We were at the hotel this February.

We were at the hotel this February.
We moved from Monte Verde, and I have to point out that the roads, if they can be called that, are a horror.
Access to the hotel is a bit complicated, it is on top of a mountain and you must have a good 4x4 to get there. The personal is very nice and servicial.
The rooms are spacious and clean. (I in particular would prefer that the towels be changed every other day). They have a private bathroom, kitchen and a terrace with a table and a swing bed. The terrace is the one that leads to the room and has curtains to give privacy.
The common areas are fine, pool, jacuzzi and yoga area (cleaned in the morning).
Very early you can hear the monkeys.
Parking for me is the worst score it deserves. In the main one there are 4 spaces, but if someone parks badly, there are three, and you must go up another small mountain on the left to park.
To go to a restaurant, beach or supermarket you have to go down the hill to the town.
They have a library service with books in various languages; I forgot to bring one, it was great.

While the staff was very nice, everything else was extremely disappointing. The shower did not work properly and always switched from extremely hot to extremely cold, and there was a glass wall around it which was visible from the street. The whole place was not very clean, and the bed sheets seemed very used. The bathroom doors were made from cheap foldable plastic, and there is very little privacy as all rooms are closely next to each other with open balconies and a shared pool space. The road up to the place is very steep and there are no lights at night. There is no way of getting a coffee or anything on site or close by. It was surrounded by a noisy street and the whole rainforest around was extremely dry. Also a ton of really big spiders around our balcony. Not worth the money at all unless you take a room with 6 people and have super low standards.

Anything but chill!

Anything but chill!

Horrendous customer service and a dangerous location on the top of a poorly lit steep hill. Not willing to work with guests on updates to reservation. We had planned to stay for 3 nights and had to leave Costa Rica a day early due to a hurricane hitting the US. The staff demanded that we pay for all three nights, despite us only needing the hotel for 2 nights and then demanded we pay cash. They had our credit card on file but refused to use it because it would charge the owner a fee. They had no problem telling us that we had to make a 30 minute trek to the only ATM in Teresa though. Overall seemed more interested in squeezing every last dollar out of us than making sure we had an enjoyable stay. The front desk staff was outright rude to us the rest of our stay after we had this issue and out of concern for our safety we agreed to pay for the three nights to de-escalate the situation. I cannot recommend this hotel when there are so many other lovely hotels in Costa Rica that provide great service!

This was an amazing stay! The personnel in the front desk were so welcoming. I was arriving late and he even wrote me a letter to guide me. The sound of nature is so relaxing, if you like to be in touch with nature and relaxing, this is your spot! The only downside is there is no food to buy in the hotel, no even ice. Although the food and beach is only down a hill 5 minutes. PLEASE do not drive at night to get here. The roads are not pavemented.

Definitely one of the most unique properties I've stayed at! The place itself is quiet and looks very small from the outside, just a few suites in the whole property. But the suites are so spacious! We had a full kitchen, beautiful canopy bed, large bathroom with a top to bottom glass shower so it felt like you were showering in the jungle. And outside the room, we had an outdoor patio with a hanging bed.

There was a small pool and hot tub in the shared space, as well as a beautiful lounge area. In the mornings you could hear howler monkeys outside the hotel. The front desk was super helpful in booking our excursions while we were there. We booked a day trip to Tortuga Island and a paddle boarding class. Both were great recommendations that we would've had to spend ages combing through all the different options on our own.

The one thing I will say in the negative about this place - the road to the hotel is a very steep hill with quite a few pot holes. Definitely not recommended if you're a skittish driver as there are cars, ATVs, and motorcycles coming in both directions and the road itself isn't wide enough for two way traffic.

Other than that, can't say enough good things about this place!

This is a very lovely place lead by a friendly staff.

Although it is not far from the beach, you should definitely not expect to reach it in just 2 minutes.
As a matter of fact, the house is located on a hill and the road is ... unpaved. Walking down is possible and there's not much traffic but I would not recommend to go down with tongs ...

On the first day we had some difficulty to reach the second parking located about 20 meters from the main one (where there's only 4 spots) as it was full. The hill to the second parking is quite steep and unless you have a 4 wheel drive vehicle, I am not sure you can make it up there.

Once you are parked, you will find big rooms, each one with a private patio.

There is a shared jacuzzi, it's a nice touch but the water shoulde be replaced more often.

The lovely swimming pool you may see on the property pictures is cute but it unfortunately doesn't get exposed to the sun long enough to warm up. So expect a chilled experience.

Whilst talking about the chilled experience, we had various issues with the shower temperature. It went from burning hot to cold every few seconds. That was rather annoying and I hope the owner will fix this very soon.

Although we appreciated our quiet stay, if we were to stay again in Santa Teresa, we not stay there again. First because we would prefer a place closer to the beach but the decisive point for us is the one below :

The hotel requires an upfront partial payment by PayPal for the room and only takes cash to settle the remaining amount upon arrival.

