Everyone we interacted with was professional and friendly. Attention to detail was second to none. Our server Matthew in particular was outstanding. All the food we had was excellent, though we each had one intro course where we would have preferred something else - they have so many great options it can be hard to decide.

I recently celebrated my birthday at Canlis and had an incredible experience. The experienced started with the valet parking at entrance, the staff welcoming us in and taking our coats, to being seated with an incredible view overlooking Seattle and the water.
I started my meal with the Sunchoke. It was prepared in several ways, with a unique variety of textures and flavors. It was a tad adventurous for me, but quite a unique flavor experience overall.
My second course was the Rabbit, which is breaded and lightly fried. The rabbit did not taste game-y at all, and the potatoes it was served with had amazing flavor.
I was excited to have the ribeye for my third course. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare, super tender to the bite and amazing flavor. The fermented garlic had a fantastic richness and creamy garlic flavor. The radicchio was quite bitter, and I didn't quite care for it.
I concluded my meal with the souffle, which was probably the best souffle I've had. It was perfectly cooked, rich in flavor and served with a rich cream. The madeleines on the side were fantastic as well.
From start to finish, the restaurant had absolutely incredible service. The food itself was perhaps 4 stars, there were certain elements that I was not particularly impressed / blown away by. However, it was very clear that in terms of service the restaurant covered every single possible element and component. While the meal itself is expensive, it should be expected given the circumstances.
This this place features a cool bar and decor and is always packed. I recommend getting res as with most sushi places in Seattle that is decent. Get a same tasting and you can call it a day.
Fun Night! This was a blast, the atmosphere is great, the staff are very friendly. My girlfriend took me here for a little get away and it was really pleasant. They take covid seriously and have a temperature check at the door which was nice. The weather was perfect and everything was delicious! I will definitely be back (even though it will be different) because at the end of the day, good food is good food!
The crab was some of the best I have had, the dip was delicious and the corn was fantastic. Worth every penny!
PHENOMENAL service, amazing food, stunning dining room and million dollar view. This restaurant is the best of the best!! EVERYTHING we had was delicious and we were blown away by the friendly and attentive service staff. Oh and the pianist was creative and very talented!
Easy to pickup. Good service. But food is way toooooo salty. Entree, side, salad are all salty. Am I just in bad luck? I want to try dining-in next year lol.
The reviews here are terrible. They don t capture how unique and authentic this establishment is. I give these reviews only one star because the words here are very uninspiring. I have never been so bored while reading. It made me question if I should read another review or read anything ever! I have never been to this restaurant, but these reviews...Disregard them all.
Food here is OK, I went there 3 times in past 2 years and food quantity & quality both declined. For the super high price plus auto tip, you are burning cash.
Also make sure to have McDonald's before going there!
Called to make a reservation and was on hold for 20 minutes. Hostess who finally answered was unapologetic and said she was having a busy night. Not impressed. This is getting a habit at Canlis. Been there many times for 15 years but not worth the attitude anymore. Many other places with better food, better views and most of all better service. Not what it used to be. They obviously don't need my business anymore and it is time to move on.
This was such a fabulous experience. The atmosphere and service were excellent, but what made this truly memorable, was the incredible food. We did the classic wine pairing with our courses and they did an excellent job of choosing the wine that paired with the food. Though it is expensive, worth every penny.
Literally the worst dining experience of my life. I ordered the steak medium-rare (a simple request), but my waiter didnt know what I meant. After spending about 5 minutes trying to explain what MEDIUM-RARE meant, I gave up and asked for it to be cooked to medium. What I recieved could have fought back. The steak was dripping blood all over my plate. After all was said and done, I left hungry. To top it all off, I went to use the bathroom at the end of it and was forced to use toilet bowl liners to wipe with (due to a lack of toilet paper), and dried my hands on my pants because there werent any paper towels (and of course no hand dryers either). You could not pay me to return.
Amazing fine dining experience. They really have the service and experience down like clockwork. The food was all excellent and the wine pairings were excellent but the price is a bit over the top. For that price there are other places I would return to first, but still a 5 star experience without a doubt.
