My start rating is compared to other hotels in this city for the same price range.

Location is ok. Its close to the U of M for any out of town people visiting students. There is shopping right across the street. Best buy, pet land, toys r us are all within walking distance. Some fast food restaurants right across the street to next to the stores. What is missing here is... Other than shopping and visiting, what is there to do locally in this area of the city?

Rooms seem ok. Nothing special. Wasn't the cleanest, but they were adequate. TV is smallish. There is the usual, desk, coffee maker, microwave, bar fridge. Regular bathrooms. Rooms are rather dated, but maintained. One thing I did have an issue with it the amount of noise that makes its way into the room from the hallway.

Pool area and water slide are good. Seemed maintained. It's definately a place where Manitobans go in the winter for a staycation by the looks of it. I visited in March, so there was sand and crud tracked into the pool area. It was very busy when I was there.

Parking is unsecured outdoor parking. Lot is big, but kinda old. Asphalt aging, holes in certain places. Didn't notice any plug ins at the stalls, but, I wasn't looking.

There is a restaurant here, but we likely won't use it. I have ate at Altos before and it's usually expensive for "meh" food. There is no complimentary breakfast here or even a continental one for that matter.

Celebrations dinner theater is right in the hotel. Its nice having that here, being able to stay right here after a late show, a big meal and a few drinks is really nice for out of towners.

There is an assortment of meeting rooms and such. I've never had to use them. From a glance they look pretty standard.

All in all, the room wasn't cheap nor expensive for Winnipeg. Its pretty typical of a hotel of this price range. Don't be afraid to stay here, service and room are good for the price. Just don't expect to be 'wowed'.

Room was terrible . The bed was broken they knew nothing about it. Got a second room and the fridge was frosted completely over broken knob on the temp setting. The new room had two queen beds with extremely poor matresses wire spring matress with what felt like a rubber sheet under the top bed sheet for bed wetters. Dont even get me started on the water park (LAUGHING MY ASS OFF) The Hot tub was the one thing that didnt BLOW because there was no jet pressure. I WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN !!!!!

Very mediocre. A room with the noisiest fridge I've ever heard and a bargain-basement buffet in the lobby that we couldn't get seated at. Location was close to where we needed to be, but I wouldn't choose to stay here again given the opportunity.

It was alright. The room was clean, and, comfortable. A bit dark though. The colours are depressing. My room had no view of the outside. The old guy at the desk is a graduate of the Basil Fawlty customer service academy. Alto's is alright, but the food gets repetitive if you are there for a long time. The pub is great.

What I hated was the noise from guests allowing their kids to run up and down the hall, and, every Sunday morning, a church group banging drums all morning. It is a hotel, not a fair ground. Consideration for guests, some of whom are there on business wouldn't go a miss.

Good clean rooms, clean pool, friendly staff, easy to find location. Lounge has some good entertainment. Key card access to halls keeps it private. I'd give it 5 stars except the restaurant was a little too underwhelming

Nice hotel. Rooms were large and spacious. Smelt like cleaning solution though. They should air out the room more.

The bar attached to the hotel had some decent daily specials. Location is really far from downtown or attractions, but there's an express bus that'll take you there in 15 mins.

Recommend staying at the hotel if you're in the area

Attended Mother's Day brunch and it was fantastic! Such attention to detail. I've been to a few special brunches it keeps getting bigger and better! Aaltos and Canadinn has a good thing going here.

Clean. Friendly staff. Decent prices. Lots to see and do in this hotel. Themed rooms. A pool with a slide. Hot tub. Lots of windows that offer lots of natural light. Close to all the amenities. On a great bus route. Close to shops and a unisex gym. The ballrooms are spacious at excellent prices.

I TRIED to check in at 3:00, but was told I couldn't least 2 hours because there was a football team that didn't check out that morning and they had to clean the rooms yet since all of their luggage, etc, was still in the rooms. We had booked 4 rooms together on the second floor where the team was. I had my kids with and they wanted to swim however we couldn't change in our room. The manager said they could change at the pool in the washrooms there. Only one washroom was open. The women's was out of service. The water was cold in the pool. I got the kids out of the pool as we were going to Celebrations and still needed to get ready. So I checked at the front desk at 5:00 after I got the kids changed AT THE Pool. There was one room ready which I took and I told the rest of our group which was in the Tavern that I had a room and there weren't any others ready yet. They were getting free beverages and appetizers (which I missed out on and not given anything different complimentary) and we were also getting free complimentary breakfast for the LONG wait. In the morning I took the kids to Aaltos for breakfast for our free meal. That should have been free anyways as it took over an hour to get drinks. And even place an order. Service was horrible and very disorganized. I went and asked twice to get our order. I was a waitress for many years and I have never seen something so horribly slow in my life. The manager on the floor had no clue what she was doing nor did the one waitress which used the excuse that she's only in the Tavern. I've worked at a sports bar/restaurant/bowling alley and have worked all areas. You still are to serve the customers even if you aren't familiar with the menus. At least check on them. She basically cleaned tables right around us and tried to sit ppl. She had no clue what she was doing and she was incredibly slow in the Tavern waitressing too. We did get our food after waiting 1 1/2 hrs. We asked for a late checkout because the kids wanted to swim again before we went and it was almost 11:00 when I got out of the restaurant. I will never recommend this hotel, restaurant or bar to anyone! The only good thing out of it was Celebrations. And this was my Mom's 60th birthday. Definitely NOT A BIRTHDAY I'd want! And no... You won't be looking forward to seeing me again.

We stayed at Canad Inn Fort Garry and woke up in the middle of the night by bed bugs. Had bites all over my arms and neck and thankfully squishes one so had the proof. Front desk and management didn't really care. We will never be going back.

Less than horrible experience.

Less than horrible experience.
Shower had black mold on the grout and silicone.
When I told the front desk attendant as we checked out, the response I got was, oh really? .
Health inspector needs to go in there!!

UPDATE: management emailed me and asked if she could speak to us on the phone.
She was very apologetic and dealt with the issue in a professional and prompt manner.
Excellent management!!

I have stayed in your hotel many times, but last weekend was the last time. First of all I booked a room at the Canad Inn Express. I thought I had booked an accessible room and just a scant 20 hours before arrival found out they don't have handicap accessible rooms. They said they would book me in with you. Your rate had jumped to over 150.00 including taxes from just over 100.00 the last time I was there. No discounts at all, I am a handicapped senior, no caa, no breakfast coupon and the room was at the very end of the hall on the 2nd floor, no chance of getting out in case of a fire. The toilet was very low, a huge hazard when getting off the toilet. This bathroom is not considered accessible by any stretch of the imagination. Very disappointing night. Also much running up and down the halls. Myrna Penner

Food was good. Atmosphere was good. The service was bad though. We rented a room and drinks took forever, tables took forever to clear. Was not impressed. Especially since every other time had been amazing!

During our stay our door stopped working, they said they would send someone. They never did. So every time we needed in our room we had to get the front desk to open it for us. At no point did anyone ever apologize for the inconvenience or offer us any kind of a discount etc. We won't be staying at this location again.
