Cafe Brule Review

Wonderful food and dining experience. It was busy as heck being college parents weekend and a game day, but the service was super fast. Definitely would eat there again!

The food is always great and the service was very good.

Awesome breakfast and great coffee. I ordered the country Benedict it was tasty.

Dont waste your time here. Although fully staffed, service was slow. Received water then waited over 20 minutes for server to ignore our table. I do not recommend this place nor will be a returning customer.

Decided on Cafe Brule because of the great reviews. I ordered the salmon which was touted on the menu as having an orange glaze and accompanied by steamed broccoli and brown rice with quinoa. I was also told by the waitress that it was very popular.



I ordered the Stout Chocolate Cake for dessert. It was okay. It had a very light crumb, but very little chocolate flavor. The icing was very nice.

Service was meh. Lots of staff, they weren t busy, and seemed as if only one or 2 waitresses were actually waiting tables.

Delicious lunch. Met with Monica of Cakes by Monica for my friends wedding planning. She was great. Her cakes are beautiful and tasty. Her prices are reasonable too!

Arguably the best restaurant in terms of quality and service in Vermillion!

I've been waiting 40 minutes for my cake. The cake is pre sliced and it's not very busy.
Also, they don't make their own bread. What kind of French fusion cafe doesn't make their own bread?

They do everything well. Breakfast, coffee, lunch and dinner. Never had a bad experience here. Great service and friendly people.

All the offerings I've had here were quite enjoyable and the atmosphere is pleasant. This is one of my favorite stops when visiting Vermillion.

Interesting place... overall, ok coffee and food. Cupcakes disappointingly just tasted like sugar but the cake was pleasantly flavorful even tho i was given the wrong one (for take out). Atmosphere feels very trendy, lots of young people working, which is fine... Tight space for families. Better for couples.

Two hot coffees were not hot at all. The place was not busy and our party of four took over 30 minutes to get food. The food was good....once it finally came

Coffee was cold. Been here for 40 minutes and still don't have our food. Very disappointed. There is only 5 tables of people too

The food and service is good here. Attracts a college crowd from what I could tell, and is a local favorite. Tends to feel a little cramped.

The food was awsome!! Highly reccomend! Had lunch there. French onion soup was great! Bakery, resturant, coffee house and can get beer and wine. Neat environment! Great staff! Met the owner, she was working as well! The desserts were incredible! Had the champagne cake and cheesecake! Simply incredible!

Cafe brule has kept the same quality since the day it opened and it has always been great.

First time visiting South Dakota and went to this cute spot and absolutely loved it! I had a Foggy London (it's to die for!) And had the meatloaf which was also pretty delicious. Try the Red Pepper Gouda soup too!

As an alumnus of USD, I am always excited to visit Vermillion to have some cake! This year we happened to be close enough, an hour away, that we could order my sons birthday cake from here. I found out that Monica is so busy with other endeavors that she has passed the birthday cake making on to an apprentice. I was a touch nervous that the quality may have changed. NOPE!
The cake was fantastic! She took my order via text message, which was extremely convenient, and got everything correct with the order. I ordered last minute and said I didn't need anything fancy. It was a cute cake with a dinosaur that my son loved and it was DELICIOUS. We had a vanilla champagne cake with extra butter cream frosting.
I compare all cakes to Monica's cakes and they have never even come close to the same quality and flavor!

Hands down best place to eat in town. I make sure to stop in every time I'm in the area.

We were just passing through town.and stopped here. Great staff -she helped us select favorite dishes- thee roast beef and the potatoes (loaded with cheese). Excellent unique food.

This place is a great place to just, take a few minutes out of your day to decompress. Also, the 5 star mac & cheese is delish

Excellent food and atmosphere. Salmon and eggs benedict was a wonderful treat. Great coffee and the service was excellent. I was visiting for a couple days and the sun er was so good we went back for breakfast the next day.

Extremely friendly staff. Had the Salmon Gyro it was delicious. A piece of the chocolate stout cake to go soooooo good. Recommended by a friend, it was a great choice.

Been here once I was impressed with the mac and cheese best mac I have tried totally will come again oh and the chi tea sooooo good.

The place is busy most of the time since the food is yummy, the service good... and best of all NO STYROFOAM containers!

Monica was so pleasant to my wife (Anna) and I, so helpful with planning a significant part of our wedding day, the only problem I had was with narrowing down flavors! We had many compliments from our wedding guests on the cake, not just the flavor, but also how great of a job she did decorating it. Very fairly priced (in hindsight I would have paid MORE) The person that gave her a 4 star review must not have seen the 5th star.

I am in love with their food, coffee and they have great service. I wish the cake balls had more variety or at least 1 seasonal/different flavor.

Cool coffee shop with fresh baked goods and strong coffee. This place was recommend by a local when asked. I was traveling through this area on a bicycle heading for Iowa. The woman gave this place a very positive review so I thought I should stop and check it out. I am glad I stopped to fuel up for the long ride ahead of me that day. If I was a student at the university I would likely study at this place from time to time.

Not just a cafe! This restaurant is a classy taste of home. They have great coffee and the food is impeccable. I highly recommend the 5-star mac n cheese!

Traditional comfort foods as well as unique sandwiches and entrees. Wide variety of coffees and teas. Good pastries and desserts. Small election of different alcoholic beverages.

It was excellent food the service was the best they all entertained my little Grandson that is 1 year old I love this place I recommend it to everyone to stop there and eat or just to buy the best Coffee. I just bought 3 bags from there.

They have a menu that is unconventional...i wondered what many things were..but that the service and the food was delicious..not to mention they are a bakery..and have the best cupcakes and muffins
.like pistachio..yum...and Champaign flavors....half priced when day old which i always hit before i leave...and the friendliest wait staff always there with what you need with mature attitudes. Helpfull in deed when you ask for something. Two thimbs up...oh forgot to mention a ton of specialty coffee's..yum

It's the only place in town to sit down and have breakfast. Their reliable and friendly. The espresso is great. Cristobal makes excellent cappuccinos with beautiful latte art. Today he designed a cat for me!

Brule is definitely its own unique dining experience. High quality food,,

This Restaurant is one of my favorite places to eat. You should definitely try it out.
