Sunday brunch is the bomb!! Southern buffet that includes breakfast items. 6 or 7 meats, multiple vegetables, the cheesiest mac, shrimp and grits, prime rib as rare or cooked as you prefer, awesome croissants, and to finish it off? Peach cobbler with the perfect crust. Oh, and a salad bar if you like that kind of stuff. If you want to indulge in the $15 all you can drink mimosas you'll have to wait until 12:30. Its the law :( 11:00 to 3:00

Wonderful place!! Food was so so good, they have the best steaks in the world no doubt!!

Bennies has potential.....but.......
Today when I went, the air conditioning was not working..... it was HOT!
I was part of a very large group, @25, but we had called ahead and made reservations. We got there when they opened, and other business was slow, but it still took a REALLY long time for our food to come.
Our waitress Veda was really nice, I liked her.
My husband and I had the seafood platter. He ate the oysters and scallops, and I ate the shrimp and fish fillet, we both got loaded baked potato....yum! If you order an appetizer, this should be enough food. All entrees come with yeast rolls...yum... and a house salad, but its gross..... romaine lettuce and two tomato pieces...lettuce seemed wilted... could have been lack of A/C, or salad was pre-tossed long before it was served. But my husband ate his and mine. Mifriedn had the fried chicken, she says it was good, it looked great. Next time I'm on St. Simon's, I will try the chicken.

Attended a large private party we are from out of town. My apologies I don't recall his name but the male bar tender/manager was EXTREMELY nice. They served us great food and drinks all night. Beautiful location with a great vibe. Good people. Good food. Good times. Thank you to the staff there.

The waiter forgot my appetizer order which was my meal, charged to plate share and when told to bring me the check handed it off to my father. I was not at all happy with the service. My mother ordered the fried chicken and the breading was bland as far as taste went but the chicken itself was very moist. The steakhouse fries were as good as any I've had. The personality of the gentleman wandering around talking to patrons and singing was the highlight of the dinner!

Not sure what all the rave was about. It was "ok". Nothing that Golden Corral doesn't have.

Consistently, one of the best places to eat on the island. Great steaks, seafood and surprisingly, some of the best fried chicken around.

My Father has been coming here for 10 years and has always raved about Bennie's Red Barn. We came here for vacation and he decided to take us out. However this review is invalid as we were not even acknowledged by any of the servers. After 30 minutes we still had not even got our drinks. We told a waiter and waited for 10 more minutes before walking out.

Been a bunch of times and most of the time it exceeds our expectations. Steaks are really good.

Food was good. Wait staff good. No subs on dinners (eg, veggie instead of potato). Salad comes with each meal, but only with oil/vinegar. Place fills up fast. Reservation recommended. Medium pricey.

Service, atmosphere, decor, and the food...so great!

For sure one of the best dining experiences on SSI. They specialize in steaks however, their fried chicken is to die for.

Food is fantastic. Except for the desserts. My one companion had a pecan pie, warmed. It wasn't good. I had the kahula ice cream with whipped cream & cherry. It was so gross I almost vomited. I was so disgusted I forgot to have them take it off the bill. Don't get dessert!

Hostess was wonderful.

My party of 5 had a good time. Wished there would've been seating on the patio as it was nice out Sat, 11.23.19, night.

Our server, 7p, wasn't thrilled to be waiting on us. He wasn't communicative or warm. He was just blah. I mean with a party there really isn't that much to say but he was just not very hospitable. I think he said his name was Curt.

When we arrived at our table I noticed silverware & napkins were just thrown down, not placed. I don't know who sets the table but whoever it was they weren't happy. My guess is that it's the server who sets the tables up, not bussers. By the way he handled our party I have an inkling it was Curt that threw our table together as it was he that didn't find joy in our company. He served us well, just not nice or really welcoming.

I'll bring a bigger party next time. I prefer to take my biz where service matters but the guy didn't do, necessarily, anything wrong. I like to pay for service, as well. Will try again!

Great time, if you go to the Island you have to go here. The trees in the bar are awesome and if you catch on a full moon like I did a great photo opt.

I've been to the Sunday buffet twice. Excellent food and service. Very friendly staff. Roomy, clean, and well organized. Big variety to choose from. I'll definitely be back soon.

