We liked our stay but did not like the Wi-Fi set up
We spent the weekend at Candy Hill for the Apple Blossom Festival. The campground was very nice. Though smaller than some of the big chains, Candy Hill gives you a lot of space with your campsite. The folks there were extremely friendly and helpful. Yeah, you're close to a highway and you get some traffic noise but it wasn't so obtrusive as to ruin our experience.
The campground trolley dropped us off one block from the parade route. The $2 round trip price was worth a lot more since we didn't have to deal with any traffic or parking. THANK YOU FOR THE TROLLEY!!
Buster's Run for dogs was excellent! Our dogs had a lot of space to run around and burn off some energy. The pool is really big and looked super clean.
Don't hesitate to spend a night or two here!! We are looking forward to our next visit.
Bathhouses are clean and people are so friendly. Great experience.
Stayed here for two months in 2016 - great location, good amenities, and friendly helpful staff. Quiet and well regulated.
Great setting, well maintained grounds, super friendly staff and just a great campground. We will definitely camp here again. We camped here in a 40ft diesel pusher for three days. This site is convenient to the interstate and therefore does have some road noise but that was far outweighed by the entire camping experience.
Efficient check-in, very clean, nice store, easy to level campsite, easy on and off the highway
Had air conditioner on so didn't hear road noise. Rv supply right there, great dog run, nice pool.
Nice, clean campground with well maintained grounds. Staff was friendly and helped unhook our towed car and helped with the RV hookup in the pouring rain. Our only complaint was that the sites were a bit close to each other, but it really wasn t an issue.
Great campground, well kept up and they have excellent storage.
I took my family for a long weekend and my grandkids absolutely loved the campground. Everything was so well maintained and cleaned, from the campground itself, to the bathrooms and showers. The camp store is big and well stocked. The staff was super helpful and friendly the entire time. I was comfortable and felt secure with our stay. The staff escorted people in and made me feel comfortable to know who was coming in and out of the campground. We stayed in the cabins and they were very nice as well. I will definitely bring my family back for more fun.
We are full-time rv ers and travel from Calif. to upstate NY. We have stayed here five or six times and each time we are amazed at the rudeness and attitude! We will drive out of our way to not return!! Ok, quick edit, my wife told me that Susan was nice to her!! There may be hope:)
The only reason I did not put a "5" is because the staff was not very friendly...personable...not sure how to put it. I have a business of my own and making people feel welcome and appreciated is part of it. For a business with so much to offer it is a shame I did not feel welcome.
That being said, otherwise it is incredible.
I stayed here a few days ago. I called ahead while we were on the road. The guy was very helpful. I was having issues with my power cable, I called the office and they had two guys at my campsite in 2 minutes. they fixed my cable in another 5 minutes. I thought the facilities were clean and it was very quiet where we stayed. Everyone was great! i wish I could have stayed longer.
This has got to be the worst camp ground I've ever stayed at. First off the campground is located right next to the highway so no sleeping at night. The staff is very rude especially the owner Karl the way he spoke to me and my wife I don't know how he stays in business. Don't take your kids here either every game in the arcade room broken been like that for over a year. Bathrooms are filthy get cold after 5 minutes of use. Dog park not taken care of at all. Altogether this is just a run down campground would not recommend to anyone
We arrived on Wednesday and was escorted to our site. We were hooking up our electric & sewer. I went into to turn on our electric on, only to find out that we couldn't connect. Checked the plug & point of electricity and that was good. I went to the office to fine out who to contact for service and the staff gave us a card. The owner also came to see what was going on. He went above and beyond for over an hour and half getting us power. We had a bad connection in our trailer, which he was able to fix temporarily until the repair service could get to us. This is really above campground service. They (the staff) came by daily to check and make sure our trailer was serviced and all was well too. I would recommend this campground to anyone coming to VA. It is clean and the staff is friendly and helpful.
Our visit was great. The bath house was very clean. It was our first time taking our RV out and the staff was very helpful with all of our questions. Very well run operation.
