I looked up best restaurants in Seattle, and Canlis came up. I had high hopes going into Canlis, but they exceeded it. The views, atmosphere, service, and most importantly the food was amazing. It is a bit expensive, but I'd say this is definitely worth it.
Very pricey. Food can be a hit or miss. You only come for the view and service. Super pricey so come prepared
This was an amazing experience with extraordinary service and classic French food served elegantly without compromising portion sizes and accompanied by an affordable price tag.
Canlis is well known for its wine program. In fact, Canlis has won a James Beard award for its program. When hearing the news of its award, Eleven Madison Park owners Daniel Humm and Will Guidara sent them $23,000 worth of crystal ware with Canlis etched on the glasses as a congratulations gift.
The amuse were artfully crafted, Northwest inspired, and delicious. We started with the Canlis salad, prepared tableside for parties that elect to have the entire table enjoy the dish. Great salad, but not much is added to the experience for tableside service. We would recommend ordering what you wish for than going for the tableside service.
The bread course came next and this was excellent. Focaccia bread and salty butter were all too good. This was finished instantly alongside the salad course.
We next tried the rabbit sausage and Dungeness crab rice. The sausage was not much to write home about, but the rice was an excellent take on a Cajun style gumbo flavor with al dente Arborio rice - different and excellent.
Desserts came next and at this point we were full. We ordered the apple tart option and chocolate dish with a salted caramel that was to die for. The check was served with homemade macaroons and chocolates.
Our experience was fantastic! We were very much impressed with our service, the food, and our capability to feel satisfied/full/well-fed/comfortable/appreciated/etc at the conclusion of the event. This was a great experience and one for the books. Will definitely be back before my journey here in Seattle concludes.
Always lovely - exceptional & attentive service without being intrusive + lovely food. You feel well taken care of from arrival to departure. Best special occasion venue in the city.
So fun, so delicious! Get the blackberry pineapple soda!
Lovely atmosphere and service, but the overall experience just didn't justify the cost. You could go out to two or three fantastic dinners in Seattle for the same price, potentially with better food.
Currently serving in a socially distanced manner. The meal was spectacular!
You have to make reservations aweek in advance and takes for 2 are HARD to come by but we bought a 3-top just for the two of us as it was our anniversary.
Service was great! Food was subpar for our group. Check out this carrot entree.
Canlis Crab Shack is Fabulous! Amazing Dungeness Crab Lunch or Dinner is BEACHY! Grab the sunscreen and your friends and enjoy - we sure did!
I was lucky enough to be invited to the first #MarryMeInSeattle event hosted by Canlis. Setting? Superb! Food? Superb! Service? Beyond superb! Well done, Canlis!
Everything about Canlis screams of romance and sophistication, including the drive up to the restaurant, which showcases what's to come. The view is beautiful! The entire restaurant is gorgeous! Service is on point, but the reason for a star being docked is the experience my sister in law had with the wait staff after asking for a vegetarian tasting menu. We had called in advance and specifically asked for her, and they obliged. However, at the start of the dinner, when we all wanted the regular tasting menu with the exception of hers being vegetarian, they stated they couldn't do that. Huh? After some fuss with management, we finally got her a vegetarian tasting, but at that point it had already put a sour taste in our mouths--no pun intended! I can't remember anything being absolutely spectacular or particularly unpleasant, but the experience (minus the menu snafu) was enjoyable. I'd do it again for sure, just this time with a regular menu.