The restaurants food was amazing but the service was terrible! I have never been to a resturaunt with a worse service! First when we got in the resturaunt we got waited to our table and then all of the waiters forgot about our table and we were there for 45 minutes until somebody actually came and asked us for our drinks. Also this was a monday night and it was not that busy. Then we were waiting for an hour until our food actually came out and people who arrived way after us got there food earlier than us and they have more people in there party. Next the waiter apologized for our wait and told the manager how we were waiting for so long and that we would get a free desert. When we were done with our food the waiter totally ignored us and just dissapeared and starting cleaning dishes so we were waiting there even longer. Finally we went up and told them we would like to leave and the manager came up to us and apologized but apparently our waiter had never told her about our wait. Worst resturaunt quality service ever we were there for over 2 hours and most of that time was us waiting but the food is amazing just not worth it.

A friend turned me on to this place and we all went right after my wedding. The food was not bad but the service was subpar! We sat in a very dim section having to use our phones to read the menus and it took 45 minutes for the meal to arrive. I know this place has been here awhile and gets good reviews. Only wish I could have had an experience that was worth posting my own.

We chose this restaurant based on Google reviews and recommendations at our condo. The building was cute and staff was nice. However, management has the servers acting quite pretentious considering what food they serve. The shrimp cocktail was warm and resembled something thawed out of a grocery store shrimp ring. The salad had obviously been made with dressing already on it for hours if not the previous day. The lettuce was soggy and squishy. Salad takes 2 seconds to prepare so I'm not sure why they were pre-made with dressing already on them. The steak I ordered was ok. It was really juicy and cooked well, but a little seasoning would go a long way! I don't like to smother steak in A1, but almost needed it to give this steak some flavor. Needless to say we will not visit Bennies Red Barn again.

Food was superb. The ribeye is the best I have eaten.

I ve been here to celebrate my 17th birthday, my Mom s birthday and recently my graduation dinner. It s never a disappointment plus the food is outstanding.

Alright, y'all need to check out Bennie's Red Barn every Thursday night. Free fish fry tossed salad hush puppies And the amazing cheese grits. It's really good. Every Thursdays eat as much as you want. And they have a dance floor. Oh my gosh. They even have dance classes for everyone. Just get out there and have a good time with you and your lady. Or just have a good time by yourself cuz they all treat you with love. A really good place to go to on a Thursday night.

Great night out. Friendly fast service. Nice having music with dinner. Get there early. Known for their steaks. The seafood we ordered was not the best we had on the island.

We haven t been there for several years until last night and the quality of food has gone way down as far as I m concerned in some things. My wife got the ribeye which was actually very good. I will give credit where credit is due but I had a seafood platter with a vegetable medley. Nothing special and reminded me of cafeteria quality food.

The vegetables were stone cold and you could tell they were not fresh vegetables but from a bag of frozen vegetables.one of the staff passed by and noticed the little bowl of this vegetable medley and said that s her absolute favorite. REALLY?!!!! Mixed Birdseye frozen vegetables are her favorite??!! Disappointed

Absolutely unprofessional I get they were busy how are you going to put me and my partner on an aisle row and have nowhere for me to put my baby and when ask to be seated somewhere else you tell us we have to wait till someone gets up when there were quite a few available places. So unprofessional and won't waste my money or recommend this place to anybody !!

And we stopped by this place super hungry
First of all the place is nice and the staff is amazing, we came towards the end of their lunch time, my girls were hungry and they invited us in anyway. The food was absolutely top notch, after lunch they even gave my girls fresh baked cookies The best part of all was towards the end they said you don t owe us anything, I was like what??? Regardless I will come back to this gem every time we are in town!

Loved my first experience! ! Will definitely come again.

Very good dinner, live entertainment from the staff. Unfortunately usually very packed and the restaurant is rustic. Have ate here multiple times and will continue to come back.

Great ambience. We went for Sunday brunch. Drove for two hours. First time here. It will be our last time. HORRIBLE COLD NASTY TASTING FOOD. I'd rather kill mysek f than eat here again.

Food was good. Limited Menu (one page). But they're hot fresh rolls are To Die For! Couldn't stop eating them.

Are here with a party of 14. Food was good, steaks need to be seasoned a little more (I'm honestly not sure there was even any salt/pepper on them). Service was good overall. Not sure they handled a large group the best. Many times they would tell one end of the table something but not the other end.