We stayed at Candy Hill for two months. The location was great for us. We were within walking distance to a Walmart, McDonald's and fruit/vegetable vendors. Old Town Winchester is just minutes away and offers antiques and a multitude of quaint restaurants. Within 45 minutes to 1 hour are civil war sites, a casino & racetrack, Skyline drive, Luray Caverns etc. Washington DC is quite a distance but doable in a very long day. The camp sites are varied, some better than others. Be very specific about your needs, i.e. if you need to set up a dog pen, make sure your site is not on a hill! We found the staff helpful and fun. Our site was in the back away from the highway, it was nicely shaded, level and quiet. We also had an onsite RV mechanic multiple times, he was escorted to our site and we had no problems with this. The dog run was fantastic, one of the largest we've seen. We camped in a 35' Class A motor home. On-site storage worked well for our motorcycle trailer but we had to get permission before we could visit it. This was inconvenient but we appreciate the extra security.
** after reading more reviews this is apparently an ongoing issue that is being overlooked**
Absolutely terrible customer service the lady that answers the phones was extremely rude to my elderly grandparents and myself. If anyone that works for this company sees this I would like to speak to management myself, if management has any respect for their customers.... according to the lady in the phone management was the one that told her to rudely tell me she was hanging up on me and calling my confused elderly grandparents who are already confused and upset because she is rushing them to be there at 7:30 when they have been on the road for almost 12 hours already.. God forbid a man with brain cancer and diabetes has to make a stop or 2.... I hope that management will attempt to make this right if so I will edit this review accordingly otherwise June 30, 2019 is the date of incident the initial phone call was placed at 6:02
Stayed at Candy Hill on August 27,2017. Used this campground as a overnight stay. Nice looking campground but way too many rules. The lady at front desk just kept reading off rules. Everything was extra. We stayed in a pull through in a Class A. We were about 300 ft from the main road that went pass campground. AC running and earplugs in you could still hear the noise. I will not stay here again.
Very nice campground sites good size well kept but a little disappointed in the laundry shame people can't take care of things!
Quiet campground, looks like it's in the boonies, but reality is it is just minutes from most anything you need and want... Friendly staff, grounds are well maintained, big dog run...
We love this campground! Very customer friendly! We will definitely be back!
Nicer facility than most so we could come back if traveling I81. The pull through and the premium sites are VERY close to a noisy highway. Pick your spot carefully. There are some angled spots down at the bottom of the hill. Make sure to check out the campground map and try to get a spot at the top of the map. That's the bottom of the hill away from the road noise. (The highway is NOT shown on the map. It's on the bottom.) The straight non-angled spots could be tricky to back into depending on your rig. The U-series spots are the ones to get if they're available. Best dog run we've found.
We stayed one night on our return from down south. It was very expensive for a non level pull-through with a sewer attachment that was not conveniently located. It was so high from level that it necesitated having to lift our hose to empty our tanks.
Looking around us it was similar or worse. Some campers, to level had some wheels off the ground.
On the positive side there's a great dog park.
We will not go back to this campground. We have a 30' class C towing a car.
Not very welcoming. Our second time stopping here. And we thought we would give it another shot. This is not a friendly campground. It is convenient but there are other rv site off I-81 that would want our business
We stayed there twice last fall. Once on our way south and then again on our way north from visit5ing sites in the area. We drove extra hours just to make this campground because of our experience with the campground. It is clean, well maintained, easy to camp in with an RV due to their help assisting. It is quiet and the area is easy to find. The staff is excellent and eager to assist to make the camping experience memorable. I highly recommend it. Looking forward to stopping there again again this fall when we come see the leaves.
The owner is a bully. He went off on us about a problem he was having with another camper. There is constant parking issues even after paying extra for parking here.
I can give this place stars for the pool and the kiddie pool, my kids loved it! We were traveling through and I did not read the reviews before choosing this place. Now I know why it was one of the only camps we could find that did not have a 2 night minimum! No one could stay there 2 nights. The staff is incredibly rude. My poor husband decided to fuel up his truck before we left in the morning and when he returned, he was accosted by the owner for no parking pass (we were not given one on check-in.) I understand the camp is at the end of a dead end road that runs through a dilapidated trailer park, so they need to keep an eye on things, but my husband's large, new, diesel truck had the trailer hitch right on it! He could have handled the situation more appropriately. The owners needs to realize they are in a service industry and learn to treat campers with courtesy.