I love this restaurant! Yes, it is pricey but for what you get, it is worth every cent! The food was spectacular. We did the wine pairing with it which I highly recommend. The wines complemented the food that was served so nicely. It's a true dining experience!
Service: four star, staff were pleasant and attentive. Menu: three star, selection was limited, nothing on the menu stood out, kind of blah. Quality of food: two star, we sent the main course (steak) back.
Great place for to celebrate an occasion. Need to make reservations well in advance. Valet parking. They have a 4 course menu. But they are aways bringing small bites in between the courses. The staff is very friendly and makes sure you always have a full glass of water :) We got cocktails when we got there and wine with our entree. I believe you can bring your own bottle of wine and they have a corking fee. Overall it was a great experience
You have to love Canlis! Not only do they have great service and food, but they are creative. While most restaurants are closed during the pandemic or just offering take out, they surprised us with an outdoor pop-up crab shack in their lower parking lot. Worth the drive. Worth the price.
We had the Canlis Salad (basic, but tasty), the Smoked Sockeye Salmon (exceptional), and the Muscovy Duck (delicious--worth getting). Overall, the food, service, ambiance, and views were all spectacular. (I do wonder what they do with the rest of the duck, since they present a full roasted duck to you and then only fillet the breast, but delicious nonetheless.) I'd go definitely go back.
Great view. The drinks were fantastic and the food was great. Be aware this is an experience with a few small plates of food that will provide a full belly.
Family owned and operated and Chef Brady Williams is executing modern delicious new American cusine! Highly recommended to enduldge in their world class wine list. The timeless Peter Canlis Prawns is always a good way to start. A cutting edge modern - timeless classic (is that possible?)
We were here on Christmas Eve and the place was packed with Sea Hawk fans. (wearing their shirts) It looks like a brasserie in Paris. The service was as one would expect when paying these prices. Our steaks were delicious and there is a huge selection, but I'll be honest, it was not THE best steak I have ever had..
Fantastic. The service really takes care of you and is smoothly coordinated from when you valet until you are ready to leave. The menu is pick a dish from 4 different sections and all the choices are delicious so picking isn't easy. They also have an extensive wine menu and unique cocktails. I really recommend the Akaji cocktail.
This is difficult for me to write, because I wanted to like this restaurant as I went with a best friend who knows the sommeliers here. Unfortunately I experienced horrible food poisoning after dining here and the worst part is that when my friend called the restaurant the next day to inform them and emailed her sommelier contacts no one cared enough to respond, and a restaurant manager finally called her after several phone calls she made to the restaurant. He didn t even seem to be apologetic nor caring. Clearly the five star reviews remind me of the story of the Emperor with No Clothes as for some reason people writing the five star reviews are too embarrassed to tell the truth that they got ripped off for meager servings and mediocre food at best. The staff was nice; the view and ambience romantic, but food poisoning after having mediocre overpriced food is the worst experience ever. Not having anyone from the restaurant care warrants a zero star review but I left one star because our server was sweet and hope he gets a job at a better restaurant.
My partner and I had booked our dinner months in advance to celebrate our Birthdays. The experience as a whole inside the restaurant was phenomenal, the staff were friendly, engaging and able to suggest brilliant pairings. However, once our dinner concluded and we stepped outside we were met with a throng of obnoxious, drunken Hawaiian shirt clad patrons spilling from the Luau party in the lot. I expect to be exposed to that level of debauchery and rudeness anywhere else in the city, but for a $500 dollar dinner and drink tab it cheapened the entire experience and became the biggest takeaway for the night. I'd love to say I'll return, but if the Luau is on, never again.
Rudely told by one of the valets that we couldnt be in the parking lot early for our reservation, food super overpriced and not the best. Overall had a decent time and was a one time experience!
Excellent place! Service was top notch! I ordered everything my server recommended and it was all delicious. The pasta was marvellous and you can really taste the difference. It was the best pasta I've ever had. I would recommend making a reservation, luckily we were able to be seated at the bar though. Dim lighting and romantic ambiance - great place for a dinner date.
