Callaway Gardens Resort Review

We go to he Fantasy in Lights March of Dimes Walk Thru every year. Callaway never disappoints with their annual Christmas light show. I would like to offer a couple of suggestions though. On the one night of the year that this walk thru takes place...please keep cars off of the road., and require that everyone have to ride back after the walk. It took nearly an hour to ride a trolley back due to people walking back...the trolley wouldn't pass them. Other than that....it's a great experience.

They charge about $50 for golf but don t tell you , if you don t ask, that it also cost $25 to enter park. Judging from golf course reviews, I don t think so. Glad I didn t go.

I absolutely loved the gardens of Calloway. We were celebrating our anniversary doing something we both haven't done. The landscape was beautiful, weather perfect and location is perfect. Next time we're doing a Tree Top Adventure and I definitely want to see the Birds of Prey show.

Great family destination, lots to do. Easy to get to.

Enjoyable morning fishing. You just bring rods, tackle and a cooler. Everything else is supplied!

The lodge was great. The gardens have been neglected. It was like a ghost town. The horticulture center was closed and has been abandoned. Sad to see the Callaway's legacy dying on the vine.

Extremely fun place to visit and the perfect family vacation spot! Many interesting things and places to discover, and it's always a plus being so close to nature.

The park is looking very run down and half of the attractions are now closed. Sadly this last visit of mine will be the last visit. Annual membership buys you the right to pay half price (which is the normal price) on special weekends like Labor Day, Christmas, etc. because now they charge you double on those days. Beware of the NO REFUND POLICY because you won't even have the pleasure of speaking with a manager to lodge a complaint, they will simply give you the 1-800 number and tell you to call during business hours. Of course they were happy to take my $100 during non business hours.

The trolly ride for Fantasy in Lights is a great time for all the family. Dress in layers or bring a blanket as it gets pretty cold by the lakes.

Not at all what we had expected. We thought we were going to be booked into the Callaway Lodge and Spa. We ended up being booked into the Mountain Creek Inn. It was very old, in desperate need of renovation and small. Apparently, it is owned by the same people, and is on the same property. I'm not sure how you actually get a room at the spa. When you call to make a reservation, they answer the phone Callaway Gardens Lodge and Spa. Nobody mentioned that we would be put into the Mountain Inn part of Callaway Gardens! Beware! This also happened to several other people that we talked to at the hotel.

Beautiful, impressive, definite kid trip. Very little really new, been there, done that. Think we'll try something new next year.

Callaway Garden is really nice staycation type place. The butterfly sanctuary alone is worth the trip.

Hot air Balloon festival. First time visit. Plan to go again for another event.

Loved it and wants to go back and make it a longer vacation.

Went for the Christmas light and it was okay nothing spectacular.

Place has really become run down. Use to be out get a way. If you are going for the Gardens...they closed them years ago

Visited the gardens for Fantasy in lights beautiful display have gone many times just wish it was a little cheaper

A bit expensive to get in, but you can spend a full day there if you like. Hike or rent a bike (or bring your own, they actually encourage it) over 7 miles of trails with a lakeside view. Watch butterflies buzz you in the butterfly center, feed the fish, look at the stained glass windows in the chapel, look up the seasonal events, see the various places to eat, or just wander around until a spot opens up on the golf course.

Alot of blank spaces in the fantasy of lights. But love the manger scene. And the little snow village for the children to play in.

Day visit of the Gardens. Enjoyed the butterfly exhibit and birds if prey show. The park was beautiful. Staff was helpful, knowledgeable and friendly.

The Christmas Buffet was adequate, but nothing special. I mean, I could cook better food at home and will do so in the future. Nothing will compare to the first year I went: three types of fish, caviar, great quality. Now, it is just an average buffet. Better than Golden Corral (gross), but not by much. I'll be cooking for myself next year.

Canons tap room is well worth the drive, loved my spa experience and the resort is wonderful.

Over priced for what is available to do for the entry price and food and drinks were very high.