Nice small cabins, good amenities and good security.
Clean nice very nice people to help you beautiful pool close to whatever you need
Lovely place pads are flat we would return if this way again
We have been camping for several years and have never been to a campground where the owners/management are rude and nasty to their guests. We went to this campground because it was close to home for a long holiday weekend and we were harassed the entire weekend. That was our first and last visit there. Wish I had read the reviews before going. Campers Beware!
Low key polite courteous staff. Great rates. Full service with the best stocked supply store. Excellent hot showers, clean bath house. They even helped me back in. Totally reccomend!!!
Nice enough campground but close to main road. Slightly nosy if camped near it.
If you try to pick someone up from the camp be prepared to pay $5 for a visitor pass.
Rude staff
Unclear direction
During off season hours you think the campground would be more accomadating to its guests.
Would not recommend this campground.
Candy Hill has many excellent qualities and some not so great. First the good. The pool, office/store, activities, other campers, restrooms, showers, roads are all top notch. The people working in the store and managing the campground were all very nice. A lady working the store one evening was very helpful and very pleasant. The store is also well stocked with food, snacks and RV items at reasonable prices. My wife and I visited over Memorial weekend and the campground was quiet during quiet hours. Seems to attract an older customer base. The other campers were also very nice. Had pleasant conversations with many. The fenced-in dog park is a good size with room for dogs to run. What is not so good is the highway noise. The campground is located right next to a highway. I found the noise of the traffic and trucks bothersome. But, it was also close to many of the attractions in Winchester. The layout of the campground is poor. Many of the sites run perpendicular to the campground road making it very tight to back in. It also means when a camper is arriving/leaving their tow vehicle is blocking the road. It's a stupid layout. Angle the darn campsites. The dump station is located so the only way to use it is to block the exit road to 50% of the campground. It is obvious the owners are working to improve the campground with many of the buildings, pool and roads looking recently renovated. I would give it 4 stars if not for the highway noise. 5 stars if the sites were angled and the dump station was in a better location.
Candy Hill campground is wonderful except for the road noise everything with speaking span everything's well done the staff was wonderful
I really enjoyed staying here meet some really nice people here as this was only our 2 trip in our motor home the OWNERS and staff were very helpful as we arrived kinda late they waited for us and helped us get parked around 11pm . I was reading some other reviews on here they spoke about the traffic couldnt even tell it was there. The ROCKIN trolly was a big hit and fun for us and my son(17 months) loved it.
Stayed at Candy Hill for the first time during the spring N-SSA shoot 5/14-5/19. Campground is very well kept and the management and staff were all very friendly and helpful. Very pet friendly with a well kept dog run.
I highly recommend.
Very nice camp. Great store. Best I have seen. Will come back
Get ready to be offended and the book of rules and fees thrown at you. This campground is rude starting with the owners down that you will understand if you read through the reviews. If you camp for enjoyment take the higher road and find another campground.
Amazing, they have such a beautiful view I feel like I'm at home
Candy hill Campground
Sites had concrete pads and were spaced apart so that you didn't feel terribly crowded.
Campground was well kept. The swimming pool looked really nice.
We were in site F2
It is near Winchester and there is a lot to do. The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley and Old Town Winchester
We stayed the last week as well as 4 nights back in October 2019. We found the staff to be extremely friendly, informative of area activities, and available when we had needs/questions. We did not use the facilities other than laundry which was adequate. The grounds were immaculate and on this trip we see they are making improvements/updates that should be part of upkeep but often don't see this kind of reinvestment. We have traveled the USA over the last 6 months. This is one of the best kept places we have seen. Should we be in the area again, we will be staying again. Thank you.