Wonderful atmosphere food and drink. We celebrated an anniversary here and it was great. They accommodated my wife's food allergies with no trouble at all. Great for any occasion especially a special occasion.
Wonderful! Since we moved to Seattle from Edinburgh, we have been a little disappointed with the fine dining scene. Canlis is the first place we ve been in the Pacific Northwest that rivals the best European restaurants. Excellent food and knowledgeable, attentive staff. The menu is packed with fresh, seasonal flavours and the presentation is classic. Wonderful views out over the city as you dine!
Wait staff was awesome. Steak was perfect. So was the Canlis salad. Nice touch on our dessert with Happy Anniversary. Only downside was that we were charged$6 per bottle for water. Confusion as we thought it was just regular water.
I would say the following things impressed me about this restaurant:
The superior level of service from the minute you walk into the establishment, the valet staff, the hostess, waitstaff in the bar area, the wine list, the event coordinator, the appetizers and dessert and the staff in the Executive Room. The timing of the meal and the pleasant exchange with the staff was impeccable. We visited a day after the 3 day snow-storm in Seattle. I was over the moon with the view of the Puget Sound since it was a clear night and a spectacular scene.
Our private menu consisted of the following items I would highly recommend:
- Tempura Maitake Mushroom - Cured Duck Breast - Oysters - Dungeness Crab with Haiga Rice, hazelnut and brown butter dashi - Creme Brulee
The only disappointment was that my group all agreed the steak was average. It was cooked to our preference, but it was tough to cut into. I could've sworn one of the guys put his elbow into it... skip the steak, everything else is a must, especially the local fish.
One of the most memorable dining experiences we've ever encountered. We opted for the wine pairing with dinner and were not disappointed. Our bar and table servers were both excellent. Judicious levels of humor, courtesy and space. Only minor criticism was the table we were initially given. Very poor view and ambience (which, let's face it is what you go to Canlis for). We requested a better table. It was absolutely worth the wait. We'd return for a special occasion without hesitation.
One of the best view of Seattle. Classy dining, finest and tasty food. Very good cocktails. I'd suggest a slightly bigger portions (in particular for the main course)...fries are a good add on. They really care about food allergies and intolerances and they have a vegetarian menu
I was glad about the fact that this fascinating restaurant had served me well today. Also, I loved the idea that they were good and nice enough to accommodate all of my requests for the foods and drinks that I wanted to eat. They got all the specialties that captured my heart. The place was even elegant and prestigious. It was indeed perfect for any special occasions and dates. I ll come again sooner. Thank you so much. God bless!
A must if ur visiting Seattle, I'd give it 10 stars if pssbl la creme de la creme in every category!! 2nd time visiting and left as satisfied as the 1st
Seattle best best best number 1 restaurant!!!!! I know it is expensive, but if you go once or twice a year for special days, you can spend that much money. If you taste one of their foods, you will know it is worthy. Then excellent service, great view, romantic moods!! They have everything for making you and everyone happy. You will extremely satisfied. Once again, it is expensive but worthy for one or two times a year.
I went to Canlis with my friend and her dad to treat them during their visit to America and this was such a perfect spot. We called ahead because we had some special requests and they were happy to cater to our needs. Every single dish we ordered was executed well and the dessert was great. The experience was definitely worth the $125 + service and more. Highly recommended.
If you're gluten free then avoid Canlis like the plague! My husband and I went and ordered the duck 3 ways specifically because they could make it gluten free for me... The server assured me. When it came out I only got 1/3 of the meal because in the server's words "the kitchen didn't feel like making the gluten free substitution that day" they also refused to allow me to change my menu choice. Very very poor experience makes me extremely unlikely to ever return.