I have been eating here for over 50years and it's still a great place to bring your wife meet friends and have an outstanding meal.

This is local hangout boasts the best atmosphere on the island, huge steaks, delicious seafood and the best service on the island. The "Club" is a dance bar right next door that has two bars, an outside fireplace and a dance floor boasting live bands and or a DJ Thursday thru Sunday. Sunday is Reggae Sunday and is awesome. One of the bars is built around a 300 year old oak tree! Some of the server like "Chip" will sing at your table! The inside bartender is Stephanie and the outside manager is Chris. These people go out of their way to make you have a safe happy time. They will call a taxi that is only 5.00 any where on the island. This place is a must if you are traveling to St Simons Island!

Not a good experience. The salmon was fishy, we sent it back and the steak had no taste.

I expected this place to have a great steak, considering many people kept telling me to try it. Once I did, I was let down. The steaks here are comparable to the backburner steaks at Logan's Roadhouse or Outback Steakhouse. The steak was barely seasoned and was dry, also overcooked. The waiter/waitress we had for the table was also lackluster, causing us to even discuss the poor service as a table. The atmosphere however was neat and the singing waiter was... interesting, though maybe a bit too much when trying to enjoy a family outing with family members you don't get to see often, which was what I was doing. One song is okay, but we could've gone without the next two songs and the magic trick. Anyways, I most likely won't be back on my own accord. Give your tastebuds a treat and head over to Millhouse Steakhouse or The Rooftop at Ocean Lodge to get a great tasting steak.

OMGOSH! What a great steak! Everyone was so friendly and accommodating! The seafood was delicious and the dessert was as well. It's a little dark inside but the food was so good, and their sweet tea was the best I've ever had, next to my grannys!

Wife, daughter, granddaughter, and I went to the Red Barn a couple of nights ago. My daughter drives up from Jacksonville on occasion just for this destination. My wife and I (from West "by God" Virginia) were staying on Jekyll Island and had never been to the Barn. My daughter and I had a top sirloin steak and my wife had a seafood platter. It was one of the best steaks ever... medium rare to perfection. The server, with dress shirt and tie, was a real veteran. He absolutely knew what he was doing... full on courteous and helpful. The adults had the famous historical "raccoon". Wow, was that ever delicious! This family owned place is a St Simon's icon. Bennie's Red Barn is a must stop.

Had three separate locals recommend. Made reservations for 8:30 PM on 12/24/18. Restaurant was packed atmosphere seemed great.
Placed order with waiter, explain a simple dietary request, two ribeyes medium well, no baked potatoes, switch to simple green vegetables.
Both steaks came, one was perfect the other came Medium Rare and barely warm. Waiter didn t come back so had to ask bus-boy to find him.
When he did come, tried to tell me my steak was cooked correctly. No apologies just took steak back to kitchen and had it cooked again. Was once again unapologetic for the problem and time wasted. Last one to finish my dinner at nearly 10:45 PM.
Then added surcharge for switching baked potatoes for cold and poorly cooked green beans and turnip greens.
Would not recommend, overrated and overpriced for what you expect for a $30 steak.

Hosted a wedding reception here, owner, and managers were great, bent over backwards for us, and ensured the bride and groom were well taken care of.

Outstanding service, amazing hostess, and food that I would kill for. I live 4 hours away and will be coming back for another steak. Best steak ive ever eaten and ive eaten alot of steaks. Only wish I could give more than 5 stars

The food was good but service sucked. Never have I been to a restaurant where I felt my money wasn t any good. If you only want to cater to people of st Simon, then make it a private club. First time there to celebrate Valentine s Day and my husbands birthday. Never again will I set foot in that place. So upset that I can t put it into words.

Great environment and scenery. Fries were barely luke warm, and the house said consisted of to cut pieces of a tomatoe and iceberg, that's it. Steak was good and prepared properly but nothing standing out from any other steaks I've had. Steak wasn't very tender either. Looked like a fun place, but extremely over priced for what was served.

We had a memorable anniversary here. The food was delicious and the staff were great.

The atmosphere is as wonderful as the food and service. We Love this place.

Seafood platter, broiled, was terrible. No seasoning, tasted freezer burned, over cooked until rubber, oysters had sand in them.