Candy Hill Campground was a great place. It's more of an RV park than a tent campground... But they still have tent sites, and even tiny cabins you can rent. The staff is very friendly, and the store on site has tons of stuff. Everything from groceries (milk, eggs, drinks) to RV accessories, and tee shirts are available in the store. The store is also where your can purchase firewood if you want a camp fire. The bathrooms were clean, and had showers available. There were also playgrounds for the kids, and a pool. There was a game room... But nearly all the video games were out of order. Lastly, they had several activities scheduled. There were trolly rides to Dairy Queen, bus trips to local pick-your-own orchards, and they even had a bouncy house four a while on our last day. My kids and I had a very good time.
If you love highway noise, rude office staff and a park manager who is downright nasty, this is the place for you. I witnessed him dropping the F bomb to another camper because he was driving in the wrong direction and screaming at kids in the pool. Getting a repair man in to fix my RV while I was there was like breaking into Fort Knox. Avoid this place at all costs unless you are desperate!
Nice Campground, some staff act a bit overbearing. Everything else seems fine. Plenty of room to maneuver my big rig. I would come back again.
Campground is nice, very clean and great store with prices better than Walmart for RV items. It was bad weather when we visited and the only reason I don't do 5 stars is because the pad was not a bit wider so the mud would not be a factor. Lovely pool and play area, laundry room was very clean with several machines. The pull thrus are excellent with a beautiful fire pit.
Very helpful and friendly personnel at check-in and locating campsite. Very well maintained and clean sites. Our Maltese really enjoyed the large dog run.
No after hours check-in, but good luck finding that policy on their website. They won't refund your money if you're late either.
Rude extremely rude
MY wife called to cancel our one day reservation because of a family emergency understanding that we weren't going to get all the money back the lady she talked to was extremely rude to her
Called for availabilty asked what time exactly would be there I said 9pm she was very rude said no, asked if I could do night registration said no and hung up, was amazed at what happened will never try it again.
Nice campground, has some activities. Not a lot around the area to do, unless you like antiquing.
Really nice park and staff is great, the only issue is we are literally right on the highway. Going to have to try to make believe I'm at the ocean and every time a truck goes by I'll try to picture waves....
I will be in the next few days and times that you have any questions or need anything from me and I will send you a message.
The family that owns this campground made special accommodations for my wife to live here while she worked at the hospital across the street for about 5 months, and I lived there with her for several months with her. There was never a moment where they weren't kind and helpful and had a smile on their face. They have a nice camp store with high quality items, fire pits for rent, and activities for families. Highly recommended.
Candy Hill is such a nice campground! It is well maintained, level sites and many are pull thru. It's perfect for a night or a week! We have stayed twice now and really enjoyed it! It's close to restaurants and breweries, shopping and outdoor activities. One of my favorite things about Candy Hill is the dog park! Our dog loves to play fetch and it was so nice to take her a few times a day! We will be back!
This was our first ever venture with our first ever RV--our shake-down trip--and this was a perfect campground for us! We arrived about 3 hours later than expected, but kept tabs with the office staff and they were more than accommodating. When we finally arrived, there were three RVs ahead of us for check-in, and we were super impressed with how quickly they moved through the process. In no time, we were being guided to our campsite. Our site, F9, was very nice. It was a back-in on a slight knoll, and with our 39' rig that worried me a bit, but we were in place and all hooked up in no time. The pad was concrete and fairly level, we had some trees around us, and we had a nice view of an open grassy area out the front. We also had a very large grass area out behind us, and since our family includes two large dogs, this was very important to us, and made for easy "walkies." As mentioned in a few other reviews, the campground is along the highway, there is some noise, and of course, the closer you are, the noisier it gets. We were far enough off the highway that the noise was negligible and not a bother at all. We also decided that as a one or two night stop-over, we probably wouldn't mind being on one of the sites closer to the highway.
For anyone traveling with dogs, this is a terrific campground. Besides the expansive grassy areas, there is Buster's Run Dog Park. The park is very well constructed with separate in/out safety gates, and it is grassy with plenty of room for dogs to run off some steam and play with some toys. There is also a nice bench for the 2-legs! We also found the campground itself to be a very pleasant walk, with plenty of winding roads throughout. We walked 2-3 times every day, and we found the dog park and the entire campground to be extremely clean, which I'm sure is helped by the poop-bag stations that are scattered throughout the campground--never a reason to not clean up!
