Was referred by the council for them to help with my homelink application ,the lady said she could help untill I gave my ethnic background as being mixed English caribian then all off a sudden she said she didn't see they could help fill out an online form as "staff are working from home due to covid 19" I fail to see how this works and left me feeling discriminated against and unwilling to ever ask for their help again

I had a dreadful experience yesterday. I wanted advice about taking my children to live in Yorkshire because I have no family or friends in Cambridge and I want to be near to my family. I realise that many people have strong views on this subject and believe that a parent has to sacrifice their life and happiness for their children but having a healthy, happy mother and a much better house is also good for children. I am planning to bring the children back here to help with the access arrangements. I can't afford to buy a house in Cambridge and my husband has a house and a 100k salary while I have to rent and have a lodger so I'm sleeping on a sofabed in the living room.

However, the adviser - after giving incorrect advice that I wasn't allowed to leave - went on to tell me how it wouldn't be good for the children and that some mothers are stuck for twenty years in America because they weren't allowed to leave. The law is different for moving outside of the U.K. But I already knew that a mother is free to live anywhere within England especially if she is moving for family support or for financial reasons. She advised me to try to improve my life so that I could be happy here!!! She also said it was more complicated as my children have special needs. They have Aspergers and my youngest son has an iq of 160:/.

Maybe she thought that I have special needs because I have Asperger's?!! Maybe she did not realise how old I am (as I look much younger). I don't know but I knew she'd be judgemental the moment she opened her mouth. Even her facial expression irritated me. I had to stop her after five or ten minutes of complete negativity and guilt mongering. I felt guilty enough without her help!!!

I just wanted some positive advice because the threat of being taken to court is causing so much stress that I can't sleep and have come out in a rash and my doctor had advised me to go to the cab. I left there feeling feeling really angry and upset.

So thanks for that!!!!

Sam Nurse is simply outstanding. The help and advice she has provided for over a year has been incredibly helpful and accurate. She more than knows her stuff and is good with busy body, chatterbox children (lol) Would recommend her any day. A true breath of fresh air
