Camp Sentinel Review

It is the most amazing place with God's presence all around.

Great Camp! My Son has been going for years and always has a great time. Pastor Kevin and the staff go out of their way to make sure that every kid enjoys camp. They offer both day and overnight camp.

I was a camper at Sentinel for many years. It was a very positive experience for a while, but when I went to apply to work as a counselor it became clear to me that the people who were going to get hired were the ones with connections to the camp: pastor's kids, counselor's siblings, etc. I so passionately wanted to make a difference in kids' lives, but I was constantly put on the backburner at Sentinel, I felt like I didn't exist. I was made to feel that I wasn't holy enough. I paid THEM to do training programs, I paid THEM to work because I was told that that would make me more likely to get hired, but I didn't get hired. As I grew, I began to realize that Sentinel was not the kind and loving Christian camp for kids I thought it was, it was a business full of people trying to one-up each other's testimonials in a bid to "save" the most kids, with no regard to whether the child was old enough to understand what they were promising. Running a business may be about having quantifiable data, but if you're in the business of saving souls, numbers shouldn't be your priority. Sentinel made me feel like I wasn't good enough. Kevin and the administration made me feel like an outcast and a troublemaker. Sentinel is the reason I don't believe in God anymore. The God I thought I worshipped was so clearly not the same one that these people worshipped. I thought we were called above all to love one another, but that was not shown to me at Sentinel. If you have children who are different, who ask a lot of questions, or who are lgbt or struggling with their identity in the Christian faith I highly recommend you do NOT send them here. I know Sentinel personally, and from several other campers with similar experiences, to be a place that will cause children like this more trauma than good. It took me a lot of years after leaving Sentinel to not hate myself anymore and to unlearn the conditioning and heal the emotional trauma I sustained there. I only wish I'd been articulate and self-aware enough to express all of this when it would have mattered. Don't send your kids here, I know I won't be sending mine.

This christian summer camp also has a camping area and a variety of buildings available for fall and winter retreats. Nestled on the shore of the pristine Dan Hole Pond, Camp Sentinel offers a score of activities and experiences for kids ages 1 to 100! I would highly recommend this summer camp.

Location and amenities were great. Food not so much.

I have been involved with Camp Sentinel for 40 years as a Camper, Staff Member, Director, Camp Doctor and member of the Board. Camp Sentinel is a place where you get to learn about and experience God's love by being outdoors in His beautiful creation and by interacting with people who love God and want to share His love. It is a place of beauty and calmness but it is also a place of ongoing fun and excitement- playing games , swimming, hiking, running, screaming, ziplining, being with old friends, eating good food, making new friends... the list goes on. It is my favorite place to be!!! It is GREAT to go to Camp!

A truly special place! My children have attended overnight camp for several years now and the staff is flexible and accommodating to create a positive experience for each child. Also, our family spends some retreat time at Sentinel each year and it is wonderful!

I love sending my kids. They teach kids about Jesus in beautiful ways. My kids love to worshiping. They also enjoy the food and ropes course. Also getting a snack everyday and swimming in the bongo. They stay for two weeks every summer. Coming back this year. Love the staff. God bless you .

An awesome camp that has it all! beautiful lake, hiking, camp fires and of course archery just like you always dreamed. beautiful spot for weddings, group retreats and the like. no place on earth like it. The executive director Kevin is incredibly helpful! From planning retreats to the minutia of weddings he is great for doing it all. cant wait to go back!