I can't say enough about the pleasant helpful staff. This started with our reservation process. Susan was a tremendous help. I explained our purpose and our newness and our dog needs, and she picked the perfect site for us. I don't understand any comments about unfriendly staff, we found just the opposite. Maybe it's just a matter of you get what you give?? We enjoyed talking to the campground staff, and the camp store was a huge surprise. It was like being in a mini Camping World!
It wasn't yet swim season so the pool was closed, but the pool area looks very nice. We also didn't use any of the extra amenities, but it seems there is quite a bit for kids play, and while we didn't need them, the shower room and the laundry room looked clean and more than usable.
We chose this campground because it had a dog park and it was an easy one-day drive for our first venture. We now know it will definitely be our first stop every year as we begin our snow-bird journey to the south. For us, Candy Hill is perfect!
The place is beautiful and well maintained. Probably the cleanest campground we've ever stayed in. The staff is pleasant, accommodating, and very helpful. Spots are level and grassy, with packed-gravel pads. Lots of fun stuff to do in the area. Oh, and p.s. visitors fees are pretty much standard for most campgrounds these days, especially national chains like Good Sam and KOA. (Be sure to try the kickles from the gift shop! Delicious!)
Very clean campground. Very peaceful. Workers are very helpful and friendly. Prices very reasonable. Watch out for biting flies.
Worst customer service ever and they nickle and dime you over everything! My 80 year old grandmother came to visit us since we were in her town and they charged her $15 just to sit with us for 2 hours, citing they had to charge us in case she used the pool (she did not). The staff watches you like creepy stalkers and are super rude during every conversation. The lots are so narrow you barely have any room. Do not bother staying here, it's a very unpleasant experience. They clearly do not understand the concept of hospitality & we will NEVER ever stay here again, this place is horrible with limited amenities and ZERO customer service.
The staff were very helpful and nice. Clean bathrooms, nice clean pool. The rocking trolley ride was a blast! Kid and pet friendly. I highly recommend this camp ground.
Owners are amazing people ! Campground is very clean!!! Definitely recommending this!!!!
A very nice neat as a pin campground tucked away in plain sight. Easy on n off the highway, Wally world is across the street, and a farm market stand just a short walk down the street. We stayed here for a week visiting family, and found the staff very helpful, the grounds very well kept, and minimal traffic noise. Yes the grounds are next to a highway, and we did stay on one of the sites furthest away from the highway. We found the sites to be spacious, the grounds wooded w/old growth trees, and the mngt does a good job keeping out the riff raff. Our weeks stay was peaceful and quiet. Our site was in the shade, but there are many in the sun too. They have a very nice pool, a well stocked camp store, very clean well kept showers/restroom that are aging gracefully, a great fenced in dog run with shade and sun, playgrounds/stuff for the little kids, gameroom, exercise room, etc There appears to be work going on continuously, I saw bldg permits displayed. We did not use the the restrooms or showers, we used our own. On that note we had no problems with the electric; no errors or problems reported by our EMS unit; water, sewer, cable, etc. We normally stay in state parks that have far less than we had here, and it was very nice to have these things. We were here when temps were in the high 80's and low 90's, no problems running both AC units, hair dryer and microwave at same time. They have lots of pull thru sites, and seem to have quite a few overnighters. We will stay here again. The way in n out is a tight fit, large units that tail/belly drag will want to use the in road to avoid the hump on the out road.
We checked in and we're told we were to far fowRd in our spot. I rehooked to camper and moved it. The next day, a different manager says we are to far back. I moved it again. Was told the reason was so when the camper next to us opened there awning they would not be close to my camper or vehicle depending on how we parked. That's fine except with my awning out when I'm sitting there I'm right beside the tow vehicle that they have. I do not recommend this campground and will never stay here again. The staff was not rude but not friendly, and what we have dealt with is unacceptable.