You should know that there's only 2 ATM's in Santa Teresa and you cannot withdraw important amounts (we struggled to withdraw the equivalent of 100 USD). If you are lucky enough to have no money left in the ATM, your last resort is to go during business times to the counter... Expect a very long waiting time (certainly more than an hour)... So imagine having to pay a week at 100 USD/night and not arriving with the money in ya pocket ... Good luck and have fun !

I foresee no reason for this place to not accept credit cards for payment except because cash leaves no traces for taxes. For that single reason I am discounting another star from my rating.

Awesome place to stay in Santa Theresa. Situated on top of a hill (4x4 required. on foot is perfectly doable as well), it sits outside the noise of the busier town itself. Nice hangout area with a sweet pool and jacuzzi. Rooms are perfect and all come with a small kitchen. Highly recommend staying here.

although it looks very nice from the photos, the reality is quite different. the road to get there is rather uncomfortable, the tiny pool in the evening is filled with frogs and roses, and an enormity of insects, cockroaches and cockroaches. the lodgings are dirty, the wc table is completely yellow, the sponge in the kitchen to wash the dishes with the remains of food stuck to the previous guests, the mattress covered by a layer of plastic I believe (I didn't have the courage to push aside the sheets) a line of ants that departed from our bed and came to the air conditioner ... so we decided to pay our stay but not sleep even one night. Reception is closed for 20 pm and then you are completely isolated and deprived of the most fondametali services that a hotel should offer.

Spectacular hotel with apartments with a lot of fun! They make you want to stay in them !! Very well equipped, clean refrigerated !! The location is good but you must have 4x4 since it is located 300 meters from the center on a colona!
Highly recommended both as a family and as a couple, not with very young children !!

The hotel is very nice looking and the rooms, despite having open varandas to the pool area, have curtains that make them decently private. It is also quiet and not dusty as It is far enough from the main bustling road in Santa Teresa. There is Air-Conditioning and the staff is helpful. To get the hotel there is a steep ramp on the dirt road, and you may find it difficult to drive up if you are not on a 4WD car. It doesn't get more stars because it is EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE for lacking some basic things: coffee to use in the coffee machine, very outdated and cheap kitchen appliances and pots and pans, a luggage rack to keep the insects and creepy crawlers out, an extra roll of toilet paper in the bathroom (it's not fun to go ask for another), no extra towels for use in the pool and hot tub, no extra sheets and blankets and no breakfast or any food for sale on premises so you have to drive all the way down to town for anything. It's also cash only which is mildly annoying.

Canaima Chill was definitely chilled; almost too much so. Sits atop a hill up which one must traverse a gnarly, rock-strewn "road" to reach it. Get a quad, it's a life saver. The ambiance was nice and it was far enough removed from the main drag in Santa Theresa so that most of the street cacophony did not reach you. The bed was hard as stone so we did not get restful sleep due to copious tossing and turning trying to find a comfortable position. The shower would not maintain a steady temperature, vacillating from very hot to cool and back to hot, no matter how much one tinkered with the faucet. Could not get hot water at the kitchen sink, even after running it for five minutes. Fire extinguisher in our room had not been serviced in some time as it showed to be in bad need of a charge. The staff was relatively polite and helpful, when the front office wasn't closed for the day. We took half of a day and looked at other resorts while in the area and feel that all in all, there is better value for the money. Would recommend you think twice about spending your money here.

Spectacular place. Swimming pool. Jacuzzi. You feel too good The hotel's policy is respect for the other. Do not make annoying noises Nature and the rest is totally intertwined. It has a private kitchen. Shower overlooking the rocks. The bad: the taxis and combis do not leave you in the place. So the most practical thing is to carry a backpack. No suitcases with wheels. Since you have to climb a very steep slope of earth and stones. That's complicated. The rest a wonder.

This place was great from start to finish! We arrived in SantaTeresa pretty late at night and finally got to our Airbnb, which turned out not to be as promised or expected, to make matters worse everything in the area was already closed. We lucked out on this place not only due to our situation but also in regards to how lovely our stay was, and the customer service we received was excellent to add on to the positive experience we had with Eco Chic.

Muchas gracias Eco Chic team for the fantastic stay, and for all your help too!

P.s. If you are wanting to wake up to the sounds of nature, like howler monkeys, this is the place for you!

Beautiful place! and very romantic. ... ideal for couples. The attention and predisposition at the reception is excellent, and they are aware of the needs of the guests. The only thing to take into account of the place is that it is not far from the main street of Santa Teresa if it is advisable to rent a block to stay there because it is located in a steep place to walk up with the bags and to go and come from the beach The decoration of the place is beautiful and if you are lucky as I had when I stayed ... maybe you can see the congos jumping from tree to tree. .beautiful place!

Very nice place, peaceful, beautiful and surrounded by nature. Bedrooms are well equipped with a basic kitchen, a terrace and very nicely decorated.
Not so easy access to the hotel, you need a 4x4 car or a motorcycle to get there.
Very peaceful and nice, perfect for couples.