Great place for tennis as well as golf My buddie just stopped to tune up his serve, getting ready for the match this week. Wish him luck !!!

We loved the entire resort and facilities. The staff was amazingly nice in all of our encounters, the gardens and the surrounding area were beautiful and extremely fun to explore, and the fantasy in lights attraction was absolutely amazing.

Good rooms, everyone is wearing masks. Healthy place to stay

Fantasy In Lights is something we try to do each year. It's a nice Christmas light display with an enjoyable trolley ride viewing. The lights and displays are kind of dated and could use a refresh, but still highly recommended.

We enjoyed our stay here. It's not actually inside of Callaway Gardens, but rather across the street. There is a small bike/jogging trail that will give you direct access to the gardens with your room key if you want to bike or jog into the park. The facilities were a bit dated, but everything was clean and well kept. Our only real complaints were with the restaurants on site. The breakfast buffet was definitely not worth $13/person, and the one night that we tried to eat at the Vineyard Green restaurant, they told us there was a 45 minute wait because they only had two servers working.

Really great resort overall. Super relaxing atmosphere, I love being outdoors, and this has a great woodsy feeling to it

It's not as big as it was I didn't like that it puts you back out on the main road when you finish the lights and you have to drive a few miles back to see everything..
Santa Claus tent is way smaller.
And everything is way overpriced

I took my family for the day. We enjoyed the gardens, Butterfly Conservatory and beach. Great entertainment for the family.

Stayed in the Mountain Creek Inn. Expensive, outdated, understaffed. As I understand it, the inn, as part of Callaway Gardens is also not-for-profit, and I suppose that could be the underlying reason nobody seems to care if you like it enough to come back. Too bad. The area is beautiful. But, at $180 per night for a dated and poorly maintained double room, it was a disappointment.

Great place to bring the kids! Beautiful grounds, fun activities, TONS of walking and biking trails.

I loved the butterfly garden! There were lots of great walking trails and the chapel was beautiful!

We visited the butterfly house and it was amazing! It was so beautiful and I had a blast!

Be prepared to spend the day or even a weekend here. There is so much to do and see...hiking, biking, nature exhibits, shows blooming plants every where. The butterfly exhibit at the conservatory is amazing...you can walk among the butterflies which are flying freely in a hothouse of flowers and water features. Be sure to catch the raptor show with the birds flying inches over your head. I would give this a 5+ rating if I could. Callaway Gardens is a great value for a family day visit, if you forget the picnic lunch you can always get a lunch to enjoy at the restaurant.

We will definitely be coming back. We only came for the day, but there is so much to do, next time we ll stay for the week.

Callaway gardens is a decent resort, they could do with some updating. The surrounding pine mountain area is gorgeous.

The hotel was good but the cook gave the white woman my omelet. I ask for a pancake and a omelet. I only got my pancake. Never going to breakfast there until they get it right.

There are inside garden facing rooms and outside parking lot facing rooms. On the outside, the inn is much like a regular hotel. Clean and functional. Admission to the Gardens is included and that is a good value.

My cabin was nice and cozy. The fireplace was beautiful. Secluded area with mountain view. Great place for a couple to get away.

The hotel is beautiful! The attention to the customer is great! This hotel has a jacuzzi pool and a beach and the activities are spectacular !! The best time is summer to go and enjoy with the family !!! And do not forget Fantasy Life!

The mountain inn was dated but great staff! Beach was very nice and fun! Will visit again

Piedmont Restaurant at the lodge was great! Little disappointed in the trolley ride this time....the covers over the trolley are very distracting from the beautiful light shows. I think they should only use the covers in inclement weather.

Beautiful rooms, cozy hotel, and the best staff around! This was the best place to get snowed in!

It's like the Disneyworld for flowers. Gorgeous landscape, architecture, and very peaceful. If they would let me live here, I would never leave.

The overnight accommodations were great however the Christmas were lacking compared to have experienced at other holiday light shows.

Great New Year's Eve celebration. The staff is extremely helpful!