I recently stayed at Candy Hill Campground on November 24-26, 2017. On the last day of my stay I decided I would stay one more day if my site was available. I called about 11:45a to the office and she said that wasn't a problem since no one else was booked to come in. The campground was about half full. At about 1230p my boss notified me of an emergency that required me to return that day. I went to the office, after just paying for the additional night ,30 minutes prior, and ask if there was anyway I could get a refund or just credit for s stay at a later time, Linda without hesitation, looked at the clock and said no that won't be possible. We were off the site by 1:30 p and she was not in the least understanding. I would have understood if this were the summer and very busy. But that was not the case. Linda had not been very friendly during any contact I had with her. I'm sorry to say I will never stay there again. I have stayed before but won't again. Please think twice!!!
This was one of the worst! Candy hill is the only camp site in Winchester. We first stayed there May 16th, we placed or RV in Storage there for 20 days. Then stayed there in our RV for 4 days & nights. To put it lightly....." We had a very bad experience at this camp site!" .........The Owners/ Managers need to take a customer service course......... Made you feel like you were being watched all the time........it was like we were in a jail.......owners very disrespectful to customers and staff. The Staff act like they are in fear every time Owners / Mangers walk in store or were in the area. We would not stay there again.........never.
I waited a month before giving this review because I was so upset about this experience. I would not recommend this campsite to anyone ............camp at your own risk.......you have been told the truth. Can you imagine if I wrote this a month ago before cooling off???
We stayed here several years ago. I hadn't written a review because I was hopeful maybe it was a one time bad experience; however, we went by just to take a look around before deciding if we wanted to camp here again. To say they are INFLEXIBLE is an understatement. Very unfriendly, very expensive and LOTS OF HIDDEN FEES!!! Lots of silly, nit picky rules as well. To say the least, we decided against staying here again.
Dog friendly, good facilities, friendly staff. Dog run very nice and our dog enjoyed playing with the other dogs. Our site was close to the highway, so we turned on the A/C fan without the A/C because it was cool, worked great, nicer heard traffic noise. We'll kept park, enjoyed our stay.
We had a great time stayed last week of April 2020. Clean and well kept. Camp store is the biggest and one of the best stores we have been too. Had a problem with my cable and the owner cut me a new piece and put the mounting ends on and was great to help us out. This may become our got to get away place,
(negative stars if possible) Horrible staff and service. Harassed and property threatened for picking up family members (with a site) for dinner near by. I can certainly afford to pay $5 to visit if I'm actually staying but decided not to return after dinner due to the atrocious attitudes of those on "patrol". The staff demanded a visitation fee by my parents because I took a picture from the road and playground area. I wasn't allowed to pick up from the site of the RV, only the main office area. I've never been treated so rudely nor have my parents who take their RV across country. Be warned.
Very clean and we'll maintained. The road noise was very loud during the night.
Called ahead early from the road for a one night stay and were asked to call at 6 to ensure a spot. Called at 6 and it appeared we had a reservation. Seemed a bit disorganized. On arrival pulled up to sign that said Stop Here to Register. Man without mask in golf cart with his back to us did not stir. Husband got out with mask on and asked if he should walk up to office to register and was told yes. Man inside office without mask. No masks anywhere in this campground. Maybe no Covid in VA? Winter rules mean water shut off at 8 pm or 37 degrees. This means someone comes around to each site to disconnect the fresh water camper hose and padlock each hydrant. We like to keep our water hose clean. Their employee felt compelled to toss the end of it in the mud. Nice. The whole experience smacked of passive aggression YMMV.
Very clean, nice camp store, traffic noise not a problem if you are in an motorhome with the A/C running. If you get one of their good sites, you have water, electric, sewer, and free cable TV. Maybe a little more than other places pricewise, but we thought it was a good value.
Here in the winter; so we couldn't enjoy all of the amenities. Staff was helpful. It is very near a busy highway ,so a lot of road noise.
