I understand this is a challenging time and everyone is stetched pretty thin however it is pretty clear that the staff here are understaffed to handle things in a timely manner. The accommodations are fine though our cabin had tons of spiders in it it is a natural setting and that can be forgiven. Breakfast is included which is a plus however during the weekend it was served buffet style and none of the patrons were wearing masks even when not eating. We ran into an issue where we ended up not having hot water and it took the greater part of half of one of our remaining days for the maintenance people to fix it. We didn't ask for any sort of refund but maybe a couple of t-shirts and that was denied which is their choice certainly, though I thought it reasonable for us having to wait around for half of the day.

Overall a very average experience and a below average experience considering the price point of a upper middle scale hotel room comparatively. this review is not to be confused with the Kanuga bike park which easily gets a 5 out of 5 both in there hospitality recommendations and the overall trails.

So where do I start. My family and I have been coming for years. We love the mountain vacation (from Charleston) and Christian environment for the kids. Unfortunately things have changed over the past couple years. Last year we had issues with booking and reservation before arrival. We then arrive and are ignored and neglected for 3 days about basic needs...housekeeping and food allergies. We talk to management about issues and was told they were going through a "transitional phase". I accepted the situation and believed that to be true. So we decided to return this year. We arrived and are greeted kindly by old friends. In the discussion we are told that management has decided to stand with the LGBTQ community and raise the gay pride flag for pride month. I would like to say we are a supporter of LGBTQ rights. We also believe though that a Christian organization should follow the teaching of scripture, not be politically opinionated as this move clearly was. As with last year, we have had more issues with proper hospitality and management follow though. As our stay progress we come to understand that many upper managment positions have been changed and there are some issues inside the company with core Christian beliefs. With that being said we unfortunately do not feel comfortable with this change in environment. I have made multiple attempts to kindly address the issue with management and I have had no response. We pray the old Kanuga comes back.

Staff sat around while children do everything and call it learning. It clear to adults why they do this. Intent seems to be to spend as little as possible for food. Won't give kids butter knifes to cut food because they don't want to wash extra. Made kids use the back of their fork to eat ice cream instead of giving them spoons for the same reason. Climbing tower is not maintained, 25 percents of holds were loose. They called them spinnys. that's dangerous. Kids had s God time, mainly because of the free time. I've done a lot of these camps in NC, this was the worse managed and staffed.

We have been coming to the summer guest period for 5 years with our children and love it. The summer guest period is a wonderful time for all of our children that we all look forward to every year. Kids programs for children up to high school, water color and basket weaving for my wife and lots of road and mtn biking.

Kanuga is a place set apart from the world for spiritual, personal, and emotional renewal. Located in a beautiful part of God's creation, Kanuga offers Southern hospitality, an experience of community, educational programs for growth and enlightenment, emersion in nature, and enriching opportunities across the generations. Coming to Kanuga is always a gift to me, whether I am attending a conference or coming for a respite period. It is wonderful to enjoy Kanuga with family and friends, and also to meet new folks from a variety of areas across the country.

This place is magical! I went for the first time to last Winterlight and had the best time. Everyone was so warm and inviting. The service on New Year's Eve was extra special as were our daily meetings and activities. The schedule had just the right amount of time for resting or doing things on your own (I had an awesome cabinmate who taught me how to play chess in the common area where they have many games to play), the food was great, and the view is just beautiful and so peaceful. I'd go back in a heartbeat. My kids have been going for years and have only had wonderful experiences & since they want to keep going back that says a lot!

Came here for the Southeast Wise Women s Herbal Conference and WOW is this an AMAZING place! The land is vast and beautiful, the staff is beyond helpful and accommodating and the lodging/event spaces are PERFECT! I would totally want my wedding here, perfect space for large gatherings with many different lodging options. They have golf carts that we used as shuttles and the diving hall was massive to accommodate thousands indoor and out.

Highlight of this space is how you are immersed in nature yet everything is a pleasant walk away. Lots of lakes, hiking trails and wildlife so it truly is beautiful.

Highly recommend this for large and small groups/functions!
