Went there on a Friday, the food and drinks were great. There is a bartender there named Karen who lights the room up and gives amazing customer service and her margaritas are 10 out of 10.

Been going to Caliente for decades...Not the same as it used to be (what is?). Caught Sunday brunch...Food was ok, mariachi band was cool. Small pet peeve...like most Mexican restaurants they serve chips and salsa with drinks before the meal. The salsa was weak and tasteless, when I asked the server if we could get different salsa she said we make homemade salsa but that's an additional cost...Small thing, but it turned me off.

I went there for my birthday this week and although the service was great the food was not, the enchiladas were not spicy, the tacos did not taste good, it s a very Americanized Mexican restaurant and on top of that it was way overpriced for what I ordered
While Mexican restaurants are a dime a dozen in New York, few places can master the craft of guacamole. At Caliente Cab this millennial food group is fresh made and exploding with flavors and sadly, no matter how many attempts I make, unreplicable at home. Maybe its the cilantro, maybe it's the fresh lime or hot pepper or maybe some secret ingredient, but it requires great restraint to stop me from licking the bowl clean.
Unfortunate as it may be, mankind can not live on guac alone and must have other things for nourishment. Sadly, the rest of the fare at Caliente Cab is a bland meal, much like a cover band phoning in the greatest hits. Their burritos, sizzling fajitas, enchiladas and tacos all look appealing, but a few pretty dull bites later, the desire for more guac kicks in.
They do have a reasonable priced brunch special on the weekends that gives an breakfast dish and two drinks, which is a good option for when the normal brunch routine has grown staid.

We went there based on their menu which we saw on their website for a sampler and bar specials. Alas, the menu we received in person had higher prices. When we questioned the manager, he blamed it on the person they used to update their webpage and that it was his fault and refused to honor the internet prices, despite us showing them to him on our I phone. We suggested he withhold payment to the web techie for the two customers he (the manager) was about to lose and we left.
We will never return....

CAME HERE FOR DINNER ON MY 25th birthday and Gisele was a charm she s a light made feel comfortable she got me drunk lol you guys really need to have the fried ice cream because it s freaking great she brought it to me as a surprise and she s just the sweetest. The first Mexican restaurant that charges $7 for salsa.!!! The atmosphere is really nice, food is good but not that great to change $12 for just two tacos. The service is really good. Carlos was our server and he was really helpful. Drinks are really good. Overall is to experience.

Space: Very large restaurant/bar/clubby vibe setting. A DJ booth in a chain Mexican restaurant mixing on the weekends?! The main area is a spacious bar that is large and open making it very conducive to mixing and mingling. The dining area is very casual and fun. Outdoor seating in the warmer months.
Scene: Tourist trap. Date Night. Singles Scene. People watching.
Service: Good! Friendly service.

Was here for Fleet Week. Great food, great drinks, great prices, and a very friendly staff. Pro tip: If you don't know what drink to order, ask the server for a recommendation. If it includes "Don Juilo" Tequila, do it!

Ended up here by accident as we were waiting for others. Ended up being pretty cool by the bar area, until they closed the open air side for the night. Drinks were ok, but NY pricey.

Good food, even if Mexican isn't your favorite. They had some fusion, which was good. Good margaritas, and a beautiful day for the patio too! Could just be a bit more structured about customer intake, especially for the patio. The girl outside said, go inside for someone to seat you. This random guy inside who want wearing the restaurant attire said "do you need help with anything?" Then the person who seated us let us choose our seat outside... Oh sigh. Biggest thing is also that everyone approaching customers should look like they would there. Having a guy in a grey sweatshirt, even if he was the manager maybe on his day off, address is like that was a little off-putting especially if you are tourists told to "not talk to random looking people like that"! So if it's your day off and you are wearing a sweatshirt, just don't address the customers. It's all good! We will feel more comfortable if you don't.
Getting back to why I liked it; the girls were cute and sweet, the food, again, was really good, and the atmosphere outside on the patio was awesome!

Visited Manhattan recently with my girlfriend and, by a cruel twist of fate, stumbled upon Caliente Cab Co.
Food was bland and re-heated - pre-prepared weeks in advance, defrosted and served luke warm. The drinks were passable, I m honestly just grateful there was a little liquor to take our minds off the dreadful experience.
Service was slow and our server was rude. When I suggested I would require a new side plate and cutlery following my dreadful starter, I was met with not only a look of derision but also a refusal to remove the aforementioned.
Unfortunately, I am forced to give this one star. Do yourself a favour - go hungry rather than go to Caliente Cab Co.
I met my friend here for dinner. It's a small and quaint place. Our waiter was not friendly especially after we didn't order alcohol. I don't drink and my friend was driving that night. I am a slow eater and the waiter half-hearted asked how our food was ; & focused on the larger table which boxed my friend and I in @ our table. The food was okay. I did like the fries, which had the skins left on them.
Food was amazing. I think you can judge a Mexican restaurant by how good their guacamole is. I'll give it a 4 out 5. However they made up for it on their pina colada. :) Food and drinks are a bit pricey but then again they are in Manhattan so what is't pricey there. Overall had a great experience.
Good quality of food,drinks and ambient for couples,friends and family.the only thing that I have is that i ordered a margarita in the rock with different tequila and I pay 15 dollars extra.
Was at this restaurant yesterday for the very first time, I was really impressed by the awesome service! Special shout out to Natalia and Alondra, they were so sweet and always taking care that I was having a good time. Good food and drinks with a great vibe as well. I will definitely come back!!

I went here last Friday for dinner and drinks with my friends and I wish I never did. The drinks were great but those enchiladas have given me the worst case of food poisoning I ve ever experienced. No wonder the waiter was pushy, looks like he had poison to get rid of. Please avoid food here.

Would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting new York. The drinks are on the pricey side but they are well made and definitely worth the price. The food was awesome, it definitely competed with the Tacos we have in Austin, Tx. The steak tacos were simple but perfect!

The margaritas are good. The nacho chips and the green sauce was extremely salty. I also ordered a fajita and the chicken was salty as well. Be aware for those with high blood pressure.
I am giving this place 5 stars because practically I have no complains from this place. Drinks are unbelievably authentic and good. Food is absolutely acceptable when it comes to taste and presentation. Staff is friendly and polite. I been to this place 4 times already and I won t even think twice to go to this place again.
My boyfriend and I came to this place to have some authentic Mexican food. I thought we were at the right place until they made us wait an hour or so for our food. The drinks and the attentiveness of the staff were good. But when we asked our waiter why was it taking so long, he said: "we had a big order before yours, I've asked for your order and it's about 10 more minutes." To what I replied, "please just bring us the check." As soon as I said that our food arrived instead of the check.... Not how I pictured my experience in this place.
Had the La Bandera enchilada dish and mainly enjoyed the beef enchilada. The lime frozen marg is tasty too -- huge portion. This place isn't bad for tex-mex. I'd go back.
Great food, especially their guacamole!!! The fresh fruit pineapple margarita with the tajin rim is amazing!!! Definitely my favorite!!!
REVIEW OF OUTSIDE APPEARANCE
The design of this restaurant is so eye catching . While driving by I was drawn in to the restaurant by the massive margarita glass protruding from the building. The architect that came up with that idea was a genius .
Food was good plenty of people to give it that lively atmosphere!!