First time visiting... Its ok for an over night stay but to stay longer is not for us ..you have no privacy your being monitored while your at your site on video cameras the wifi is extra money the cable was fuzzy ,if you check in early there is a fee witch they never said to us when we called in our reservations if you have visitors they charge a fee for that even if they dont use the facilities( i can see a small fee if they did ) this place is over the top neat and clean but the cameras on every site videoing you as you camp is not for us we like some freedom of camping most people in the camping community are there to have a good clean follow rules time and should not be video taped while you are... I can see the video cameras in the game room even laundry or areas like that ... They can drive around and see you and talk with you thats more friendly than video taping you ...we just think being super clean and rule you to death and fee you for everything on top of high prices is not for us on top of a busy high way i can handle train whistle a few times a night better than traffic all night long
....
I would definitely come back here again. Service was great and security is even better. Close to everything. Nice place to stay.
Lovely campground. Lots of space...two negatives tho...too close to highway and very old bathrooms. Laundry room needs major update.
Terrible. Discriminates against vintage campers even if they have been restored beautifully. Also very rude and not nice amenities. Not recommended.
Great campground!
Grounds were immaculate, staff was proficient and friendly.
Called Candy Hill Campground while traveling to Gettysburg. We were 2 hours out when making the reservations. The staff was very rude and wanted to know the precise minute we would arrive. We had traveled all day and decided to stop and eat that pushed us behind about 45 minutes. We called back to tell them we were running late. They were very agitated and wanted to know why we didn t call immediately when we stopped. The lady spoke with my wife and cancelled our reservations because we didn t contact them in time. It was a joke, every KOA or Good Sam we used on this trip allowed us to use night registration and it wasn t an issue. We drove another hour to the KOA in Gettysburg and got a night registration and they we more than helpful. We stayed in a different KOA or Good Sam for 8 nights while traveling. Each one of them were very helpful and worked with us, except Candy Hill Campground. I would not recommend this campground to anyone and will never stay there when in that part of the country.
This was our first ever RV camping trip, but definitely not our first camping experience. The campground was clean, the setups were very nice, the camp store was the nicest we have ever seen, and the staff was amazing! The friendly and knowledgeable staff definitely made this a great experience especially when running into first timer issues. I love family run campground environment here. Even with the activity limitations due to Covid we will definitely be back!
One of the best camp grounds we stay at. Been camping here for over 15 years. Feel safe and at home !! Karl and the "CH " family and crew are awsome.
The campground itself is fairly nice. It was however the first campground that I actually felt unwelcome. The owner or at least the guy who runs it is very unfriendly. I doubt they get very many repeat customers. I read a review before staying there that mentioned how unfriendly the guy was and I didn't believe it. I believe it now.
Easy check in, nice grounds. Love the dog park. Pool is very nice. 81 traffic is heard but not very loud. We wanted a campground close to 81 for ease of on and off the road. A hotel would hear the traffic too. Friendly staff and a store if you forgot anything.
We enjoyed our short stay. We would like to come back .
Knowledgeable, friendly and helpful when making our phone reservation. Office open till 8 pm in July. Someone to guide us to site. Clean. Paved roads and site for our Class A with ample room got the tow car. We only stayed overnight but would have liked to stay longer. This campground is on our list for next time we pass through.
Beautiful grounds, nice layout, good store, conveniently located, good wifi, a couple of OTA tv channels. Cable. Friendly staff. Only negative is the road noise. Maybe run the fan to buffer it. Good Sam discount. Good for big rigs with lecel cement pass on some sites.
The employees are awful and the owner was one of the biggest a$$&@ $ s I have ever met. They took our money and was some of the worst service I have ever had at a campground. These new owners are awful.
Candy Hill is the only decent campground around. And it is clean and lovely. But they are SO rude. On the phone, registering for a site, the gentleman demanded to know to the minute when I would arrive. "About 3 hours." got me a lecture. Guy in golf cart leading us to our site didn't break a smile and demanded we park in such a position as we couldn't reach the sewer. Why? Then driving in yesterday the exceptionally unfriendly son of the owner blocked the driveway and wouldn't let us in. Why? Our ticket was displayed. A little pleasantness and would go a long way. But it's the only game in town.
This campground turned out to be amazing. I found the staff friendly and helpful. The campground was so clean. We loved having the well-kept dog run so our pups could get their exercise with no worries. I found it amazing the time and effort the staff put in to help a couple locate their lost pet bird. We will definitely be back soon
