Calgary Drug Treatment Court Society (CDTCS) Review

As not only a participant... but a recent graduate i would personally like to say that the only reason im alive today is because of CDTC. At the beginning it mayve been for a get out of jail ticket, but when released found out very quickly that this mistaken notion was very incorrect. I was expected to live a proper way of life, give up crime, do my best to remain off of drugs and adhere to a very strictset of rules that i found out everyone in the world is apparently obeying. So if that isnt for you than maybe the above statements are correct.
The drug court staff were and are absolutely integral in my continued sobriety. With first hand knowledge of not only addiction, criminal thinking, but actually amazing people that genuinely have lived the life and walked the walk...and made it out the other side. If you are truly seeking a way out of the spiral of addiction and crime... and feel u may be ready for the incredibly hard work that its gonna take to do it... than i highly suggest finding out more about drug court.

I am extremely grateful for the drug court treatment program and the team. It has given me a second chance at life and taught me I am worth the fight!

This program is honestly a huge waste of time. If your looking to get out of jail sooner its great. They have little to no experience in addictions and treatment but seemingly think they do. Extremely high rate of failure to any particupants in the program and if you dont jump through thd hoops you end up doing your full sentence. Ive personly known participants who have graduated the program and within a year after are back into heavy addictions. They should do away with the program and allocate funds into the community for those actively working towards sobriety. Or even open more treatment programs for those inncarcerated. Womens program is junk and offer nothing for the addict. Womens supervisor is arrigant, snotty, and treats you like a lesser person.

Don't even bother you have 1 in 5 chance of graduating and 1 in 100 chance of staying clean for 5 years. Seek treatment elsewhere. Drug team has no understanding for those they are trying to help so treatment is highly unlokely to come thtu this program.

For those who are looking for a shortcut out of jail. Not in program but had a daughter who is and seen enough that I'd recommend only to those wanting a shortcut to freedom. Drug teams are incompetent and understand little for those they are trying to help. You are only a file and a number. Jail without the bars.

Did awesome for a full year had one non compliant week and was kicked out of program. Now serving 3 and a half years. Wish I never got involved with this program. Met more dealers in drug court then I had 10 years before. Thank God I had a strong support group out of court. Numerous people feel the same way I feel but don't speak openly cuz of retributions. Little to no help for traumatized women. Faulty drug tests that give false-positive readings but when blood work is done test clean on same day testing. People wanting out of jail seems like the norm and a addiction free life is secondary. Recommendation is to stop funding completely and allocate funds for incarcerated programs. Everyone smiled and nods at you but talk and throw accusations behind your back. Have a better chance of winning a lottery then staying sober with this program. Gave it a 1 out of 100 for success after 5 years. Be prepared to go back to jail and do lots of community service for minor infractions.

It's a tough program, But it's honestly worth it! I am glad to be able to have the opportunity to go threw this life changing experience... it's helping me save my life!
