bad review because I am usually a very understanding person. My visit it's self was not a bad visit. I stayed at the hotel on January 10th for one night to do makeup for a wedding the next morning. Much to my surprise, last Wednesday 1/22/2019, a total of $821.66 was taken from my account by this hotel which took my account negative and caused numerous overdraft fees since I only had $600 in my account. I immediately called the hotel and spoke with Terry, who was very kind and reassured me that she would have Joe call me at 7am when he came into the office Thursday morning. The next morning I had not heard anything by 9:00am so I gave him a call. He let me know he wouldn't be at his desk until around 1:00pm but he could see that this was a clerical error and that somehow my stay had been extended 7 nights! I only stayed ONE! He assured me that he would credit all the nights but except for the night I stayed which would be around $700 that same day and he sent me a letter that I could forward to my bank to refund all of my overdraft s. I was able to get the letter to my bank and the overdraft fees have all been refunded, but 6 days later, I still haven't gotten the money back from the hotel. I am still negative in my account. That is 6 days of no money for me. I called the hotel this morning and Terry answered. I requested to speak with Joe and Terry put me on hold. When she came back to the phone, she stated that Joe was on a conference call but that "They sent the money to my bank immediately so I need to contact them for my money". Her tone was very sharp and unpleasant. I hung up on her because I couldn't talk anymore without blowing up. I have been in constant contact with my bank and they have even filed a Fraud report now since the money has NOT BEEN REFUNDED. This is absolutely ridiculous and the lack of compassion from this hotel is unreal to me. This is my money you are playing with. This is my gas money, my bill money, my grocery money. This isn't some game. I used to work at a bank and when you refund money to the card that was on file, IT GOES TO THE CARD. NOT THE BANK. The bank has not seen my money and the hotel says they have refunded, so where is my money?? This is the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. But of course, as long as you are paid the night I stayed there, it is not your problem anymore right? To be honest, I should have gotten the night free after going through this much trouble, but I didn't even expect that.
My bank is contacting the hotel because I can no longer speak to this hotel.
I will be letting everyone I know that they DO NOT need to stay at this hotel and I will make sure to share my experience.

***UPDATE: It just keeps getting better! Not! Just spoke with the bank manager and she was able to speak with Joe. Turns out my credit went to someone else that wasn't me so now they are working to figure this out. They sent the credit to a totally different card. And here I am, still without my money at this time.

Old hotel that really hasn't updated conference facilities. I did not stay overnight so i can't speak to the lodging. They are doing construction repairing the entrance to the underground part lot.

Old hotel. Rooms need updating. In ours, the receptacle in the lamp pulled out, the ceiling panel containing the cold air return fell out, and it took 15 minutes to get hot water in the lavatory. No refrigerator, which is bad for a diabetic. Management was not responsive.

Stayed at this beautiful hotel for four and half weeks while in training. Breakfast and Dinner are delicious. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Nice swimming pool and weight room. Large banquet hall.

I wasn't very impressed overall. My bed and pillows weren't very comfortable. The scent they use to cover up the old cigarette smoke smell of the rooms does a decent job but it's super strong. The amenities and rooms are pretty dated and didn't really live up to expectations of a "nice hotel." The showers weren't great either, halfway through the shower the pressure would drop so low I could barely wash my hair and the showers themselves are pretty cramped. Overall, I liked the open atrium so you can overlook the courtyard from any floor, but the comfort just wasn't there. For pros I would say the TVs and channel options (including movie channels!) were really good. However, I'd probably choose to stay somewhere else next time.

Not a bad hotel for it's age. The staff was first rate but the rooms could use some work (especially the plug in outlets, some of which did not work).

The food offered on the Park Place buffet and the bar menu was overprice considering the below average food quality.

Overall a average hotel that is starting to show it's age a little.

Intended to stay at Lake, but it was booked. Capitol Plaza was second choice, but turned out all much better than Lake would have been. Rooms and service were wonderful! Minoshia in restaurant was outstanding!

Staff were friendly and smiled alot, but the rooms had no fridges, no microwaves, my pillows had someone elses make up on them our room was exceptionally warm even with the air unit on.

Depending on why you stay at this location will depend on how you rate it. I would not consider this a totally family friendly hotel. The pool is very small for the size of the hotel. The fountain is fun. The hotel is perfect if you are here on business.

This is supposed to be the nicest hotel in town... I liked the days inn just as well for half the cost. Aside from the lobby which is gorgeous its just not that much more impressive for the much higher cost

Don t stay here if you plan on sleeping. It s 10:45pm and there are adults in the atrium screaming and yelling. I called the front desk to inquire about quiet hours and was told the sounds were coming from the lounge, which is open pretty late. Front desk said she d call the bartender to have them quiet down, but no real solution was offered and they re still VERY loud, even on the 9th floor. Rooms are dated, but that s the least of my worries since I have an early morning.

This hotel is OK. They do not participate in any rewards program. The restaurant is lacking in staff. Had to wait over 20 minutes for someone to take my order. Rooms are old, the bathroom door wouldn't latch or close. There is nowhere to go within walking distance, so you are stuck with their restaurant unless you have a vehicle or order delivery.