For a 'fine dining' experience my wife and I both found the location and atmosphere top notch, but unfortunately found the food a bit pedestrian. Fine dining with only four small plates should wow the senses. The food and flavors should be a cut above. Fresh ingredients cooked well isn't enough in the space that I think Canlis is operating. It was a birthday dinner and I mentioned my wife's cow-dairy intolerance well in advance (over a month's notice), but the chef/kitchen made no effort to accommodate her. In fact, the wait staff did mention it to us but it seemed like it was a last second glance at the reservation and just parroted what I had already told them. They did not proactively go over the menu with her to explain what she could or couldn't have - we had to ask. There were no suggestions that the kitchen could modify any of the dishes to substitute oil or goat/sheep for cow dairy - something that many other restaurants sometimes offer. There were no 'dairy free' desert options and sorbet and berries/fruit was offered instead - so cliche and very disappointing! One of her dishes - a pumpkin appetizer tasted bland and even a bit burnt to both of us. this was a dish that I would not be comfortable serving to friends at home let along going out to a fine dining restaurant for. My courses were seafood - prawns, crab, and cod. They were ok, quality ingredients cooked well, but again - message to the chef, the standard of food here should be rave-worthy, with creative ingredients, flavor combinations, cooking techniques and presentation. Unfortunately the standard at Canlis in this regard is well below where we thought it should be in comparison to the many other fine-dining restaurants we've visited in our travels. The one standout dish was the Filet Mignon, which we both really loved. Apart from the issue with the food intolerance, the service was in general pretty good. The wait staff were friendly and attentive, and the food arrived at the right temperature and at a good tempo. The standard of food and the inflexibility of the kitchen to accommodate menu adjustments are the main reasons we wouldn't return. Is one rave-worthy dish out of the seven that we tried good enough to recommend Canlis? - you be the judge.
One of the best views in the city. Went there for an event, the up stairs bartender was experienced and helpful, using his skills to introduce us to all sorts of cool unusual drinks. The steak was tender and savory. They had an excellent piano player on the first floor which created a great ambiance. One of the coolest restaurants in Seattle, would definitely recommend for a high end fancy dinner.
This place wasn t just amazing food, it was an epic experience. The attention to detail, the ambiance, the top notch service and the wine list that never ends. My girlfriend has bad gluten and dairy allergies and they did an amazing job subbing out items she couldn t eat. I would recommend Canlis to anyone looking for a true dining extravaganza.
What a wonderful restaurant and exceptional team of employees. I knew this dining experience would be exceptional when I made my first call to the restaurant to get help with my reservation. We arrived at the restaurant and we were greeted by the hostess. While our table was being finalized we chatted with such a warm person that made us feel like we have been coming to this establishment for years even though this was our first visit. The dining room over looks Seattle and every table has a fantastic view. The food is as spectacular as the view.
Canlis IS and WILL ALWAYS BE one of the few restaurants that will blow you away each time you go there. The service is beyond top tier, and the chefs prepare the most extravagant, delicious food I have ever ordered. Canlis is the epitome of a 5 star restaurant. It is a bit pricey, but when you put the amazing food, and extraordinary service into perspective, you couldn't be getting a better deal.
The best fine dining experience in the Pacific Northwest! Food is fantastic and the wine selection is equally impressive (understandable with a Forbes 5 Star restaurant and WS Grand Award cellar)! Location is very cool with a great view (not to mention some cool history).
The team here is awesome; both the kitchen and front end are very friendly and you can tell they love what they do. The Sommeliers are top notch, are extremely knowledgeable, deliver perfect tastings, and make for a very enjoyable dining experience.
Canlis is a perfect location for a romantic evening, celebrating, or just a reason to enjoy delicious food. We've always defaulted to the tasting menu and pairings, and have never been disappointed! Highly recommended!
Got there about two, it was not packed. The service here is great. This place has an awesome atmosphere. Reminds me of a place in New York I loved to visit.
The food is close to being impeccably great; so much so that I ordered a lot of food and drinks during my first visit. The menu has so many wonderful selections. The atmosphere is enjoyable, and the service reasonably good.
We were so surprised with the delicious prefix dinner, every dish was beautifully decorated and tasty . The service was superb, gratuity to the staffs were well deserved. We moved from NYC, where there is an abundance of top rated restaurants. We missed the ambience and the food there, but Canlis can easily be rated up there with the best rated in the east coast.
